Can't you start getting fills now again? Of course you are going to gain weight back if you have no restriction. -
Have you had your band more than 6 months?
jms462001 replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had mine for 11 months. I never get really hungry. I eat small amts and get full and stay full for several hrs. My protein shake and skinny latte get me through well into afternoon. I rarely crave any food and rarely think about it. It just isn't an issue for me any longer and I love it! -
Does everything make you gassy?
jms462001 replied to katanddogz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's pretty much been an ongoing problem for me! -
You'll do fine and soon have a routine of what you can eat and like to eatl Hell when I go to 'costco I get the frozen yogurt for my dinner!! It's about the healthiest thing there and does have some nutrtion and it's a great occasional treat and tastes great. Plus it goes down so smoothly!!

Try a big gulp of water and bend down to you feet over a paii. Give a gentle thrust up your rib cage and it should come up wth the water. It may take a few small gulps repeated if you have a lot stuckll -
1 month post op and stuck at 20lbs
jms462001 replied to dratdee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body needs time to heal from a major surgery and to catch up with a quick 20 pound loss. Relax. In 6 months you will be 60 pound thinner and close to a hundred in a yr if that's your goal! It comes off easy once you get started with fills and get in a losing routine and it;s exciting especially if you love to shop!! -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a funny one! I saw a distant relative this weekend who I do not care much for (it's mutual) and I had not seen in a long time. She was at my house and commented on my daughter's weight loss, but didn't say a word about mine at that time. She was in and out of my house with another visitor and about an hour later she came into the house, walked over to me and said "how did you lose so much weight anyway?" I just said "lapband" She thought I said "lap dance". It was hilarious!! She was speechless for a minute, just staring at me. Finally I said "what?" And she said loudly "lap dancing?". I was cracking up. She knew nothing about the lap band anyway and I didn't explain it to her. I don't think she ever did get lap dance out of her head and I will probably now have a new wild reputation with some of the distant relatives I rarely associate with!! -

Good for you!!!!! Can't wait to see the pic!! You'll be back on track in no time. I went three weeks with no restriction after my surgery and was having quite an appetite and eating much faster and bigger bites that last week. I had lost 3 pounds after the surgery and gained 3 that last week. I was very happy to find restriction again. It took a second trip back to the Dr's to get there. Now I'm losing about a pound a week again. -
Keep in mind that you may be too tight too eat any meat or eggs immediately following a fill, but if you continue to have that problem after a few weeks you should get a slight unfill. We should be able to eat most foods without a problem even though some of us never can eat foods like chicken, pasta, or bread. Keeping a band too tight leads to problems with the band and eventual removal. It also slows and stops weight loss in the long run.

jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry and I haven't, but at my meetings we are told to go get a slight unfill right away if we start having any heartburn or reflux. I hope they can resolve the problem for you. My daughter was having it really bad the past yr and is not banded, but just found out she has an ulcer and a lot of erosion in her stomach from H-Pyori bacteria. -

Be careful with the candy/chocolate smoking substitute. I quit smoking 12 yrs ago for good, but went that route the first time and gained a ton of weight fast!! I had to use nicorette gum the second time and that worked very well for me. In fact I still chew it some 12 yrs later! -
would you do this? long, sorry...
jms462001 replied to BQT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely do it. I wish I had been able to do it years ago when I was struggling to stay 50 pounds lighter and not had to wait until my body was plagued with osteoarthritis. I fought it all my life and it's a losing battle. You know you will go back to 200 so do it now and get it all off and keep it off and keep your body healthy! -
I can't imagine spending the 17K I spent and only losing 50% of my excess weight. I do know that if I try to eat too soon after a meal, no matter how small it is, I feel the tightness and will often get sick or get stuck easily. I have to wait the full 3 or 4 hrs between eating. Grazing just does not work well for me physically so that may also be part of your problem with the reflux as well. I hope you can work it out. I'm sure you must be very discouraged at this point and it sounds like you have horrible medical support.

Pain in lower left abdomen! Very Nervous!!
jms462001 replied to isaviolinist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get pains on both sides from constipation along with bloated feeling, gas and all that yucky stuff. It has been ongoing for me and I wonder if it ever goes away. -
That must have been really miserable to be stuck that long. I find if I take small swallows of water and bend over as far as possible, I can bring up whatever is stuck with the water. If real bad, I may have to repeat it a few times to get it all up. I could not imagine being stuck that long.

The difference is that this time if you diet and exercise you will lose the weight much faster with no slide backs and most importantly........ after all your efforts YOU WON'T GAIN IT BACK!!!!!!!Yeah!! Also, you will not be starving while you do it! -

If you measure out 1/2 cup of chopped up chicken, you fill find it is quite a good sized amt. My nut says veggies don't count in the measurement as they are mostly Water. How many cals we each can eat and lose weight varies depending on how efficient our bodies are and how much we exercise. It could be 800 for one and 1800 for someone else. It is important to choose carefully what we eat during the weight loss phase and "diet", follow whatever works for you, but don't just eat anything you want. Make good choices for a good weight loss because the first year or two are supposed to be critical for good weight loss with the lapband. It determines how successful we are going to be. Until you reach proper restriction, you will not readily lose weight, but once you get filled to the right point, you will lose very quickly if you stay away from slider foods. -

Have you tried wonder slim creamy hot chocolate? It has 70 cals. and 12 grams of protein. It's not too bad. -

I was banded 11/24 so you know what came up in December.......Christmas parties and very little restriction. I ate the brownies and cookies as it got closer to Christmas, but I didn't eat near as much as I would have. The cake is probably gone now. Just get back on track with healthy food and don't worry about losing weight until you start having fills. A year from now, that cake will be forgotten and you probably will not be having urges to eat it any longer (it's a food I can't eat!) -
Im trying to find a shake I can stomach. Need Opinions.

Wow. Mine is also 8.5 fl oz, 20 gr protein, 160 cals, 9 gr carbs and it is muscle milk lite. This I purchased at Costco, but it's the same as I have purchased at a couple other places. I have had the chocolate mint that was 100 cals, but never saw the chocolate at 100. And, it is also in the cardboard box with the straw!
