Great!!! This is the first step. Im about 2 months post op and struggling a bit as I can eat almost anything. I think I need another fill so I scheduled on in 2 weeks. I was expecting to not be hungry as soon as I was banded but this isnt the case. The messages here indicate that many people need a couple of fills before they really feel full, then the weight loss becomes more rapid. Im looking forward to that!!! Congratuations!!!!

The first 4 days were hell !!! I was so hungry with just clear liquids. It got better with full liquids. I bought some broccoli and cheese soup and pureed it in a blender then added some UNJUY protien powder. It kept me satisfied a lot longer than the clear liquids. There are also a lot of good recipes on this site that helped me. Hang in there!!!!

Hi, I was banded on 9/24/2008 at Middlesex Hospital by Dr Aranow. Its been almost 6 weeks and Im going for my first fill on 11/7. Im hungry and I hope this fill lessens the hunger. Its been a little better since Ive come off the liquids but I didnt expect it to be so hard. Anyone else experiencing the same thing??

You need to get hold of Kaisers medical criteria for bariatric surgery. It should be on their member website. They should be following the bariatric surgery society guidelines which state BMI over 40, or 35 if you have co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, respiritory conditions etc. Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone - you give me hope! The MD told me not to expect a lot of weight loss until after the fills so I guess its true. Im making ricotta chesse with marina sauce from a recipe I found here and I hope that fills me up for a while. Ive lost 19 lbs so far and all in all it has been a lot easier than trying to diet on my own

Hi - Im going in for my banding on Wed 9/24 at Middlesex Hosp in CT. Id like to ask the post op lap banders if they are hungry. I was told that after the swelling decreases, that you will experience a lot of hunger. I really nervous about that - I dont want to go thru all this and screw it up by being hungry and eating too much. THANKS:confused:
