question about back pain and non insurance band
lookingout posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
<hr style="color: rgb(83, 98, 69);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Okay, I know this is wierd....I don't even know where to put it my question is so far fetched.....I was banded in Mexico, and am having some recurrent back issues. I went in and was seen by a NP and they asked me "what is this scar?" I said I would rather not talk about it. Then...I get an appointment out of the blue with my GP. This is unusual because she is a professor and always hard to get a hold of. I know this does not have to do with my band, and know that I will have to self pay anything relating to my band. Has anybody been in this boat before? What have you said to your dr? I really like my doc and don't want to change, but am not exactly sure what to tell her....thanks!:help: -

Rock on Lins! I just cant run. I'm going to try again. I just don't have the focus for it. How did you start Telly? It seems like some people answer it like a higher power, my sister and dad both go through their running phases, but I've never gotten up the ability to start. I can go 45 on the elliptical, but can't do 2 minutes running...

I know, I know. Food choices....need to start writing down again what I eat...that seems to make me more accountable. So loving the avatar right now telly, I read that book in high school and LOVE that movie! -

I feel you stitchy. I just came back from the store, where I bought my mom her beloved Starbucks Ice Cream Mud Pies. I'm telling you, I'm not a fan of ice cream...but I made the mistake of eating one of these the other day...bad idea. OMG they were so good! So I told myself I wouldn't eat one, but then ate stuff adding up to 440 calories instead. Someone shoot me! -
Escudero, you are killing me! Okay, I am the biggest klutz EVER!!! (I fell off the Nordic Track and tore my calf rockin out years ago), but I am telling you at only 1 to 1.5 mph, you just pay attention, and it's so slow its almost isometric. I'm telling you its great. I'd do it all the time but my ADD gets the best of me! I'm curious to see how it works for you! Big Girl Pantiez- yes I know it sounds ridiculous, but it has given me more definition in my thighcankle legs. I used to skate all the time and have so lost that definition since I had knee surgery. Oh how I long for the days of remotely cute legs! I'm working on getting back there... Today's exercise (so far) 40 minutes elliptical Not sure what else..........yet.

Okay, I'm not a fan of the scale. I'm a fan of how I feel and how my clothes feel. And I know it's not Wednesday....but man! I'm having some serious personal issues lately! I've got a guy that I'm trying to get over, and wow haven't had something affect me like this since high school! So, I know I'm rambling (ah the consequences of caffeine) and I've been travelling a lot for work, and have had a rough time eating well (ie the 1200 calorie thing), but have been exercising, and.....I just weighed myself...and.... H:185 S:178 C:155 G:110! WOOT! I was 165 the last time I weighed myself in August, so I'm stoked! I'm only about 4 feet 10 inches, and pretty muscular, so I am so happy with 20# so far since my surgery april 26 06! What a way to start the weekend! I'm going to go work out! Have a great weekend peeps! -
Wow Surby, I read your post this am, and am feeling for you. I'm glad you are doing better. Sometimes we are the worst judges of what we can and cannot do. I'm trying to hit the gym more, and started doing ab exercises, and WOW, I think I bruised my port a few days ago. I don't have a ton of belly fat (more on those thighs, yeeech) and I swear I bruised my port. My surgeon had concerns about it sticking out. I can feel it. I tell people I have an alien in my stomach, it throws people off. No pukes for you! What a gift for the weekend! Take care, and keep on losin!

OMG you are so making me laugh because my mom loves Madden and hates Thiesman with a PASSION! She loves football more than life itself. She does not speak to us when it's on. Good times! -
ok funny I just sent you an email...but I'll tell you again. Don't leave! We need your strength and great attitude! Let's bring it back to why were here! Were here to provide support to each other! Now, I'm getting up to go get something HEALTHY to eat!

OK, ditto for me too. The drama lately is dragging me from my focus=making the band work for me! I'm joining the club for September. I've been working and traveling a lot for work, but still want to check in, and have been doing a lot of life rearranging too, but need you guys to help me be accountable for my actions. Long live us working together GFG'ers! -
Escudero, have you tried walking backward on the treadmill? I did it as part of PT after I blew out my knee, and man did it tone my legs in wierd great ways! I did it only at about a mile or mile and a half an hour, but at an incline like that its awesome! I understand the lack of motivation....I just couldn't go today. I procrastinated at work so I didn't have to go. I WILL GO TOMORROW, and make my time WORTHWHILE! I like this thread. I need to use it to make myself accountable!

Weight Loss in the 2nd year of banding
lookingout replied to Pianoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, thanks NewSho, I am always curious about others journeys and what they have to start with. You seem very experienced, and I think your posts always have really good insight. My sister and I weigh the same, but she is 11 inches taller than me, but shaped the same. I'm not petite, stout would be a better adjective. My surgeon told me my loss would be slower because I'm muscular. I don't use the scale, I use my clothes as more of a gauge. Thanks for the encouragement. I've been trying to eat better and hit the gym, and be more positive. -
Weight Loss in the 2nd year of banding

New Sho--do you mind sharing your stats? How much have you lost or how tall are you? I'm short, and man, is this getting challenging...(I know I need to update my stats) but wow...I'm feeling down and out -
mmm kay...ended it permanently with the guy....re-united with the gym today:55min elliptical Smith Squats, vertical incline? squats, 45 lunges, 45 calf raises, some stretching...I hope I can walk tomorrow....
-
Yeesh, I feel you man, it is the worst! Try to learn from this...when were you banded? I'm a fan too of the warm liquid. It seems to calm me as well. Hope your distress ends soon!

um my favorite is......"Katrina, are you trying to be anorexic? You don't need to lose weight, you are a cute thick girl". No one knows, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't associate 'thick' as a favorable adjective. Am I trying to be anorexic? Please. I don't have remotely the willpower to torture myself like that. I paid mucho dinero to electively control my intake. I swear, some people are sooooooooooooooo special.

I have done Locks of Love three times. My hair just grows and grows. I did it because I knew someone who had cancer. Locks of Love is a great organization! Telly, did they say anything more about the weight loss hair thing? You are losing....what about your fingernails, skin. Are those changing texture/consistency too? I would be curious. My hair has thinned since I've aged, but I think it has to do with being on the pill too. I'm sure that you would look kick a## with or without a bald head! It might be liberating........... -
Wow. I am so out of the loop!!! It's freaking cold here. I don't understand how it was 114 a month ago and now 70. WIERD!!! I walked and walked and ran and walked around 10, maybe more vineyards at work today. I'm not sure if my legs are still attached. Oh wait, thats DIRT everywhere. I guess they are. I'm going to try to go to the gym tomorrow. Its been too long, and I'm not losing. Need to refocus!!! WELCOME BACK TELLY!!!! WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!! I HOPE YOUR BREAK WAS GOOD FOR YOU. We missed you and your kick ass motivation. I think it makes people realize how influential others are. I hope you are well.
-
Yeah...where is telly? Where is our Ass-kicker? You are missed!!!!! I walked up and down 10 vineyards today. I'm guessing I walked at least 5 miles in the HOT HOT sun!!! I guess that is something.................

mmmmm kay only a pound. but....I have not been working out (return from time off=mucho work) and I have been having some financial "challenges" that have required a lot of working on this week., and geez its hot here......like real bad.....so I've been hitting the Gatorade....I'll be out of town doing volunteer work this weekend, so I'm getting back on the exercise wagon Monday!!! (oh, and walking around and making good choices this weekend)... H185/C161/G110 (-1 pound) -
That's right. Out cold. The room was stuffy, but I have never fainted before and never had an issue with needles. According to my friend, this is what happened: I was on the platform of the xray table standing up, and they put the anestesia in, and then the doctor put the fill needle in, my face turned pale white and I just slumped over and down. Luckily his nurse saw it coming and rushed over me to help me down. During this time my back got covered in sweat, and I was out for about 2 minutes, with the fill needle in me (the doctor took it out when I was passed out). I came to, and said "I think I'm going to pass out". I didn't realize that I already had been out! I got a .8 cc fill after that, but the doctor was gravely concerned, and did not want me having an episode like that. My friend thinks its because it was hot and I had not had much Protein that day. Has anyone had anything happen like this? Thanks soooooooooooo much!
-
Er...I haven't lost as much as I thought I would but I have had a work and home life that has gone about 90 miles an hour since I got my band. I think I'm making better choices, still working out, not as hard as I should, but I'm thinking I might need another fill. I'm not really sure. I'm going to try some more behavior improvments. But I'm still here!!! Good to hear from you guys! Eficka, you are soooo cute!!! I love your haircut, but I thought your avatar was super cute before. You guys look and sound like you're doing well...we can do this!!!
