  1. I have that problem if I get up too fast. I'm still on blood pressure medicine because the doctor is phasing it out. I'm off two meds and at a half dose for another month of the last one. My BP the last month hasn't gone above 110/70 and on occasion has been 90/60.
  2. I think that is what I will do when I hit my goal weight. Thanks everybody for the replies, its been interesting reading.
  3. Jachut, what a great job, I wonder if I might get to the situation you are in. I originally set my goal to be a BMI of 24, which is the top end of healthy according to my Doc. I started at the same 35 as you. I since revised that to what I remember as my last weight where I felt good. Once I get there, I'll keep trying to get to 24, but 21, Wow.
  4. My wife and I both put great value in the nutrition classes we took (4 weeks) Besides what we learned in class, being with others going through the same process was helpful. The lap band is definitely a tool, not a quick fix. I lost 40 very fast and have worked hard for the next 20 so I am imagining the last 20 will be equally hard. The 5k this weekend will help. :mad2:
  5. I understand the need to tell someone. My wife and I are going through it together. She is down to a size 12, and I am now buying 36 pants and Large shirts vs 42 and XXL. Being able to tell somone is one of the nicer parts of this forum. Very few people get tired of hearing it.
  6. Where do you buy them? I looked on the website with the intention of trying the dark chocolate, but it Shipping and handling makes if 300% over the cost of the product itself.
  7. I enjoy Boost Glucose control 16 grams of protein and very little sugar. Make sure you get the Glucose control version. I've had one every day for months now.
  8. Don't look when they inject you. They numb it and I didn't feel a thing. I too had a bad barium experience 20 some years ago. This was much better. The whole thing was 20 minutes and a piece of cake.
  9. I didn't start excersicing until I was 4 months out, I lost enough weight by then to make it much easier. That helped me get over that 4 month plateau.
  10. Do you know if there was any fluid put in your band at the time of surgery? I didn't start exercising till I lost about 40. I haven't had any problem unless I ate too fast. Are you getting enough protien? Try buying some Boost Glucose control. Its been my breakfast for 6 months now. I attribute my success and my wifes to it.
  11. What seems to vary is some doctors put some fluid in the band at the time of surgery. Mine wouldn't put any in for 6 weeks to allow healing and the swelling to go down.
  12. Wow, thats a lot quick. My 6 month anniversary is coming up fast
  13. As my signature shows, 2.25 cc in a 10cc band, I have my 6 month follow up, not sure what will happen there. If they want to try more, I'm willing.
  14. Bad timing on the part of Pepsico. Coming out with the Pepsi throwback brand, which thank god is "for a limited time only" Boy is that stuff good. Its made with sugar. I am a reformed Pepsiholic and as I understand it back in my day Pepsi was made with real sugar, which in later years was replaced in this country by "High-fructose corn syrup." Those more in the know, feel free to comment. But boy is that stuff good. Part of my weight loss success has been getting rid of soft drinks. But I will have one of these a month or so as an occasional reward, and will follow it up with extra dieting and exercise to compensate. So far I have done well eating smarter and exercising, but I just eat a lot less of the things that got me in trouble.

    Pepsi Throwback

Like food where you eat slow, you have to drink it slow. I take small enough sips, its not going to gas up and create pressure.
  16. I frequently yell at my wife because she is such a pack rat. Well to her defense, she kept a bunch of her "skinny clothes" packed away until she needed them again. And since she knew she was and is continuing to lose, she has found some great bargains at thrift stores.
  17. I think you hit a key point. I looked at a recent photo of myself and thought, boy you can see how big that shirt looks and was pleased, its obvious I lost weight. After looking at it 10 times, I realized I would still probably look good with something that fit well. Oh, yea, political correctness plays a part in the other part of your post. I've worked for some big companies where you can get called into HR just because someone perceived you were looking at their body.
  18. Nice timing with the question. I just bought a pair of 36 waist jeans for the first time in 20 years this weekend. New belt too. Also bought a Large polo shirt for the first time as well. I didn't notice in your post if you were male or female. My wife has lost a lot more faster, so she noticed quickly (bypass) Seems to me women notice faster because they have more sizes. I lost a lot of weight before I started working out, but my clothing size dropped faster once I started working out again.
  19. I'm doing really well even with only 2.25 cc fill, so maybe I can take some credit too? I'm already off of Blood pressure medicine, my sleep apnea is almost gone and I'll soon run my first adult 5K. (I was an acomplished runner in high school back in the last century. I'm hoping to hit my goal weight by my 50th birthday in June. Think of me when you hear about Alaska and Hawaii having their 50th birthday celebrations. I was born when there were 49 states.

    thick saliva anyone?

The exact same thing happens to me, but I didn't know the terms.
  21. I would definitely talk to your doctor. My wife had a friend go through the same thing after her bypass and he cut her protein back considerably. While she may have been targeting 70grams, she was probably getting anywhere from 50-90 in a day. Her doctor told her 70 was a good target, but some people need more or less.
  22. You have cut 10 grams of protein from your minimum, but what is that level you are trying for?
  23. Absolutely. I'm now in the 2-4 pounds a month stage, but it keeps coming off. It might pick up a bit now that warmer weather is here.
  24. Now, see, you worried for nothing. I thought it was an interesting process.
