I think Im close to mine banded mid Dec, 2 fills since, 6cc in 10cc band, last week about lunch when I was out and about had a craving for fast food which I havnt had since Dec. Ended up at Carls!! got a burger no fries etc and ate about 1/4 of it, about 4-5 bites. That was it all I could eat or want to eat. You really know when you get to that point. Ive lost about 25 lbs since mid Dec, started at 200lbs now close to 175.

taylorgirl1 replied to dfox3325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My group says 1200 per day 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch 500 for dinner , with total of 60-70 grams of protein a day -

taylorgirl1 replied to kaytiebugs's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Anthem BC CA had surgery recently luckily my out of pocket is only $1000, + $250 deductable AND 10% CO PAY I owe the hosp $600, put had to pay 10% before admission which was about $300 so should only owe about $300. My group ha a program fee for after surgery which was $3500 and had to pay that up front not covered by BC so toatl cost of lapband to me about $4800 -
Ate a burger two days after surgery
taylorgirl1 replied to tripi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with above, Im over 3 weeks from banding now and still only on oatmeal and cottage cheese etc. One of the reasons that insurance companies can be reluctant to pay for things like this is there can be a high failure rate and they dont want to have waisted money. It was emphasized to me again and again pre op the band is only a TOOL you have to be in control -
My hospital billed my insurance $44,000 ! I was there less than 24 hrs, the insurance has paid $6000 surgeon billed $5000 they paid $1200! That was BC PPO

Had surgery today-Now I need some favors please.
taylorgirl1 replied to poodles.me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked the Isopure for clears it has 40 gms of protein per bottle and I like the taste of some flavors I dont like the protein milk based shakes so for me the clear is better, now on mushies 2 weeks later but still drinking a bottle of Isopure a day too -
For me Isopure clear liquid protein drink was the best way to get my protein its 40 grms of protein per bottle, also sugar free jello. Another thing I do is whisk up the jello when its liuid with low carb, low fat evaporated milk and let set makes it a little more tasty then reg jello. Have been on mainly clears and some soups for 10 days, start mushy next week , so far down 11lb since banding on 12/15 Good luck its not too bad

$82, 000 LapBand Bill
taylorgirl1 replied to TQUAD64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My co pay just for the hospital room and nurses etc that I had to pay up front before admission was $275 the co pay is 10% thats just for the room, not for md, surgery, iv's meds pre surgery anything like that. So total cost of stay in room from 6pm -10am normally is almost $3000. It adds up what the hospital bills. This was all in a BC Anthem Bariatric Center of Excellence with approved md's etc -

How much time off work?
taylorgirl1 replied to kastoner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im an RN in a busy unit was going to go back after 10 days md told me to take 3 weeks , so Iam , that way get 2 weeks state disability and will be on soft diet when I go back. Was banded a week ago 12/15 and feeling ok now not on narcotic pain med anymore. So I think for a nurse 2-3 weeks is probably right -

taylorgirl1 replied to Neugene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Has anyone been reimbursed after self-pay?
taylorgirl1 replied to ML in VA's topic in Insurance & Financing
Has anyone been reimbursed by BC Anthem S cal for a program fee that you must pay before surgery even though having surgery done with an in network MD and at a BC Center of Excellance. I realise I have to pay before surgery but was thinking of trying to submit a claim to BC afterwards for the program fee -
Feel Like I'm being scammed. Does this sound right???
taylorgirl1 replied to winthropgrad08's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have to pay a $3500 program fee in S cal before surgery, have BC that covers surgery and surgeon but they say they dont pay enough for after care and fills etc. Have to pay or no surgery -
Where Decembers Bandsters?
taylorgirl1 replied to pfrance's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im being banded 12/15 in CA -
Answers to above no I dont work for Anthem but have spent a lot of time over past 2 years getting everything in order so i know what they need printed stuff off website, also Im an Rn so have some medical knowledge. Response to other post I had sleep study done ,it showed moderate sleep apnea and BC would not accept it, my diabetes (mild but taking a po med) was what got me approved. Have bad arthritis in knees but they wont consider that either, they care strict about things Have BMI of 37 weight 200lbs
-
BC Anthem CA If BMI is under 40 you must have a co morbitity for them to approve, ie diabetes needing meds, sleep apnea severe needing Bipap , high bllod pressure, heart disease. They will not consider otherwise. Also surgery must be done at a Bariatric Center of Excellence for them to pay and you co pay will be more if MD is out of network . Go to their website www.anthem.com/ca and you can put in all your info and will tell you exactly what they cover etc
