I am looking for a support person that lives in Newport News. I am going for my first consult today with my family Dr. to see what he think about me having Lapband done. I have a 43 in the BMI, I am on 35 yrs old. I have two children that I would like to see grown up and have children themselves. I am hoping my Dr. can help me with all my questions and with the insurance company. I would like to thank all of you that have put your experiences out here, this has helped me alot and I will continue coming out here to read more. Wish me luck this is the beginning of my new journey "I hope".

I am new to this site, I guess I am the rookie. I am going to consult with my Dr today about having Lapband surgery. I am hoping that my Dr will help me with my concerns, but I can say this site has helped me as well. Thanks to all of you that have had Lapband and are willing to share your experience. I hope we can get the insurance to agree to pay for this because if they won't I probably won't be able to have the surgery and that won't be a good thing. I am 120lbs over weight my BMI is 43 other then that everything else is good, so my fear is because I don't have any other conditions they may not cover the cost. Has any one had that problem? Is there anyone in Newport News VA out here? I would love to have a support person in the area.
Well thanks again to those that have shared their experiences because this helped me with alot of questions I had.
