    Constipation SOS

doesn't the fiber add more gas to the mix? I'm to the point where my stomach hurts all the time whether I eat or not, drink or not...and I've been taking Miralax for the past week. I've been going but the gas is atrocious and very painful and doesn't go away!!! Any ideas??
  2. I was banded in Nov 2006. I started having the same bloated painful feeling about 6 months after surgery. It's been getting increasingly worse and more constant. I went into the general practioner and couldn't find a cause. I've got an appointment with a gastroenterologist in a couple of weeks. I hope they have an answer for me because it's very very painful and frustrating. I can't seem to eat anything that won't upset my stomach anymore. I wish you luck and I hope you keep me posted as I will you.

    Too much gas!

I've been banded for 8 months now and the past few weeks have been nothing but problems with gas! My stomach is so full of gas that it's about twice the size and very painful! It was so bad last night that I couldn't stand up straight. Gas-X hasn't really helped much, but I took a laxative last night because I figured what ever is in there needs to come out. I'm feeling a bit better today, but I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems and what can be done. Should I talk to the doctor about this gas problem? It seems to be getting worse over the past few months but I can't associate it to any specific foods. Any responses would be great!
  4. I thought I was totally alone in this whole zoloft situation. I was taking generic zoloft prior to being banded with no problems. After being banded the company that makes the generic brand changed the shape of the pills. I was having the same sort of burning extreme pain/heartburn feeling that has been described in this thread. I had the pharmacy change me back to the old style generic pills, which are thinner than the newer style and that seemed to work. Prior to that I tried cutting them in half, taking them with milk, and eating with, before, and or after taking the pill and nothing worked. Thankfully I found something that did work. I'm just glad to hear that I'm not the only one with these problems!

    Tired all the time!!!

Does anyone else have this problem? Literally I am tired all the time. I wake up after a good 8 hours and can sleep the rest of the day if I was allowed. I was banded in November and have to admit that I'm not consistant on taking my Vitamins. Could this be the problem? I believe I'm getting enough Protein. Is it just me? This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I need to get some energy!!!! I've also been having a HUGE problem with night sweats (don't know if that's related to the problem or not). Anyone have advise, or have a similar story?? Thanks!

I also just thought about it and I'm on Zoloft. That can cause my night sweats....fyi.

    November Bandsters!

The dissapearing fill....a mystery. I went for my second fill early this month. Didn't feel any additional restriction. Supposedly that should have brought me up to 1.5cc. So I scheduled another fill. I went in and she pulled out only .5cc (my first fill amount)....so where'd the other fill go??? It's a mystery. However, I now have about 1.6cc...and I am definately feeling a difference, but I'm stuck in a rut with the weightloss...nothing lost for about 4 weeks. The dr's scales says differently of course! FRUSTRATING!

    Tired all the time!!!

yeah...no sleep apnea here. Thanks for the advise...I think I'll go back to my regular vitamins and add in some iron. I was taking Centrum chewable, but my regular vitamins had a lot more stuff in them. (GNC Women's active). I also have been diagnosed borderline anemic, but that was years ago. However, I know that once you're anemic it's difficult to maintain a good balance of iron. And the whole blood pressure thing...yes I take meds for that. I should have my bp checked!!! Thank you all for your advise!!!!

How is the LB when you are sick, flu, etc?

I had a personal experience with this. It was about 1 1/2 months after surgery and I got the stomach flu. I absolutely could not vomit no matter how much I wanted to. It must have been the band stopping it. All I could say is get plenty of rest and fluids. Cranberry juice mixed with 7 -up works for me expecially if I'm nauseas.

    What the Heck!!!

Okay people who have been through this...I need advise! I was banded Nov. 8th. Had some restriction with the band at first. Now thinking back I think it was more from the swelling of surgery. Had my first fill Dec. 20th 1cc. Didn't think it was helping much still hungry often and able to eat pretty much like I did before band. Went back in for a fill this past Thursday, Jan 4th. I got another .5cc totalling 1.5cc. I still feel like I have little to no restriction. Should I wait a while before going back in for another fill or just get in there? Just so you know what little to no restriction is...I can eat a whole plate of food and just barely start to feel the satisfied feeling. I also have absolutely no problem with meats, breads, raw veggies...etc. Please! Advise needed!!! Thanks everyone!

    November Bandsters!

I guess it's just a real fine line between feeling restriction and not. I know it's different for everyone, but at this point I can eat everything I could before the band...so hopefully this next fill will remedy that.

    What the Heck!!!

just got off the phone with the dr. They said that it usually takes about 4-5 days to feel the full effects of a fill. So I have my 3rd fill scheduled for next week. They'll probably give me .5cc fill that will bring me up to 2cc. I don't know how much my band holds, but the receptionist said that I have a #10 band. wish me luck!

    November Bandsters!

just got off the phone with the dr. and i'll be getting my 3rd fill Jan 16th. I'm guessing they'll give me a .5cc fill bringing me up to 2cc. The receptionist said I have the small band the #10, but she wasn't sure how much it holds....I'm assuming it's the 4cc band. Wish me luck!

    November Bandsters!

I can't believe that you got that large of a fill for your first. I have had 2 fills now and together they total 1.5cc...wow! I don't know what to say! That's very aggressive with the fills...no wonder you have a hard time keeping things down! Take care! -Michelle

    Newly Banded and Hopeful!

I too was banded at NWWLS. I had Dr. Montgomery. Even though I only talked to him that little bit when I did the first consult he was very nice. I have had nothing but good experiences with NWWLS and I find it very impressive how pretty much everyone who works there has had the band. Good luck and keep in touch. Maybe I'll see you at a support meeting?? As far as liquid stage...I wasn't too hungry at that point. mushy stage I was very creative with that one but again...not too hungry. Now I'm at the stage where everything is healed and am trying to get to my restriction point. It's a journey that's for sure! Take care! -Michelle, Arlington

    What the Heck!!!

you know what...that's a good question. When did you have surgery and how many fills and how often did you have them?

    Any one in NW WA

Tammy, You may want to try your insurance company again. When I called my insurance company they said the same thing. However, what I found out was that they do not cover it unless it is considered a medical necessity. I am banded now, insurance paid for 90%. I did have to get the obesity lawyers to help me fight the insurance company, but Inamed (manufacturer of Lapband) paid for the lawyers fees. Good Luck! Let me know if I can help! -Michelle

    Any one in NW WA

did you go through insurance? If so, and they denied, you may want to try the obesity lawyers. They helped me. I didn't even have to pay the lawyer's fees. Inamed paid for them. Good luck. Cheers!

    November Bandsters!

I am curious if anyone else is going in for their 2nd fill. I got my first fill Dec. 20th. They did a moderate 1 cc fill since I was feeling some restriction with just the band. However, I am not losing any weight and have been up and down a few pounds since the fill. I think I can eat more than I should be able to eat at this point. And I get hungry in between meals. Should I give it a couple more weeks or go ahead and get another fill?

    The downside of being banded.

A lot of local lap band support groups have clothing swaps. Personally, I'm looking forward to swimming in my clothes!

Thank you for providing this info. I was unaware on how much protein is actually needed!
  24. Hi everyone! I just got banded on Wednesday, Nov. 8th. I've been sleeping pretty much all the time since then. Yesterday and today I've had the horrible shoulder pains from gas and I can't seem to alieviate it. I have been taking Gas-x and that doesn't help. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks, Michelle

    Gas Pains....what a pain!

I know what you mean by feeling you can eat anything....I'm soooo hungry! It's taken all my will power not to eat what I'm making the fam for dinner and just stick to my soup.
