  1. Wiping, right? This sounds like it is nothing band related. Get your self to an er or urgent care, and see someone professional!!! You sound like you have more than just your period and bad cramps. Be good to yourself, and let us know whats up. I'll be thinking of you.

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Okay....the NSV. I'll be honest with all of you. I have a sister who was bulimic and anorexic, so I'm not really a fan of the scale. I'm a fan of the clothes fit test and the endurance and fitness tests. I digress....my NSV was wearing a TANKINI for the first time this past week. My man was super wowed by it. I wish he would make better health choices. I'm hoping mine will rub off on him. Congrats to you Tricia K. I don't know about you, but I've never been close to being able to wear a 2 piece suit in any way shape or form, but I'm so glad you're rocking it!!!! Have a great time in Florida!

I Passed Out During My Fill

I have never, never been afraid of needles. I have had multiple surgeries on my leg. I think it was a combo of temperature and anxiety (probably reading too much about it!) I am glad I got it. I don't feel restriction, but I am not as afraid as when I first posted. I think its...........mostly psychological.

No kidding! Congrats Kathy, that's great! Man, I'm gone for a few days and you miss sooo much. I just came back from camping: lots of swimming, hiking and dirtbiking. I'm going to Hawaii and am so excited about going, but also nervous due to the eating thing. I know I can be good. I can! I can! I'm going out now....gotta do some last minute shopping!

    favorite protien drink

I know I am way far out of my liquid and mushy stage, but I still love unjury. I put it in my sugar free hot chocolate with milk in the morning, and I swear it holds me over until about 11:30 am. I have also mixed it in with sauces and other stuff to boost my protein intake. I haven't been feeling so well lately (a lot of pb's) and can't seem to stomach chicken (WHICH I LOVED PRE-BAND) so unjury is a godsend!

Ok, thanks Funny for the welcome + here is my info: My name is Katrina, I work in the wine industry in the Napa Valley. Its somewhat of a rough location for weight loss if you know what I mean, thankfully I'm not a huge drinker, and not so much of a huge eater anymore. I am a huge fan of activities, I played a lot of sports when I was younger, but have some joint issues surfacing at the ripe old age of 20. I'm 28 now, but I feel much older. This year, I got tired of the on again, off again diet pill thing, and have been thinking long and hard about long term, sustainable weight loss that I can healthfully live with. I got the band in Mexicali in late August. I'm back to working out regularly after I was a major player in one of my friend's weddings. I'm going to Hawaii in a couple of days with a really good friend of mine and I am really excited!!! One more thing: I'm going to update my stats later this week. My scale is way different than my doc's scale and i think mine sticks. The other day it said I was 315 and I'm pretty sure I'm not. I'm (for now) going by what he said on his scale. I need more accountability for myself with my band. I need to start using it as a tool, not a crutch. I haven't had the easiest time switching back to regular food. Sooo, that's about it! Thanks for the welcome!!! H:185 S:178 C:165 G:110

I am so Mad and HURT!

Yay for being a good, caring parent. And we wonder why kids have such complexes about the way they look. Do they take issue with the fact her head is bigger than the rest of her body? Most kids do have that at some point. Some people are so ridiculous. I still remember my mom talking about my baby fat. It haunts me to this day. Ugh!

No more Lap Bands in my future :(

Wow. Penni, I admire your strength, it takes a brave person to really look at the options carefully and decide ultimately what is best for them. I appreciate you sharing your decision making process. What I think a lot of people fail to realize is that the band is something RELATIVELY NEW. All of us could be in your position at some point. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Billy, but what is more wonderful is that you are taking it upon yourself to be educated about you and your health. This is a life changing decision and if it takes you longer than six weeks, that is okay. Most people take longer than that when they decide to marry or have kids, etc. I admire you! We stick behind you no matter what your decision! Thanks for sharing your most positive asset you have: YOUR HEART!

All of your posts give me the energy to push myself. THANKS! I would like to join the gfg club. Is that possible?
  15. OMG, I only used to watch the food network with one of my friends and i found myself glued to it when I was recovering. I'm thinking about growing my cooking experience by cooking for others. Maybe that can be my psychological satisfaction for food.

Do you stay in the zone?

Okay, I'm certainly no expert, but I played a lot of sports and have spent a lot of time in physical therapy because I've blown out my ACL twice. My physical therapist (who worked in the sports medicine facility for years at UCSF) has really driven home varying your routine, and not to get your body in a rut. I forget this a lot, and its just easier to do the same thing all the time. This is detrimental to your muscle development, and your body gets too used to it. Additionally, most fitness machines calculate statistics off by as much as TWENTY percent. This can throw you way out of your target rate. I'd love a heart monitor, I've wanted one for awhile, but they aren't really realistic right now. My rambling point is it all adds up...I tried Judo the other day and thought I would die! I realized its because I've done nothing like that before, and am not ready for that on a twice weekly basis. It did remind me that its soooooooooo important to change it up. Thats going to kick start your muscles, up your thermostat, and add even more to your caloric burn. It might not be choice for you just yet, but Karen Voight has a book on women and exercise, and she has all these great tips about how she organizes stuff so she does lunges when she gets files at her office and squats when she cooks with pots and pans. All those movements add up! I know I need to sit on mine typing less and move more. I need to retire! Too much working out to do!

    Help...please!

lins, that is really scary! Has it happened before? Reason being, I just got a fill, am having a visitor too, and am dying today. I thought the fill was okay until this am. It was horrible all day, and my friend has changed so much this past year compared to the first eight (I get cramps, never had em before, I'm super emotional, normally totally levelheaded). I hope you are okay!

MMMMMMMMMmm by the way, can I join the club this late in the month? I'm in a wedding this month, so I know I'm not going to be super good, but I need something to keep me accountable for my consumption!

    Thirtysomething women, no kids?

I'm going to be 29 in a month (I relate with older people better, probably because I feel like I'm in my 40's), and have a serious fear of commitment. After a year, I just freak out. I can't do it anymore. I've met someone the past 6 months that is almost the male version of me, and to deal with someone who has the exact same hangups as me is not good. I'm not crazy but I am eccentric, and a hard worker, and a hard player. I do want to have kids someday, and realize the band is something that you can have kids successfully someday. I worry (especially lately, as all of my friends are getting married in the next 18 months or so) that I've missed the boat. I want to go back for my masters degree, and secretly I hope I'll meet someone in the school atmosphere. I have a really hard time not finding creeps, and I'm not a bar chick, those never seem productive. Sigh!

    fainted during fill

That's right. Out cold. The room was stuffy, but I have never fainted before and never had an issue with needles. According to my friend, this is what happened: I was on the platform of the xray table standing up, and they put the anestesia in, and then the doctor put the fill needle in, my face turned pale white and I just slumped over and down. Luckily his nurse saw it coming and rushed over me to help me down. During this time my back got covered in sweat, and I was out for about 2 minutes, with the fill needle in me (the doctor took it out when I was passed out). I came to, and said "I think I'm going to pass out". I didn't realize that I already had been out! I got a .8 cc fill after that, but the doctor was gravely concerned, and did not want me having an episode like that. My friend thinks its because it was hot and I had not had much Protein that day. Has anyone had anything happen like this? I posted the aforementioned message before I read this one. This is definitely interesting! thanks for the info!

I Passed Out During My Fill

Wow. Thanks for sharing with me your experience. I do think it was a combination of both the air and anxiety. I had my fill late in the day (on liquids all day) so I'm sure that factored in too. I think I might have it in the am next time, althoughI was told that its better later in the day.

    Thirtysomething's

Hi Liz---- I too, have not told anyone. My friends would not understand. This is my one outlet for support and understanding. I have a friend, who I met when I had surgery in Mexico, and we keep in touch regularly. It's nice to have someone experiencing things at the same time as me (we had surgery the same day). People here are very supportive, I only wish I had more time to post! You are not alone. You are making a decision to make your life healthier and more enriched! Congradulations!!!
