Hey girls! I talked to Candy tonight for a few minutes and she's in a good amount of pain. She's just trying to walk and rest and hoping to get some sleep tonight. I'm sure she'll post soon. She got to leave at noon and was home around 2 so she had a good part of the day back at home to start recovering.

I just heard from JT again and they're on the way home already! Nice and early for them, that's so nice. Congrats girl, I can't wait to hear from you when you're feeling up to it! Please let me know if you need anything at all.

Hey girls, just talked to JT and Candy got out of surgery a little after 9am. Dr. Baggs said everything went perfect and they'll probably head home around noon (but we know how that can go!) Yay! I'm so glad it's over for her, now to just get past the next few days that suck SO bad.

Candy I am so excited for you! You're gonna be awesome and after tomorrow you will be so glad you did it even when you're in pain! The emotional part is normal, I am still mourning soda, pasta, rice and bread and probably will. But giving that stuff is so worth being a healthy skinny bitch! LOL!!! I find myself feeling kindof bitter when people are eating things that I love and can't have but I know that will get better when l can eat real food again. Luckily we all have each other to vent to and make us remember why we did his and how RIGHT of a decision this was. Love all you girls! You are the only people in my life that can 100% understand all that I am feeing right now and that is priceless to me! (((hugs)))

Hi Candra! Nice to meet you! After surgery you'll be in recovery for a couple hours. Than they wheel you downstairs to the radiology dept to do what they call a "barium swallow". They have you stand up on this platform up against the xray table and while they watch you on a monitor you take a couple sips of barium, this thick fruity, chalky stuff. They watch on the monitor as you swallow it and make sure that it goes through the band fast enough but not too fast. It only takes a few minutes and then they whell you back up into recovery. Good luck to you! I'm excited to hear about your journey.

It was such a blast! I wish you girls could've been there. We were there for 2 hours I think, but our waitress was awesome and didn't make us feel rushed to get out of there. I'm just home for a second changing my underwear, lol. They are SO FREAKING big and keep bunching up on me so I came home, threw them away, and changed into a smaller pair. NSV for me...yay! Also, this afternoon the glue came off of my last 2 incisions (port and the one next to it!) I'm so glad, I don't feel like I have "wounds" anymore, just nice skinny fresh little scars. Nicole, I'm also wearing the long brown dockers SIZE 18 thankyouverymuch! I can't believe they fit and they look so cute! I love that we're the same height cuz they're the perfect length. My bff is here to pick me up to go shopping before girls night so I gotta jam, but it was great seeing you all today! Someone should post the pics...I think me and Nicole have them, mine are a bit blurry so Nicole if yours are better maybe you can post them. I'll check in tonight. Bye y'all!

Yay Donna, you might be coming! I'll add you on the head count when I call, I thought you weren't going to be able to make it but I really hope you can! It's really weird that I'm not having the "bandster hell" issues. I'm rarely hungry, I just know I need to eat 3 times a day, but I think the reason I'm not hungry is that I'm just so not interested in the foods that I'm allowed to eat right now. THAT'S my bandster hell, I suppose. I'm just glad I'm not hungry while only eating about 400-700 cals a day. My PCP appt was one that I really looked forward to and I really enjoyed it. My doctor knows a lot about Lapband and has 6 or 7 Lapband patients currently that have just been banded within the last 6 months. She said everyone is doing fantastic and have had no complications and are really happy with their bands. We got to talk about my goal weight (we had never addressed it before, it was too depressing for me!) and my thyroid issues and stuff. She is a really nice lady and has been my doctor for a long time and I just love her. We're all doing so well and I'm so excited to see you all in person and see how awesome we're all doing!! See ya in a few hours!

Staples, Stitches or Glue?
swishbc replied to Suzdavis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had glue. I have glue only on 2 incisions, my port and the one next to it. The other 3 are all glue-free and are nice, small pretty scars. I'm pretty pleased with how they look and I'm only 3 1/2 weeks post-op, so I know they'll get lighter and lighter over time. -
Thanks! She sure is a cutie, but when she's around people she doesn't know she gets really shy and just wants to whisper to me and it's kinda tough to hold any other conversations, lol.

I'm excited to see you all tomorrow! Noon at Mimi's Cafe in Natomas, right? So for the head count I think we'll have: Me, Reggie, Candy, Nicole, Tina and maybe Pam? Am I missing anyone? I'll call in the morning and see if I can put us on a call ahead list for 6 so we won't have to wait very long when we got there. I'm looking forward to it! I've got a sitter this time too so I can actually have a conversation with you girls...last time was a little tough with Sophie. See ya tomorrow!

4 days left of mushies/pureed food! b-1/3 cup cream of wheat with 10 chocolate chips on top  l-pintos n cheese from Taco Bell d-2 small bites of green curry chicken--YUM! s-3/4 cup frozen yogurt
-
Interesting stuff, Riley! I remember them talking about that at the wls support group at Kaiser a couple months ago. Well, I'm back on a losing streak again! Yay! I've lost a couple lbs in the last 2 days, lets hope it keeps up long enough to get into the 230's in the next day or so. I'm thinking maybe I wasn't getting in enough water the last few days... Feeling much better today and I'm determined to make the rest of this week awesome! Tomorrow will be lots of fun too.

5 days left of mushies/purees! b-1/4 c applesauce l-hot chocolate--bad I know, but I'm SO not interested in food during this pureed stage. d-1 tsp mashed up chicken, 2 tbsp of watermelon, 1/4 c mashed garlic cauliflower s-gonna have decaf sf vanilla coffee tonight after I workout
-
Geez, salad after 12 weeks? Boo, I miss salad. I know we could probably eat it but probably shouldn't, it's kind of a fibrous thing for out little tummies to digest. How are you cooking your eggs? Are you pureeing them? Ick. Tonight I cooked cauliflower, then with my hand blender I blended it with 1/4 parm cheese, 1 tbsp cream cheese, 1/2 tsp crushed garlic and salt and pepper. It was REALLY good and a lot less carbs than the mashed potatoes that I've been eating. I recommend it! Tina, be careful with the exercise...you'll feel fine for a while but if you do to much your body (port and insides by your tummy) will TOTALLY let you know! I felt all shaky and dizzy and REALLY sore last week after walking too much. Also, remember you don't have very many calories in your body these days and you don't have much to run off of. That's weird about your period! Mine was on time for the first time in a year and really short and light...NOT how it normally is! I don't know if it's because of the surgery or because I've lost 56 lbs and my body is getting more normal. I hope it stays that way though!
-
I feel the same way! I was banded on 4/6 just over 3 weeks ago and I have to tell myself it's time to eat even though I'm not hungry. I feel like I could eat once a day and be happy but I know I can't do that. It's a weird feeling to not be hungry, quite the opposite of the way I used to be! I'm sure part of it is that I'm on crappy mushy/pureed food stage and nothing is very appealing to me. I'm assuming next week when I'm on soft foods I'll be more interested when I can more normal things like cheese, deli meat, small amounts of toast, veggies, etc... You're not alone!
-
So, I'm gonna try to do my Biggest Loser workout tonight in a very modified way. I'm gonna hop on the treadmill at NO incline and maybe 2-2.5 mph and walk for as long as I can, I'm sure it won't be for the whole 2 hour show and I probably won't even work up a sweat but it's better than nothin'! I'm tired of being tired. I just want to eat "normal", exercise normal, be normal. This is getting old...feeling kinda down today. I don't know why, I just am. I'm ready to feel like Christine again. Blah.

singing after surgery
swishbc replied to Baba'schild's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sing too and am an alto. I'm 3 weeks out and have no problem taking a nice deep breath and singing is definitely easier than it was 56 lbs ago! I don't think you'll have a problem at all! Good luck! -
OMG Reggie, I've been dying for you to post here after talking to you this morning, wanted to see all the ecstatic responses to your surgery date. You got a quick one, you lucky girl! Don't feel too bad about the In-n-Out burger, I drove through that Hilltop Mall location after EVERY appt I had in Richmond and splurged! I was usually starving from not eating all morning so my weigh in's would be nice to me, lol. I'm so excited to meet up on Thursday, we should get a head count and see who all will be there!
-
I had the same problem and I just kept pushing the front middle of my bra (where the incision was) down all day so it wouldn't be resting right on the incision. That worked for me...
-
REGGIE!!! I'm dying here! How did your CM appt go yesterday? Did you get a date? I was thinking about you all day and waiting for you to text me, call me or post here! I didn't hear from ya so I'm bugging you today til I get a hold of you, lol! I hope it all went great and can't wait to hear all about it!
-
I'm a loser again! After seeing the EXACT same number on the scale for 4 days I'm finally down almost another pound. I was starting to get annoyed. I've never hit a plateau and don't want to anytime soon! I'm thinking my body just needed some time to get used to the new mushy food that I'm eating and got stuck for a few days. Anyway, looks like I'm a loser again and I'm happy with being THIS kind of a loser, lol!
-
I'll bring my camera on Thursday, taking a photo every time is a good idea...we can watch ourselves shrink right before our eyes! I can't wait to have our lunch date NEXT month when we're all on real food! (aww, except Candy...sorry dude  ) I have a sitter for Thursday so no Sophie this time, that'll be way more fun for me.
-
One more week of mushies! b-hot chocolate l-1/2 c mashed potates w/cheddar cheese and lite sour cream d-1/2 c ff refried beans w/ cheese and hot sauce
-
Noon works for me too! I'm eating either 1/3 or 1/2 cup of food at every meal. I don't really find myself feeling hungry until RIGHT when it's time to eat, but it's not a STARVING feeling, just like I feel like I could eat. I'm glad though that I haven't had bad hunger...just HEAD hunger. I'm getting really excited for starting soft foods, I keep thinking of all the recipes I'm gonna make! I have jury duty starting tomorrow morning, wish me luck that it doesn't last more than a day and that I DON'T get picked!
-
I had the same feeling at 5 days post-op and I bought some GasX thin strips (the ones that melt on your tongue). I took one and about 15 minutes later had the longest burp ever and instantly felt better! I haven't had that pain since...I think it was just residual gas from surgery. Try that, maybe it'll help you! I can definitely feel your pain, but it WILL get better in a few days I promise. At 7 days post op I was starting to get out and about and remembering what it felt like to be "normal".
