Good luck with your bypass. I know every one is diffrent but my best friend had the bypass and she lost a whole lot of weight. She says its one of the best thing s she has ever done. I know you will be fine.

Went today to get my surgey date and found out that my surgeon has an agreement with my insurance to take the same amt - $11k for either band or bypass, I am really worried if I made the right choice today as I changed it after scheduling to the bypass and still have the same date of Dec 3rd for the procedure. You have 5 incessions about same size, surgery is about an hr-hr and fifteen, recovery is slower and more restriction on eating and foods....not sure but? Friend used same Dr in Sept and has lost 78 pounds in 12 weeks with bypass. She is not eating even 500 calories a day and lossing..ouch. I hope to do it right and hope I choose this change to the bypass wisely,. BMI is so high. My friend went from a size 30 to size 18 today. I just want to get to a normal size again, I was embarrased on the plane when they asked me to move away from the emergency exit as I has a seat belt extension. Preop Nov 26 Surgery Dec 3....I cant gain any weight from now to then and am gettng nervous.

Hey there! Sorry I just found this note from you today. I had my surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Pedro Kuri who I think the world of! I had to self pay too-total was $7500 US plus the flight from Canada and back for my hubby and me. The cost effectiveness was one of the main reasons I researched this surgeon. He is amazing and the facility is spotless. He has performed over 4000 lapband surgeries and I have been feeling fine. Love the fact that you've already given up carbonation-that's great-I did too which was tough 'cuz I LOVED my beer but, it's a small price to pay considering the benefits of the band. Be prepared to work hard with diet and exercise after being banded-that's the most important thing. Something you could start doing now is taking smaller bites, chewing really well and slowing down with your eating. I'm still learning to do that and I am sure I will every day. I'm 43 so I completely understand you wanting to "start your life" - and you WILL! GOOD LUCK!!!
