Hello fellow Mustang lover. I'll miss mine, not driving it for 2 weeks.

I'm being forced to wait 2 weeks :confused_smile: But otherwise, my doctor gave me the go ahead to anything else I want to do if it feels ok (My curling league comes to mind) My reason is they want to make sure my seizure meds are being absorbed ok, which I think is overkill since they are no shortening my intestins like they do in other surgeries. But oh, well.

1.5 more workdays to go :confused_smile: I'm not on a pre-surgery diet other than it was suggested to lose 10 pounds before surgery, which I did. It was also recommended to follow a low fat diet the day before, so tonight its off to get a full rack of baby back ribs. I hope after this I won't be able finish a whole rack any more. Actually I may not be able to tonight, but with my wife 7 months into her post Roo-n-y we have gotten use to carry out containers. As empty nesters we rarely cook big meals anymore unless we plan on making it stretch a few days. I have to think this process is easier with out worrying about little mouths that still need to be fed.

I know there are 3 or 4 of us 12/17 people. If I'm home on the 18th I'll check in. This thread should stay active well into January.

Wednesday will be here soon. I'm most looking forward to 2 weeks off.:tongue2:

Whats the explanation of the shoulder pain that many have? That is one I haven't heard about. T minus 5 days.

Pete, when are you coming back? My neighbors told me its not hard getting into the US from Mexico. :thumbup:

The brand we had was called Aqua Java , not sure if it is sold nationally, but there are variants, google caffeine water.

Are you allowed caffeine on your diet? There is a bottled Water with caffeine, I used it to ween myself off it when I gave up Pepsi/Coke. It helped keep the headaches off, I was able to cut back on caffeine, but stop the sugar immediately.

2 weeks to go! Called the surgeons office to see if I can continue to take melatonin. (sleep aid)

That is the way I feel. I did tell my boss, and he has been great. I also told one coworker, who is very obese and has severe diabetic issues. A different coworker slipped and let me know he knew and all he said was "don't do it" But he is a judgemental bastard and I'm already at peace with my decision. Some people ask why I am going to be off I either tell them I am having a lobotomy, because it will help make working here easier, or tell them I am having a hysterectomy (I'm a guy) that usually gives them the hint that I don't really feel like sharing with them. I'm considering, not even telling my Mom, but that might be hard because I'll be visiting 8 days after my surgery. My wife had the bypass and my mom made a remark to her that made me want to get in her face and scream. My wife works at a larger company and she has gotten a wide range of inquiries about how she is losing weight. Some people just won't take no for an answer. This is especially true of people who barely know here. She has lost 95 pounds since May and she is a beautiful woman anyway, so people notice. As possible words of encouragement, I thought I would share what she sent to me in an email today.

I just know I'm first, but at 5am on 12/17 I may not be as happy about that. Just wanted to let people know their stories are being read. If I stay overnight, perhaps I'll add mine from the room. :whatchutalkingabout

Speaking of Crystal lite, keep any eye out at costco, or Sams Club, or another box store you might have. We had a coupon for the case of bottles which had a mix of the lemonade, orange, and one other. They are among a few diet drinks I can enjoy. I haven't tried the flavor packets added to Water yet.

Wow Pete, I was checking in to announce I am 2 weeks out, and I get reminded you are two days out. (This isn't bragging, but for informational purposes:embaressed_smile:) My doctor isn't making me go on a pre-surgery diet. As of today, I just have to stop taking Ibuprofen/asprin, the Fish oil capsules that my regular doctor recommended, and my Diet Pepsi Max because it contains ginseng. That was the only diet cola I could stand, but I have adapted to Coke Zero. I have to call and find out if I can still take the Melatonin.

Thanks for understanding the spirit of my question and curiosity, and that I am not criticizing.

Geez, I take medication for depression, and that didn't stop me. He did say that suicide among weight loss surgery patients is higher than the rest of the population.

I know a supporting spouse will be helpful, my wife says it was for her, and now she is about to return the favor for me.

The requirement, as best as I can tell, varies from one insurance company to another and Surgeon to another.

I would have a harder time if I lived in Buffalo NY, I am addicted to wings at the anchor bar. As webmaster of Columbuswings.com its not hard to see how I got in this situation. I'll have to settle for perhaps 6 wings at a time in the future.

Having read about so many of you doing this, I asked my surgeon about it and he kind of echoed what Pete said that research is vital and that with insurance and American medical costs it is easy to understand why people would do this. His other concern, which prompted my previous question to Pete was the type of band used and to make sure it can be filled back here in the states. He did related a story of a man who got fills in the US and didn't notice any restriction. Turned out the surgeon only put in the fill port and no band at all.

At least 3 of us have that date. I will be in at 7am and probably discharged the evening of the 18th. I'll probably have my wife bring the laptop and post if I'm up to it that 2nd evening. I guess I'm lucky, I'm not required to do the pre-op diet. I did lose 8 pounds during the nuitrition classes. SELL YOUR PEPSI STOCK NOW!

Let me ask you about going to Mexico for this. Do you know the type of band they are using and have a place to get fills in the future?
