I can't believe how frustrated I was when I started this thread. Finally the time is here. I have my surgery this Thursday 4/2 and I started the process on 8/30 so 7 months. Which is what they told us at the beginning I had just hoped that it would have gone quicker. Good luck to everyone who will soon be having their surgery. I will let you know how it went for me. Glad to see there are others besides me for April. I am at South San Francisco Kaiser. I had my psych and preop class today. Not really helpful but I am jumping through the hoops. They cancelled my anesthesia appt that was on the 20th so now I have to go the 19th for anesthesia and the 20th for my final surgeon vist right before surgery. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't 1 1/2 hours away, but it means another day off from work. I don't know how I missed it in my book but I did find out today that I won't ever be able to eat popcorn again. That is too bad since it is low fat and I really do like it. Let me know once you get your surgery dates and where you all are from. Good luck mastrosl

I had orientation 8/30 and I just received my surgical date today for the first week of April. South SF program is really overbooked and you have to wait forever. The Richmond program goes much faster. I don't believe you need to take the lifestyle management class - if that is the weeks long class they just suggest it and taking it doesn't get you through any faster. -
Hi, Is anyone else going through the Keiser So. San Francisco program. I finally have my surgeon appoint on Jan 30th. I will be at my goal for surgical weight then. I hope I will get a surgical appointment at that time. Any one have any experiece on how long from surgeon visit to actual surgery. Laurel

Does anyone know if the kaiser system is using the new AP lapbands. Sounds like they have less complications and work better. I hope the answer is yes. Laurel

Yes I have been following my 1200 cal diet and will be at my pre-op goal weight when I see the surgeon on the 30th. They said I should probably have surgery within the next month. Now that I finally have a visit with the surgeon it is really getting exciting. I can hardly wait. I am reading the postings everywhere so I can see what to expect. Thanks for the support it really means a lot. Laurel :huh2: -

Thanks your answers are really helping me. I am glad to hear about Dr. Le. Looks like you are really making good progress according to your tag line. Does it get easier or harder as you go along. I know I will be so motivated at the begining but I worry about keeping it up for ever. Laurel :huh2: -

Thanks for answering. I just have a few pounds to go to get to my 10% which is what they asked of us. I am not sure who I am going to see since their is a Dr. Le and a Dr. Li both are pronounced the same. I saw doctor Li at our orientation and really liked him plus I liked his credentials. I am afraid I will have the other one but at this point as long as they are both safe it doesn't matter I just want to have the surgery. Who did you have for your surgeon. I have been reading some of your posting they are helping me. How long before you went back to work. I do a fair amount of walking but then alot behind a desk also. How was the hospital were the nurses good. How long did you stay in the hospital. Any tips on how to prevent band erosion that is what I am the most afraid of. Anything that you can share with me would be wonderful. Laurel:redface: -
Hey fantastic news I just got my appointment with my surgeon for January 30. I am to have Dr. Li has anyone had him as their surgeon. I am so excited. I have about 5 more pounds to go to my preop weight and with a date set I am really motivated. Does anyone know why you have to stop taking hormones before your surgery. They said if I was flexible with my surgery date it could be in just a few weeks after the 30th or possibly into March but even that is ok since I know it is really going to happen. Thanks for all of the replies Laurel

Wow are you all lucky to have gone to Richmond which is where I wanted to go. I am at Kaiser So. San Francisco and have now gone 4 1/2 months and still do not have a medical, psych, or surgeon appt. They are so backlogged. Maybe I need to start all over at Richmond. Laurel

How did you get into the Richmond program my doctor said it was closed. I had to go to South San Francisco. I went to orientation in September and I am still waiting just to get the nurtrition consult which they said would be at least two months to be scheduled. No idea when the other appointments will be made.
