Carbgrl, I was banded on 4/21/09 and had my first PB last night also, it was awful, I ate some fish no problem, then stupid me later I wanted something crunchy so I ate about 10 Reduced Fat cheese Nips chewed them really good, and then they got stuck and before I thought about it I took a big swig of my Water and I new immediately what was going to happen and it did! It was awful and it was just like everyone described. I guess it was my own fault though. I had my first fill this past Monday and she put 5 cc's in my 10cc band and so I've been really tight and I should've known better but you know live and learn  You may have to stay away from chicken for awhile and then try again later, hope you do okay  Theresa

First Fill, not too bad!!
Ttime1020 replied to Ttime1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, my nut. told me if it started feeling to tight after awhile to come back in and she would take some out, I'm on liquids for 2 days so we'll see... Hopefully though I won't have too though... Must be nice to vacation in Hawaii, but if you're a doctor you can vacation anywhere you want too.. -
Well, I went for my first fill today after being banded 6 weeks ago, I lost 19 lbs and down 4.5 % on my BMI, WOOHOO!! After my nut. found out I was able to eat anything she filled my AP Standard 10cc band with 5 cc's, I thought this might be too much but she seemed to think it would be fine, I drank some Water before I left and it did'nt seem to get stuck then when I got home I had a slim fast and now I'm full... Hopefully I will start losing a little bit each week without much hunger. Thanks to everyone for all their advice since I've been on here, it has really helped. Theresa

I was just talking to a friend about this this morning, and I never really thought about getting a tattoo but now I'm thinking that once I lose the weight I might get one just a small one on my ankle or my back to symbolize what I've done and accomplished. My DH may not be too happy about it but we'll see.... Theresa

By now, you should be able to take your medication by pill form unless they're gigantic then you may have to cut them in half. My doctor said I could start taking my daily medications the day after surgery. If you're not sure just check with your doctor before taking them. Theresa

I was given liquid Hydrocodone, it worked really good, too good, I had trouble not relying on it and eventually had too wean myself off it. It did taste bad, but I was in so much pain for about the first week after my surgery, I didn't care! Theresa:lol:

What exactly is your stomach healing from?
Ttime1020 replied to wishinghoping's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty much understood about the swelling and all but after watching the video on You Tube I understand more now about why you need to give yourself time to heal, wow! -
Which surgery was the most uncomfortable?
Ttime1020 replied to Dreamjeans's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my gallbladder removed over 25 years ago and was not done laproscopically but with a large cut and over 25 staples and a couple of drainage tubes hanging out, I was pregnant at the time so I would have to say compared to Lapband it was the worse, I did have my tubes tied after a C-section and had a lot of cramping aftewards. The biggest problem with with the Lapband was the gas pains in my back and under my ribs these lasted for almost 2 weeks no matter what I did to get rid of it. I am now 3.5 weeks post op and feel great, I was only in the hospital for a 1/2 the day for my Lapband and I also had an Endometrial Asblation done at the same time so overall I think I did good . Good luck on your surgery... -
Hi, I'm from Albany, Ga and was banded on 4/21/09 and so far so good, Dr. Burnette at Albany Surgical placed my band at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. I did the Sugar Busters Diet 2 weeks pre-op and now I'm doing liquids and next week start mushies, and am I excited. Overall the surgery was fine I had very little gas and no nausea they take plenty of precautions for that. I will have my first fill on 6/2 and hopefully won't be to hungry before that. Good luck to all of those getting banded in the future. Theresa

First PB or was it?
Ttime1020 replied to Ttime1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone, the grits did not come back up it was just the pain medicine. Maybe my back pain is what made me sick, it was hurting really bad when I took the pain medicine but after I threw up or whatever it was my back felt a little better. I just know I'm ready for this back pain to be over, it's really the only thing bothering me and I was planning on going back to work today but I just can't stand the pain. I'm trying not to take any pain medication today except liquid tylenol to see if that will be enough since I can't work and take the other. Theresa -
First PB or was it?
Ttime1020 replied to Ttime1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did find it strange that on week two I could graduate to watery grits, cream of wheat as long as it was watery, but I won't have them again. I'll stick to just liquids and then week 3 I'm allowed to start having mushies. My pain in shoulder has subsided some but my back pain is still pretty bad sometimes but it has been since my surgery, some say it could still be the gas and then it could be that I had another procedure done at the same time and I was laying on that OR table a long time. Thanks for the responses, I'm taking it one day at a time. -
I was banded last Tuesday the 21st and so far so good, tonight I had a couple of Tbsp's of watery grits and then my back started hurting really bad so I tried to walk it off thinking it was just gas, so then when it didn't subside I took a small dose of pain medication and then I got sick it was more than just a burp up of some of the pain medication I did it several times, now my left shoulder is sore (same side as port) but I don't have the back pain, do you think I could've done some damage I know that band slippage can occur when you have this happen soon after surgery. Should I call my doctor tomorrow or just see how it goes? Thanks for any help. Theresa

Hi everyone! well got banded last tuesday the 21st and overall it went great, I did have another procedure done at the same time and I have been in a lot of pain because of it. Also, I'm having some real bad back pain in my upper back across the middle don't know if it's gas pain or from laying on the operating room table for so long, I have been using my gas-x strips and walking so I'm thinking it's from laying on the table so long. I'm still kind of out of it because of pain meds but I'll post more later, congrats to all the others who were banded this past week. Theresa:wink2:
