Ok, I have heard of that, but would have never thought to call it a revision. Being from a technical background, I have images of them replacing your port with a new revision 1.1 from 1.0 or something. Wow, was I way off base.

Just a reminder, all 5ks are not created equal, terrain and weather can be a big factor. I discovered this thread/program after I had already completed my first 5k, so I hope I'm not intruding, but there are a ton of 5Ks over this coming (US) holiday weekend. I encourage everyone to try it, they all seem to have people of all abilities and ages. Lots of runners, walkers and run/walkers. Easy way to get a shirt that gets a lot of respect when you where it.

It might be worth talking with your family doctor then. I was about 30-40 down when it started for me. I was on Verapamil, and a combo of Hydrocloriside(sp)/Linsopril. On my first visit, he cut the verapamil in half, next one in half again, and then elminiated it, then cut the other in half and told me when it ran out to keep an eye on it. (I have a home BP machine which I verified was close to the same readings he was getting.) I think its been almost a month with no BP meds and all is well.

Want to start running...need encouragement
BillOh replied to Claudine1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I've been looking and for the 4th of July weekend there are 5K races everywhere. My experience with them is that there are a lot of people at every experience level and everyone has a good time. Maybe you should go for it this weekend! Lots of people run/walk or just walk, and you still get the T-shirt. -
Having a lazy eye and limited depth perception, i could envision myself fielding a grounder and having it smack me straight on in the port. If I find an over 50 team that will have me, I'll stick to the outfield.

drinking through a straw
BillOh replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I certainly understand this point of view. I've had two fills and no problems drinking that way. Water is water, in my uneducated opinion, I can't see how the fill would affect it. However I probably had taking in a lot more air, but it hasn't bothered me. -
No, but you have my curiosity up.

Fun, fun, fun at the park

The kid probably wan't up enough on current events to understand, " I have the highly contagious swine flu" (H1N1) but the swine term may scare a kid away more. -
Lapband Friendly Restaurants
BillOh replied to FarmGirl7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have yet to encounter a restaurant that has been less than understanding and cooperative. If I traveled more than I do know and ate by myself I would use it more, but my wife and I have both had surgery and restaurants are very good about letting us split orders, or we just order knowing we will be taking the rest for lunch the next day. Its my opinion that in this tight economy that restaurants are feeling the pinch as much as any business and they are going out of their way to accommodate people whom might otherwise not come. -
Off to surgery this morning...

I remember that day. So glad I went through with it. I hope you too had a wonderful support person at home, I attribute a lot of my success to my wife. -
I have my 6 month follow up today. I'm actually looking forward to it. I know they will be happy. I'm debating as to whether or not to ask for another fill (would only be my 2nd) I may let them examine and talk to me and see what they say before I ask. My 6 month was supposed to be a couple of weeks ago, but the doctor rescheduled. I had hoped to be below 200 for this one, but I had a hugely stressful weekend of my 50th birthday. I ended up spending my weekend getting an MRI and then my actual birthday being being a pall bearer in my Aunt's funeral which canceled the party I was looking forward to. That might my sister and her husband took me out to dinner and I ate too much, but as I was ready to leave I hear this clapping followed by a bunch of people, whom were lucky I wasn't armed, stopping at my table clapping and singing something while leaving an ice cream sundae at my. plate. At that point it might have been tacky to refuse it or not eat it. Had they asked ahead of time I might has asked for something sugar free, but had I been asked ahead of time I would have refused period. Any way, that weekend I ended up 4 pounds, of which I've only lost 3 so far.

What are some foods you aren't able to eat now?
BillOh replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing, but that might because of my low restriction. There are a lot of things that can get me stuck, but nothing I can't eat if I am careful, and for me, being careful is for more than I use to do with my diet. -
First Menstrual cycle...Help
BillOh replied to davidsmom08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to help on a subject that I know nothing about :crying: -
It went great. The visit part. My appointment was for 2:30pm and I got there early, only to wait till 3:35 to get called back. I know that is an old story, but its still unacceptable If anyone on that staff calls my computer repair company, I'll remember this when I give them their bill. Anyway, they were shocked with my results saying it looked more like bypass results than band results. I did discuss my current eating situation, she recommended that I add another .25ccs taking me to 2.5 total. Now lets see if I can get to Onederland.

Weight gain! What The!!!
BillOh replied to HBSurfPunk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides the other good advice, there may be something to this one point. I had a very stressful weekend and went up 4 and its taken me more than 2 weeks to get rid of it -
INTRODUCTIONS-please introduce yourself here before going to another thread
BillOh replied to Mindful's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Uh oh, I have didn't see this thread till now and I have been posting all over. What is my punishment? It could be being stuck at the same weight for the last 2 weeks! I have my 6 month follow up with Dr Mikami at OSU on Monday, I think I will get another fill. MAybe up to 3CC. So close to Onederland, and I can't seem to get there. -
Are you on blood pressure medicine, like I was, and many overweight people are? After surgery my blood pressure went down even faster than my weight so I had dizziness issues until he adjusted my dosages down, and eventually eliminated the meds totally.

First Menstrual cycle...Help
BillOh replied to davidsmom08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about the TMI, a lot of us have information we can share/ask about since we have a common experience, but that said, perhaps you haven't found the sub forum for women where you may get other answers. I didn't discover some of those sub forums till I'd been here several months. I just didn't scroll down far enough. -
"Stuck" Explanation please...
BillOh replied to 303'sJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many here talk about the yoga position "downward dog" If that isn't right, someone will correct me. I haven't tried it exactly but getting up, bending over at the waste can help. I also sit up very straight (addding about 2" to my height) relaxing, and doing it over and over again. Getting up and walking can help. Sometimes just coughing it up is all you can do. -
This has happened to my wife far more than me, but if someone does ask how much you've lost, it almost always is followed by, "what are you down to?" If you were to answer, you can see them doing the math in their heads so they can know how fat you were.

Just wanted to share my stupidity!
BillOh replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is barely related, but I have to vent. I have one child, a daughter who is adult now. When she was little I took her everywhere, but had to take her into the Men's room when she was very small. So many men have some kind of fear of urinals and won't use them. I used to anger me to wait to use a stall for my daughter while some guy was doing a stand up job in the stall while the urinals were open. Today, if I need to use a stall because of band issues and some guy is doing this, I'm breaking down the door, punching him in the groin, throwing him out of the stall and apologizing later. Ok, bad day, I needed to vent. -

At least on Royal Carribean, they had lots of good choices and I absolutely loved the sugar free Key Lime pie. Each night in the dining room they had good choices and at the lunch buffet. This was our 4th cruise, but the 1st one where we actually used the gym and running track. As far as Seasickness, we have had great success with ginger root capsules from GNC. On a past episode of Mythbusters it came out as most effective and no side affects. On a vacation eating slow should be easy, but I found you have to keep it in mind. Our surgery did not stop us from having a great time. -
My wife bought a few pair of the running capris, and they work and look nice.

BillOh replied to 303'sJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the sentiment, but since the food is no where near the windpipe, you are not technically choking, but it does have a similar feeling. As for how you get it out, it depends, if its small enough it dissolves and finally goes through, some manuevers help, otherwise you throw it up, which isn't as bad as vomiting up food that has been in your stomach a while. This can be accompanied by sweating. -
Sooo close to ONEderland ... 200.6 ... looking for REWARD ideas
BillOh replied to Iwanttotriagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats, I'm envious. I got to within 4 pounds and backslid 2 pounds due to death in the family (not close) and the stress associated with it. I'm going to do my best to join you by the 4th of July, which would make for a different type of Independence Day.
