How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always heard they hold more than 10cc's , but that's insane!!!! Good luck to you!! I don't know that I will lose any the remainder of this yr. I am hoping just to maintain now that all the goodies are everywhere I look! -
You need to go get a bit of fluid removed. As soon as possible if you cannot get water down!!

So... got some work to do.

That's wonderful! Sounds like fun and you lost weight at the same time. You are doing so well. -
Lost too much weight, no fill...
jms462001 replied to Hutch444's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes just a couple tenths can make a big difference. I was not tight enough at 5 cc and way too tight at 6. I'm now at 5.6 and I think 5.4 would be about perfect. I plan to go back after the holidays and hope to maintain at 5 cc. -
Lost too much weight, no fill...
jms462001 replied to Hutch444's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is totally ridiculous. I lost all my weight without getting anywhere close to the max and I think that is true of the majority of people. Fills are supposed to be based on whether or not you are feeling hungry!! I would be concerned and upset too. And I would not be quiet about it! -
Veteran Bandsters - Hungry vs. Full
jms462001 replied to timetobefree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I normally get "full" quickly and stay satisfied for long periods. And I do not still feel hungry. In fact, I rarely feel hungry. When I do it's because I have not eaten anything for a very long time. So don't worry about always being hungry. You will make it through this healing period and once you start having fills things will change! Good luck to you! -
Vinegar for a STUCK solution?
jms462001 replied to Electrawoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A little pineapple juice would probably work better. I have never tried it. I drink a small amt of water and usually whatever is stuck comes back up with the water (bent over the sink or toilet of course). -
Hurts to eat, please help :-)

Sounds like gas pain. Eat very slowly and if the pain continues or gets worse let your Dr. know. -
Three (3) Months Out: No Weight Loss !
jms462001 replied to Sven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not everyone has lots of problems and of course you will see people on here with lots of problems because the board is for help and support. Also, many of the successful people leave the board and go on with their lives. I frequent the board much less than I did in the past. I just had my 1 yr anniversary on Tuesday and I must say I was surprised how fast this past year went and how well it went. I had relatively few problems along the way and did find this board extremely helpful when I had questions and for encouragement. My weight loss was steady, not earth shaking, but added up to exactly 80 pounds on my anniversary date which far exceeded my expectations. I am thrilled with my band and with my new healthier body. Go ahead positively and plan to succeed. If you have a good Dr. and you are ready to do this, you will do fine! Best of luck to you with your surgery! -

You exercise way to much to survive on 800 cals!!! Now me, I am lucky to get in all my isometrics!! I have probably been eating your needed 1500 this week and I don't dare get on the scale! You see you are losing inches and I bet you are gaining some fine firm muscle. Good for you! -
will be banded november 24th
jms462001 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Nov 24th last yr!! How time flies! Best of luck to you. You won't regret it and will be nice and thin next yr. I didn't care much for any of the protein drinks, but found the muscle milk powder most palatable for me. I used the chocolate and often added peanut butter which made it taste much better!! I drink the ready made muscle milk lite now. If you can find free samples of any kinds on line, take advantage of it because everyone's taste is different and I know I wasted lots of money on kinds I hated. Definitely buy small amts until you have tried different recommended brands. Read the nutritional labels. Costco was carrying a great tasting protein shot, fruit flavored. I didn't see it today, but hope they keep having it. -

Don't worry about weight loss now. Just stick to the list of foods/shakes you were told you can have and consume enough to keep you satisfied.......don't let yourself get too hungry. You are healing now and may lose some weight, but that will come later. You will be very hungry, but just know it does get easier! -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On days that I eat normally without supplementing with bad stuff like I did Halloween week (I was real bad), I eat the following: AM A skinny vanilla latte grande - 130 cals choc muscle milk lite RTD - 160 cals often no lunch Dinner 1/2 cup barb black beans - 150 cals 1 cup cooked buttered spinach - 90 cals Evening tri-o-plex protein puffs 18 grams protein - 198 cals This is less than 800 cals. I often will have a dinner with more cals. such as fish with sauce or beef stew and sometimes my evening snack is a tri-o-plex brownie if I am craving chocolate. It has 350 cals and 20 grams of protein. I don't eat them too often. I also add a couple TBS of peanut butter at night if I am hungry and low on calories. -

Bands are supposed to hold more than the cc amt they are. So a 10 cc band should be able to take a couple more cc's. I'm not sure why. Maybe because of the port? Someone out there probably knows!! -

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was stuck and went on a candy, brownie frenzy for a few days Halloween week. I went up 2 pounds which came off right away and 2 more came off right away when I went back on my regular eating plan. I have heard before that a day of sugar often shakes the system into losing again and I guess it works. In my case it was more than a day but it worked! -

I buy snack foods high in protein at diet direct on the internet. It takes care of night time cravings and gets in the extra protein I need. I find many of them very good! -
Struggling with my protein, Please help me my wise friends!
jms462001 replied to Grandma26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
liquid goes right through the band thus we get hungry faster and might end up eating more. However, many bandsters cannot eat solid food well early in the day after getting fills. I cannot eat solid food until about 2 in the afternoon. I always have a RTD muscle milk lite and a skinny latte with Protein powder added every morning. -

Too many CC's? Help!
jms462001 replied to RebeccaJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to go get a slight unfill as soon as possible. -
I was banded the day before Thanksgiving last year so that was not a problem, but I had to go through the Christmas/New Year holiday period and that was a bit challenging. My first fill was in January. I managed to eat a few Christmas cookies and still lost a couple pounds every week. You will do just fine!

Okay people, what's with losing a shoe size?
jms462001 replied to tanqueray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went from a 9 W to an 8 1/2 M so I guess they can shrink!! Just don't buy any expensive designer shoes yet! -
That sounds ridiculous because we got the band to rely on it!! We realize it does not do it for us, but it needs to be set to do the job it's designed to do! Crazy Dr.

Why do you only have 4.5cc's if you feel you have no restriction? At 7 months out people are often much higher than that. I was at 5 cc's at my 2nd fill 2 months out and stayed there through most of my weight loss. Everyone is different and most people do seem to need more than 4.5 to find their "sweet" spot.

You will get used to the band as a way of life and before you know it you will be able to eat most anything just a lot less than you did in the past.
