  1. My band is slipped and I'd like to know what people have done to fix, repair or move-on to other surgery after a slippage. I'm know my doc said "discuss surgery options" because he's making me bring hubby to appointment - any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

I haven't heard that from my insurance yet, the insurance woman seems awesome and told me to come back for my "next month" check-up but that we'd work on getting the sleeve approved quickly because of my "complication" of my band slipping. Now I've gained from Feb 2013 - 205 to current 242. I can eat anything - no more "stuck" either since all the fluid is out. But I guess it depends on insurance. I have CIGNA OAP. I am pleased with replacing the band with the sleeve. No more fills - wasn't fond of the giant needle .

How do you fix a "slippage"

Update: Surgeon def wants to replace band with sleeve. He understood my honesty with moving away from my first doc, failing myself and not following up with support. Support is a KEY FACTOR! He feels that I will do even better with weight loss with the sleeve and maybe even reach that 100lb goal! I would love it. A huge development that will be a major factor in my success is my husband is going to do it as well. I will get done first, because of my "complication" - he has to follow the 6mth weight loss, insurance guidelines, etc. But he's got several health issues such as HBP, Sleep Apnea, etc. so this will ultimately help him immensely and keep us doing it together! Now my goal is to try and eat smaller, better and with my eyes open for the next few months till we get all in order for sleeve surgery.

    Quick question...Myth or Fact?

Ditto GUY - I've been on several flights since my banding in 08 and never experienced any issues. I believe myth, but ask your doctor just to be on the safe side.

How do you fix a "slippage"

Overeating - "stuck" - ultimately causing the slip. me and only me. I was a band patient for several years after my very successful first year. I moved away, far away, from home b/c of economic slow-down and my hubs loosing his job, went into a depression, ate bad...threw up from "stuck" a lot. I've been honest with my doc and myself and am just praying it can be fixed. I don't want to live life without it - I've already gained back a tremendous amount of weight.

    Depressed

Day 3 - gas - WTF moment for me. Now I'm years out and having a WTF moment cause I broke the band...it slipped from too much eating and p'bing. You will LOVE this tool, if you follow the instructions. Eat light, eat healthy, exercise, etc. The few more days you have of feeling like poo, until you poo and you can have a mushy food will pass and you'll be pounds down at your doc! Don't be depressed - LB are awesome! You'll be fine.
  9. I am just eager to know what my options include. I am going to try to "diet" until a decision is made. I've been sort of binging with no reason.
  10. I'm asking almost the same question. I have a slipped band and need some kind of revision, fix or change of surgery. Are you a band going to something else?

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

I have a "slipped" band and my doc is going to propose fix-all's next week. I'm looking at the sleeve b/c I did and EXCESSIVE amount of Pb'ing - getting stuck - etc. I just found out its slipped and no nothing about my options. What I do know is that I was a good patient for the first year, then I started eating a little more, and more, and more. After that came the ice cream, cake, blah blah. Then I realized something was up - after 40lbs of weight came back - REALLY fast. I lost the brain communication that I once loved. When the band was first placed food sounded GROSS. I could go all day on a super-duper King Smoothie and a small dinner...now I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, 3-4 cookies, blah blah blah. I'm praying my insurance covers something - and would seriously like to know more about the sleeve and how it works. Sincerely, Respectfully - "Band Shot" - Karen

Any bandsters in the Daytona area??

I am new to PO & just found a new Dr. His name is Birkendal and he works out of the Florida Hospital Ormond of Williamson Rd. I think he's wonderful and his staff is awesome. I am a bad LB patient. My story is long and not a good ending, thus far. I ruined my band by not being a good patient. I'm seeing the Doc next week for surgery consult, but all in all my first few experiences with him/them have been wonderful. I am also seeking good counseling and support group info from their offices. Once I get it, I will share.

  14. thanks Guy! would someone share what pliation is?
  15. Hi everyone! I had my band place in Dec 08. I was a very bad patient after loosing most of my weight. I'm now climbing back up with a 40lb gain & have a slipped band. Had a fluoro done yesterday and consult for surgery next Tuesday - any thoughts on what's next? Do they take out the old, replace with new band, go for Sleeve...has anyone had this issue and surgery all in one shot, i.e., take out old, replace band or do sleeve. I'm not keen on surgery and feeling like a big failure. Pointer, experiences will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, Karen

    first upper gi and un-fill

Just had Fluoroscopy yesterday and they unfilled completely after taking the picture and determining my band (08) has slipped. I knew I something was wrong, gained 40lbs in 6 months and haven't seen a Dr. in YEARS...very bad patient here too ----- I am sad that I have to go under the knife for fixing my band, but as you said - its a tool that I took forgranted. Best of luck to you with Cross Fit and controlling your eating. Food is my crack and I hate it. I ruined the part of the band that told the brain - food is yuck...

    Failure

Boy can I relate to "owning up to mistakes" - I did my band in 08, lost about 80lbs, and didn't see a doc for 4 years. No upper GI, etc. I've gained back 40lbs and can eat ANYTHING. I feel like a big fat, getting fatter, failure. I sout out a new doctor and by the grace of GOD its covered under my new insurance. Oh yeah, I was a 14k SELF pay - so I basically wasted 14k because I'm not following banding rules at all. On my own accord. I eat solids, bad choices, don't exercise anymore. I blame "life". My husband lost his job, moved us across country, literally, FL to Vermont, and I never did anything good up there. I enjoyed Ben & Jerry's ice cream like a fool, but didn't really start to put the weight back on till the past couple months during a very serious health scare (not me, my hubs), but now he's fine and I'm getting fatter. My psychological problems are what kill me...I eat for happy, sad, mad, etc. Also, when I first had the band the doc told me "its placed where it talks to the brain and tells the brain via signal, food yuck, don't eat" - which was VERY true...but I think I ruined that signal & probably stretched my pouch. YOU ARE NOT alone. I've read a lot of great people advice on here - get back on the "band wagon" - first, and I did this myself - FIND A NEW DOCTOR. I was so happy when I called my insurance and found out I could go see a doc and not pay OOP. I'm having a Fluoro next Tuesday and can't wait to see if the doc can get me back where I'm in "Onderland" --- so, my only advice is --- Try to stop the soda...not good at all, really in all respects, sugar, empty calories, carbonation, etc. GET A NEW DOC. Don't give up on yourself. I also plan to ask my doc about support groups. I have a "fat" family - they all eat and truly have never been a good support system for me. Best of luck - call a new DOC!
  20. I was banded in 08 & lost 80lbs - went into "onderland" for a while - now I'm battling cravings, eating everything, over-eating, etc. I spent four years out of state and didn't have a check-up. Tuesday I'm going to have a fluro, but I'm sure something isn't right. I crave food, I'm hungry, I can eat way more than 4 ounces of food at a meal and just feel like a failure. Not to mention very uncomfortable in my tight clothes that are getting tighter. I eat when I'm happy, sad, glad, celebrating, frustrated, etc...get my point...I'm always eating. Has anyone ruined the band and then had a sleeve? The thing I worry about most is I've lost the "brain function" - when I first had this procedure my brain didn't crave any food - nothing tasted good - I had to force myself to eat...now I just eat, because I can - because I'm bored, sad, mad and so - on...anyone care to share pointers? My new Doc is seeing me next Tuesday for a fluro and I'm eager to see what he finds. I've gained since Feb 35lbs...not good. Help - anyone!

    Stretched out pouch

Hey Hihi everyone - I'm new/old - was on this site a while ago, when I first banded. I saw your post about stretched pouch and I'm there! How's your's doing? I am going for fluro next Tuesday - haven't seen a doctor in 4 years - basically right after my year anniversary I moved away and never saw a doc again. I lost almost 100lbs, but have gained back 50 and counting. Since my first appointment with the new bariatric doc I've gained about 7 pounds. When I first had the band done food did not taste good and I had to force myself to eat, well I moved away to a place where I got very depressed, smoked a lot of marijuana (doc's up there said it was great for depression, "Better than any atavan, Xanax or coloaphin" and thus I started the stretch. But I only gained about 15lbs. Now my husband went through a very stressful medical condition and I ate my way through it. I'm getting out of control. Clothes don't fit, rolls everywhere, mind is just sad and all I keep doing is gaining - since March I was 212, 217 at primary doc, 225 started a job today 240lb...or more. Any advice other than fluro, unfill, etc. I'm afraid I'm going to get back to my old size 280 very soon.
  24. Very nice - I'm impressed and I think checking you out might just need the motivation I need! Your a very attractive woman...
  25. Found me! Yeah - I'm on it TOO much but that is because I'm on the Internet searching for a life...you'll see. Does you family walk with you? I wish mine would b/c I'd do that in a minute just because it's good for all of us. Husband doesn't know how to put down the PS3 - soon when I'm hot and he's not - he'll be putting it down and heading to the gym! In the mean time I'm kickin ass and taking names! Gotta find my super model soon...she's dying to come out!
