Has anyone gone to mexico for lap-band?
lisanjason replied to grni77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to Dr Kuri inTJ Mexico. I couldnt have been happier with my choice.Dr Kuri and his staff treated me perfectly and the procedure went on with no problems at all.4 months later I referred my sister to him and her experience and actual procedure went just as well.WE LOVE DR KURI!!! He knows exactly what he's doing and tells it like it is! I plan to take my teenage son to him when he's ready to be banded! My sister and I both have been lapband success stories ,both losing over 125 lbs each!! -

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
lisanjason replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in the same predicament.I've reached my goal and now have no motivation to keep on track. It's exhausting being at goal and still constantly having to be so careful of what we eat.I used all my energy to try to get to this point and have the mentality of "I could reward myself now" BUT I feel so bad when I do,like the MC D's ice cream cone,or the small bag of M&M's.I do watch what I eat still but my problem is the exercise,I have NO MOTIVATION to get out and get moving anymore.I know that I can go back to being obese,in a heartbeat cause I am still that fat person at heart so I need some kind of motivation! Like you, everyone is telling me how great I look and how I don't need to lose anymore weight.I tell them I'm trying to maintain which confuses them with trying to lose more weight! I'm now at 120 pounds, size 1 so to everyone I'm skinny enough.I myself just want to stay this size and not gain. -
I usually choose anyone of the Lean Cuisine meals that don't include any kind of pastas, breads, potatoes or anything that we shouldn't have as a banded person. To tell you the truth I had better luck finding those in the "Weight Smart" meals.Although they were very limited in choices.I think they actually only have 2,one with Pot Roast and veggies and the other was Chicken and veggies................there might be one more, some kind of Sweet and Sour Chicken with Veggies. I ate those ALOT while I was trying to lose the weight and had a huge green salad on the side every time to help me feel full.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
lisanjason replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't be discouraged.Losing is hard work and we all do it our own way and at our own pace. The band is so helpful,I couldn't do it without it.What I did was keep up on my fills. When I was banded I was told by another bandster to get my fill up to a perfect level ASAP and it would work, the way it worked for her,she also lost 100+ pounds and was at goal within 8 months. So just like she did,I got my fills monthly until about my 5th/6th fill ,throughout that time,I continued to lose weight.I also watched what I ate and walked 2+ miles every single day.I was determined to make this band work for me.I refused to feel that I wasted so much money ,money that could have been used on my family. That is what motivated me the most .Now they can't say "it wasn't worth it".I'm am now thinner than I was when I met my husband in high school ,and my family is amazed by how much I can do with them now. -

Please update me to 135 pounds lost.I lost this weight in 7 months.Bandedrn you are so right, what we choose to eat plays A VERY important role in our outcome.I guess we'll all learn that eventually.Just because we CAN eat just about anything we want,DOESN'T mean we should! If we want to get to our goal,we need to do what ever it takes to get there even if it's depriving ourselves of some good (bad for us) food for a while,or at least until we get to goal and we've learned what it took to get us here, usually by then that food we wanted is not that important any more. -
Has anyone ever had the feeling of your stomach being in your throat?I have this feeling in the mornings before I've had my coffee, once I have my coffee I no longer have this feeling UNTIL Evening time and that's only if I'm not drinking fluids.I've never had this feeling before my last recent fill.I do have a pretty tight fill,I can't eat breakfast and usually can start to nibble on soft foods at lunch time with some luck I can get a bite in but by early evening I can eat just about anything.
-
evcase, You feel really strongly about "NOT drinking" while eating,do you think this was a major reason that caused this to happen to your band? After my latest fill,I often have to drink coffee to get my food to go down, especially in the morning. Also why do you say not to take vitamins and minerals besides being a distributor for the f/v company? I'm not trying to sound rude I just want to get all the info I need to save my band.

This is the exact reason I took my credit card and went to Dr Kuri in Mexico!! I was so sick of dealing with my insurance company and having them run my life and keeping me under thier control by telling me "NO" I finally decided to take control of my own destiny and just do it on my own! Good luck ladies!!

How do you know a goal weight?
lisanjason replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Being 5 ft tall and 255 lbs,I chose 125 pounds as my goal weight, the same weight I was when I was 16 and I met my future husband !! I never really thought I could get down to that weight and figured I would be happy with any loss over 100 lbs.I was able to loose 115 lbs after banding then had my lower body lift which took off another 20 lbs.Putting me at 5 lbs under my "goal weight". I guess we will all figure out what feels and looks right, when we get there. PS You can find another Dr that will do a tummy tuck, without you being at goal for a year! I had mine done in TJ Mexico with Dr Soberanes and I had just lost 115 pounds within 7 months of being banded and couldn't lose anymore. It was all just skin at that point. -
JulieNYC's Extended Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift
lisanjason replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You're right!! It's not unrealistic at all.I feel it's all in the determination and desire to get to where you want.I was so tired of being morbidly obese.I was determined to make this band work for me.I lost 115 in 7 months. After my lower body lift I've lost 20 more lbs.A friend of mine lost 130 lbs in 6 months. It's all about changing your habits 200%.Majorly changing your diet, even though it's physically still possible to eat alot of things,we shouldn't ,IF WE WANT TO SUCCEED and we need to exercise daily no matter what.I walked 2 miles every evening, while my family ate Dinner. -
You Asked for It! Plastic Surgery Pictures
lisanjason replied to Spydr's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Spydr, I had my body lift in Mexico 4 months ago with Dr Soberanes and he suggests not to use any antibiotic ointments on the incision but to use honey instead, natural honey with the honeycomb in the jar.All of his pt's are told to use it and it works, really well.I never had any infections or adverse reactions in or around my incisions. What is weird is that I was skeptical about using this sticky, goey stuff on my bod,but I did it anyways,as the Dr ordered. Then recently I heard a news report saying that Dr's in the U.S. are now finding healing properties for wound healing and debriding with the use of Bee's honey!! I was so impressed that my "Mexico" Dr is so up to date and even maybe more advanced that alot of our Dr's out here. -
Your Dr can see the leak by flouroscopy. In my case I had a kink that was only seen by Xray.(you can read more about it in my post a few days ago) More than likely you would probably be the one who would have to pay,if you needed some kind of repair, especially since you've had it a few years already.I was going to have to pay to have mine repaired and had only had my band for 3 months, which made me very upset,I was also cash pay and had just paid $8,995 ! Then my Dr reconsidered that I only had it a short time and he paid all the charges to his anesthesiologist, ect.

I'm on the before and after forum and also now on the lower body lift page, updated as of today.I think it's posted under Teresita but she typed in "LISANJASON pics"

I thought I had a leak too.Everytime I got a fill of a certain amount, the next month I would go back for another fill and the Dr withdrew less than he had put in 4 weeks before.I also didn't feel restriction with the first 3 fills.Dr Kuri did flouros monthly and never found a leak,Finally under xray ,he found I had a kink and twist in my line. The saline was actually never getting to the band but staying in the tubing,so everytime he tryed to withdrawal the saline, the kink was tightening causing a sort of vaccuum and he wasn't able to pull out the original amount of saline.Anyways I had to go back into surgery and have the kink/twist removed and the port repositioned.Everything has been working fine ever since.
-
For some reason,it doesn't work that way for me.Teresita told me she had to switch the format and all kinds of other things to get them on here.Everytime I try I get a "failed" notice.I'm actually on the last page of the "before and after",she just posted them this morning, can you bring them over to this forum....................PLEASE!! LOL!!Thanks!
