Hi MISS fLUMP, I'm sooo sorry u had to spend xmas day in the hotel, that sucks. When I read your post I remember that there was a girl from cornwall there the same day I had my op in a similar situation having booked a flight for the following day, she was trying to change her flight and was obviously quite upset by it all as the doc had said he wouldn't operate if she could change it. I don't know if she managed to get another flight. I hope that those who book through Bridget get the read this as it's really quite poor practice on her part to be inaccurate about something like this. The Op still costs a large amount of money even in Belgium and failing to mention this condition could leave some people really really stuck. You seem to be very well though and I'm pleased that it's all ok with you now.Have an excellent new year all.LilyKay -

DOH! I just realised that this may not mean a whole lot, four of the sites are stitches with white thread and the one farthest left (I'm guessing its the port ) is stitched with a blue thread! beyond that I'd advise you to buy some dressings, you know the sticky ones that don't need tape, this is what the nurse told me! -

Hi Gillian, the handbook advices the following about stitches ''After 10 days, you may cut off the white threads without taking them out. The subcutaneous thread will dissolve automatically. However the blue thread has to be removed after 10 days.'' So may be good to book an appointment with the nurse, thankfully my ma's a nurse so I'm getting her to do it the waits are still dreadful at ours as well! Not sure about the restriction to be honest as I've stuck to complan once a day and tiny amount of jelly or yoghurt with tons of water. I think I did too much too soon today as I'm now in bed and its only 7.30!!!!!!! Heyho, merry Xmas bandsters!!!! -

Have you tried pepperint Water for the trapped wind in your shoulder? I find it works really well and keeps Fluid levels up! -

HI Gillian and all, the work question is a quandry isn't it? I didn't have a problem telling my family and some of my friends but work is a strange one. I'm a postgrad social work student and my final placement starts on the 6th of Jan. I didn't want to mention it at the interview as its at CAFCASS and the placements there are like gold dust. So I just keep quite hopefully hey won't notice my uber strange eating habbits! I'm guessing it will be ok as my first week will be purely court work so not a lot of dashing about me thinks. What do you do Gillian and everyone else? Hopefully no one has massively strenous jobs that really require heavy lifting or the like! -

Hey guys, good luck to Tropical lagoon she's being banded today isn't she? Thanks for all your good wishes! The pain really isn't top bad, since I lft to hospital I've had 2 pain killers but that's no nausea or the like. I hurt a bit when I laugh, which is a bit had when the visitors turn up.LoL. one of my friends knew I was going into hospital but not what for, and turned up last night with a box of chocolates! Poor girl you should have seen her face when I told her. My 3yr old daughter is outraged that someone has stuck plasters all over her mummy, but she's being very good and has crash landed on my stomach once. Hope everyone is looking forward to a very merry christmas. I really looking forward to a day where I won't eat my self into a coma, may it be the first of many for all of us. best wishes LilyKay.xxx -

Hi everyone, Just to let you all know. I was banded on Friday, it's Sunday now and everything went really well. I don't remember much about the day of the op (apart from trying to rip the oxygen mask off in ICU!!!!!) But By 5 the following morning I was awake and doing a bit of study! Hospital was beautifully clean and all where really helpful. Apparently Fredrik keep coming to give my husband updates while I was under. If anyone has any questions then please feel free, I got so much good advice off this site, it'd be nice to give something back. Finally I just thought I'd add that before they will take your IV out they make you try and eat some soup and strange biscuits! I really didn't expect that. Oh and the Barium you drink for the x ray is a laxative!!!!!! -

Hi Vixon, Are you all ready for Friday????? Are you nervous, excited, terrified? I've successfully managed to avoid flapping up til now! I've been finishing up the taught part of my master degree so that has thankfully occupied me. But now it's done and I've launched into complete panic mode, Pre-op diet hasn't been that successful have lost about 3lbs gahhhh. we're arriving about 3.30 in the hotel. What time are you getting in? Hopefully we'll run into one another, I'm very short (5ft 1) overweight and dark haired. It may be easier to identify us by looking for a shortish bloke with ridiculously curly hair!! Looking forward to starting this journey with you. C u Thursday:thumbup:. Kay -

Fredrik offered to sort taxis out as part of the package for an extra 250 euros, Im not sure what to do for the best! any advice/ideas guys! -

Hi Vixon, I've got my evening appointment at 7pm on the 18th so would be a long wait for you but we could all probably cram in a cab in the morning am guessing we'll all have to be there at the same time regardless of our position on the op list! My husband is also coming with me, originally I was going to bring my mum but am guessing that my husband will be more relaxed so its all good. What pre op diet are you planning to follow? I've got a consultation with Dr. Chris on Thurs in Manchester, I just wanted to meet him and ask all or most of my questions before flying out there. Yey it's so close now. will see you at the hotel am guessing. Bye for now. Kay:thumbup:

Hi Guys, I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to book direct with Dr. Bruyne. I've been in contact with a woman named Bridget at Professional Beauty, but unfortunately she doesn't seem too keen to be helpful with giving out any information and hasn't replied to my last email. It is such a big amount of money I want to be absolutely certain that it's the right procedure to have so am thinking booking directly would offer more assurance. Any thoughts on this anyone???? Cheers Kay -
Hi everyone, am really pleased to find this site. I've been making tentative inquries and have been offered a lap band op in Belgium on the 19th December. Its not ideal just before Christmas but my college and work commitment make it impossible at any other time. I researching madly to make a final decision, I concerned that I'll cheat as I'm a big sweet/choc eater. Does anyone one else feel like this???? Does anyone know what the weight lose will be like. I've got about six stone to lose. Any advice or comments would be most welcome. Cheers guys.:rolleyes2:
