I take them, and at least in this pre-surgery mode, pills have been easy for me. I was told to stop taking this one 2 weeks before surgery. I'm hoping I won't have to take them after I lose a few pounds on the new diet

I'm amazed how much it varies from one insurance company to another. I guess I'm lucky. Do they have an appear process that you can have your doctor write a letter for?

Yes, there was a review by my insurance company that lasted about 2 weeks, then when that was approved my surgeon reviewed everything and 2 days later I got a call to come see him to set a date. Looks like I will be in December for sure. Everything has been going well, I have a great insurance company. I told my boss yesterday and he is very supportive and I have no job worries. Its about time something went easy for me :frown::eek: -

Be careful, gaining weight will make the surgery more difficult for the surgeon, dropping a few pounds before surgery gives them more room to work. -

Looks like I have a shot still at joining you. My insurance is approved and the paperwork is headed to the Surgeon, might not be too bad having it before Christmas. Waiting for surgeon to call. -

Looks like I'm going to be 1/09 after all. Still plenty of time to heal before the cruise. -

My wife struggles with that all the time in a big company where she has been for 30 years. People who aren't even close are really pushy with their questions. I've been considering all kind of smart @ss answers "I'm on the Fribbleman diet, you should try it and walk away" (insert any meaningless word for fribbleman. Perhaps the MYOB diet?. I was also considering saying my wife put an invisible fence around the refrigerator and I don't have a key to take off this darn collar. -
On Royal Carribean, using the stairs is a frequent practice since the elevators are so slow. We usually are on a high deck so its only a couple of flights up to the pool and down to the dinining room. When we first get on board is usually the only time we regulary use the elevators.

Thanks Amanda, I too won't feel bad gaining 3 on a cruise. I think I can do the one drink a day, I don't drink much more than that. My wife had her bypass May 8, so it will be 11 months past for her and I expect her to be down at least 120 by then. If I can remember to eat small meals I should be ok. I think on past cruises I drank 2 liters of Coke a day. I'll miss that. I can't stand diet coke. Maybe we will have to share a froo-froo cruise drink a day.

Regarding the blood work, it is extensive, but I'm already seeing the benefit. I had a physical with my family doctor complaining of fatique, he did extensive blood work that showed nothing alarming. He did 80% of what bariatric program wanted. The additional tes showed a very low vitamin D despite my one-a-day 400% RDR. Since taking the D supplement, I'm feeling better.

Most likely I will be joining you. Still hoping for last week of 08.

Good point. When those nosey people that you don't want to share details with ask, I can say it was a New year's resolution! I am amazed at the pushy/nosey people my wife has put up with. -

Doesn't seem so far off now does it? I may be a Dec, we will see, a consultation with my Nuerologist delayed things slightly. Anyone scheduled between Christmas and New Year, or is that a pipe dream as all the Drs are in Tahiti then? -
For those with BMI 35-40?
BillOh replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 35 when I applied and was accepted, I'm 1 week into 4 week pre surgery nuitrition classes. I may be lower than 35 when surgery day comes (late this year?) Last night I went with my wife to a local support group and even among the patients there, they seem to look down on me. One guy even said, "Why don't you look like we did?" I didn't know this guy and didn't feel like explaining my self to him. My wife was with me and I felt like I had to be polite, or risk not being allowed back. I carry all my extra weight up front making my BP go up and making it hard to breath and perform simple excercise. My sleep apnea is beyond severe and I am not tolerating cpap. My brother in law just died in his sleep last week at 57, probably from apnea. I know at work the word will spread about why I am out, I told my boss and one coworker. If they ask what kind of surgery I had, even knowing what it was, I just plan on answering, "A lobotomy":cursing: -
How long till you were back to work?
BillOh replied to AllysPC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I'm different in that I am hoping for the full two weeks. My wife was off 4 weeks with the bypass. Part of my recent problem is this is the first time I've had a job that confines me to my desk, but its a very stresfull one. We have lots of turnover, and every experienced employee is extra valuable right now, they will welcome me back after the two weeks, and I could use the rest even without the surgery. -

A coworker of my wife was back in 2 weeks. That is what I am hoping for.
