    Lactose intolerance

Okay everyone, I guess this is weird but here goes. I am over a year post op, and the last two days everytime I eat any dairy products it comes back up. Since i have been on solid food, I have used cheese for a protein source, and it's really weird that all of the sudden this starts happening. I got to wondering about Lactose Intolerance since a friend of mine with gastric bypass developed it after her surgery. I'm pretty sure that it is the lactose because I only get sick when I eat dairy products. I just thought I would check out the Lap band talk and see if others were having this problem, and now I know I am not alone. I have a call in to my nutritionist to see what she says. I doubt I will get a call till Monday. Thanks to all of you that are posting. It really helps others who may be going through the same thing.

Thanks to you too Jason, I was begining to believe I was the only male around. That is other than my Doc. He has been banded as well. I have a wonderful wife though, and I just hope that she continues to love me when I feel "sexy" again. LOL Hope you have a great day.

Thanks for the message April. I am doing better, but I had a minor set back. I passed out in the bathroom and put my head thru the drywall. LOL When I came down I hit the porcelin ? thrown and broke 3 ribs. If you feel dizzy, please sit down. It will save you misery in the long run. Other than that all is going great, and I hope the same for you. If you can't tell, I beleive that Laughter is far better than tears.
  4. I was hunting someone that was banded around my date. (Oct. 30, 2008) I am a veteran of the Army, and now live in Boaz, Alabama. That is about 50 miles south of Huntsville. I wish you the best of luck. Justin Coppett

  5. My name is Justin and I am 32 Years old. I live in North Alabama, and am a disabled funeral director. In 2006 I was injured in an automobile accident and since have had 3 spinal surgeries. I have gone from 186lb running 6 miles non-stop to 312lb and sitting on my derriere. I had my Lap Band installed on Oct. 30, 2008 at Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, AL. My surgeon is the WONDERFUL Dr. John Groves, M.D. I chose him because he has been banded himself. On top of this he is a wonderful surgeon of excellent skill. On top of all this, he actually came to my bedside before surgery and had prayer with me. Might not seem like a lot to others, but I like a man that ask God to guide his hands and give his patients a fast recovery. I am married to my former squad leader (U.S. Army). We met while stationed in Fort Lee, VA. While working in an autopsy lab I needed some help. I ask my squad leader to help me and she had a cute accent. I ask where she was from and she told me Alabama. Well I found out that we are from the same county. LOL We started riding home together on holidays, and the rest is history. We now have 3 sons of our own, and 3 foster sons that live with us. If you have questions just ask. I hope to meet new friends on here, and get support as well as give it to others. I am a Christian and love my family. God Bless, JLCoppett:wink_smile:

  8. I am a newby, Oct. 30, 2008. My doctor is Dr. John Groves. I have to agree with the previous post. Dr. Groves and his staff are awesome. It may be a little bit of a drive to Albertville, but the care from this staff is well worth it. Best Of Luck, JLCoppett
  9. DPerez01, I had my surgery on Oct 30, 08. My doc let me have caffeine up to my NPO time on the night before surgery. Instead of coffee, I was a Diet M.D. addict. I am now 3 days post-op, and it's hard to believe, but I have been okay without it. The morning after surgery one of the things that I was served in the hospital was coffee. It is a clear liquid, so you can have it. Hope this helps, JLCoppett
