Please add me to the challenge. As much as I would like to try to reach 15 lbs lost by xmas . . .and onelander . . . I am a slow loser so I am going to commit to 10 lbs. I have lost a total of 60 lbs since Jan. 5, surgery was March 20. I just got back to the gym after 5 weeks of my kids or me being sick. I spin 3 days a week and strength train 1-2 days per week. I love pizza and make a pizza dip, spread a little cream cheese in a dish, add pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and any topping you like and bake or microwave. Either eat with a spoon or sometimes I can digest tortilla chips. Any bread is hard for me to digest since I have alot of restriction. This should help with the pizza cravings.

I work out 6 days per week. I spin (high intensity work out on a bike, group fitness class) 3 days per week (1 hour per class). I strength train 2x per week, this is a one hour body pump class and on those days I also do the eliptical or jog on the track for 1/2 hour. Plus I do 1 outdoor bike ride, approx 15 miles, once per week. You need the exercise to really lose the weight. I am down 42 lbs, had surgery 3/23/09, but lost 15 lbs prior to surgery.

I was approved within 48 hours. Call highmark and make sure they got your claim and ask where it is in the process.

I was banded on 3-23. I had a fill 1 week ago and I have lost 6 lbs this week for a total loss of 35 (16 pre-op and 17 post op). I work out 5-6 days a week at the gym spinning and doing strength training. I feel pretty good restriction with my first fill so I will see how long that lasts. good luck to everyone.

I was banded 3/20. I am down 30 lbs total. I lost 18 before surgery and 12 since surgery. I am back to the gym for spinning and strength training 4-5 days a week. I can feel some restriction but get hungery after a couple of hours. Will have my 1st fill on 4/28. Hoping that will help with the hunger. Good luck to all. Heather

I was banded on Monday 3/23. I am feeling much better now that I am 3 days post op. All I can say is take your pain meds, don't skip, take them every 4 hours. I thought I would be okay just taking tylonol the day after surgery and did way too much on my first day post op. I am now just feeling better. Good luck to all of you getting banded this week

I just met with my doctor for the pre op visit. I was thinking that surgery would be in 2-3 weeks but he had a cancelation on Monday and can put me in that slot. I have to do a liquid diet starting tomorrow and report at 10:30 on Monday morning. My surgery will be at 1 pm. Very excited. I started my lapband journey in August 08 when I attended the seminar, did the 6 month diet and got my approval from insurance on March 9th. Lap band surgery scheduled: 3-23-09!!!!!!!! To lapbandgirl2009 - I had my last visit with dietian on Tuesday 3-3, they sent to insurance 3-6, approved 3-7. My doctor requires a 4 day liquid diet before surgery, not two weeks. I have my pre surgical consult on 3-20, hoping for surgery the week of 4-6 but I have no idea when I will be scheduled until I go on 3-20. good luck to you!!!!!!!!

Well, I got insurance approval friday, now i have my pre-op appointment with the surgeon on March 20th. I have no idea of a surgery date until that appointment. Geez, all this waiting is torture. How long do other have to wait from their appointment with the surgeon and the actual surgery. I am thinking that my surgery will be sometime after the second week in April. Good luck to all.

I have highmark PPO (blue cross/blue shield), I just called my ins today and they said my surgery has been approved (1 day after dr. sent it in). I HAD to do thhe 6 month supervised diet. My dr. office handled everything, told me all the appoints, etc. I had to do and once I did everything the approval was a snap. Good luck to you

I have highmark blue PPO. They required a six month diet, the upper gi, pych, blood test, etc. etc. etc. My insurance company told me I was approved, just waiting for the docs to call and set up my pre surgical visit and surgery. I just know they will try and schedule it for the 2nd or 3rd of April when I am already committed to run the PTO Bingo night at my kids school! I will just have to find a date that will work. I am hoping to lose 80lbs. I will have to do 3-4 day liquid diet before the surgery and 2 days clear after. I am getting the realize band. I went to the seminar back in August 08 (called in June 08 to sign up) so I am sick of the waiting. I feel like I am totally ready to do this.

I just called my insurance company today and they told me the surgery has been approved but that it just went through is morning so the doctors office probably does not have the approval yet. I am really hoping to have the surgery complete within the month. I guess it just depends upon how far out they are scheduling things at this point. I am hoping the doctors office will call me Monday to schedule my pre surgical consult with the doctor. I am so ready to have this done. I have been dieting and exercising for so many years. I just want to get a major loss and be able to maintain. I already do the exercise part (6x per week, spinning, strength training). I really think the lap band is my solution. Let me know when you get your surgery dates!

I am at the same stage as you. I had my last appointment on Tuesday. I was on the 6 month diet. Lost about 12 lbs during that time. My doctor's office is suppose to submit my paperwork and said call them if I don't hear from them in 3 weeks. I was really hoping the approval process would happen faster than that.
