I want to give up
jms462001 replied to BTTRFLI1432's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may just need more fills even though you say you don't eat much. Also, I really think the high protein, low carb way works best. Oatmeal is very healthy and I eat it sometimes, but eggs or eggbeaters in the morning work best for weight loss in us resistant people I have found. Or, if you don't like eggs, meat or some other protein for BK. If you must have pizza, try just eating the toppings. If you can actually eat regular crust pizza easily, I would say you probably really do need a fill. And, of course there is that evil word exercise that helps get past a long plateau if we step it up. Don't give up. You have lost over 40 pounds and maintained it. Without the band you surely would have gained it back and possibly more by now. And, that 40+ pounds has brought health rewards. Keep those Dr apps. You are not the first person he has seen without major success. He is there to help you!! Get another fill and you just might be surprised at how well you start losing again!! Good luck. -
Why are you vomiting all the time? You are not supposed to vomit with the lapband. Have you told your Dr?

erosion is actually quite rare!

I have the whey bullets and do not like them either. I also have several cans of protein powder I can't stomach. I do, however, like muscle milk lite. I was very excited to find they now have RTD chocolate mint at 100 cals 20gr protein and 0 sugar grams. Best of all, it tastes good!!!!!!!

Full liquids and protein?

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jms462001 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seem to have plateaued. It has been near 3 weeks since my fill. I think I lost 4 pounds in the first 5 days and then a pound in the week following, but then nothing since. I reached a weight I was at for about 5 years when I ate low carb and I think it will be difficult to get past it. I am going to really try hard though!! I am getting hungrier and can eat more, but don't think I eat all that much total in a day. I really can't afford another fill yet! I have an appointment for late Feb. -
How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?

I can eat anything, but try not to!! -
I took a new herbal capsule first thing this morning (instructions said on empty stomach) and it has been stuck for almost 4 hours! I have never had food stuck and have not had a problem with taking my few meds up to this point (sometimes I feel them for a short while, but they go down ok). This is terrible. It doesn't really hurt, but feels horrible there. I can swallow fluids ok and tried hot liquids thinking it would dissolve, but that didn't help. I had a full glass of water right after taking the capsule. I have not dared take my regular meds or try to eat food with it stuck. I have tried some of the "stuck food" remedies I read on here to no avail (head down, pound chest, coughing it up, finger down throat just a little). Does anyone have any more ideas? I would think it would just dissolve since the capsule is veg. based. Should I try to take regular meds? Thanks in advance!!

What that fuel is does play a huge part in weight loss. And yes, exercise makes a big difference too!! -
Will I really feel it?
jms462001 replied to Annie0341's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never really felt like I was in Bandster Hell before my first fill. I'm not sure how much fill I had when banded, but must have had some. I got 3.5 cc on Jan 6 and could not eat hardly anything the first week. Now, I get hungry but a small amt does satisfy me for several hours. So, hopefully if your Dr. is good at giving fills, you should have the same result. I see so many saying they have no restriction with the first fill, but I don't think that is the way it's supposed to be!! Good luck!! -

LOL on the novel Annie. Sorry, Banded, can't share the winnings, but now you know what to do next time you decide to partake in some baby carrots!!! No, I never did call the Dr. since it was gone when I woke. I will ask him next time, but he assured me it would never happen!!!!!! -

Flying (those who did not fly for surgery)

Why did your Dr take out the saline? My Dr said flying should not be a problem. I will be flying 18 hrs total -

High protein will actually help us burn more fat and cause faster weight loss if we keep the carbs low enough and stay away from all the refined carbs -

jms462001 replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's correct because protein is the only type of food the body is unable to store. After just one day without sufficient protein, the body starts gong after the lean muscle to meet it's needs. -

Perhaps you misunderstood the nut about the protein slowing weight loss. If not, perhaps he should go back to school! -
Help! Stuck capsule!!
jms462001 replied to jms462001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I guess I tried everything but the solid food!!! Read that one too late!! Anyway, I could not sleep last night. After the diet coke I had gas build up in my stomach and side much worse than post surgery. This, along with the capsule still stuck!! I had not been to the local casino in months so I decided to go there to take my mind off it. And, I won $1200!! I couldn't stay and chance losing any of my winnings as the stomach pain was quite severe so I went home and finally went to sleep around 6 AM with the capsule still stuck and actually feeling like it swelled bigger (perhaps it was getting ready to open finally). I slept till noon and when I woke........relief finally!! I felt like I had a lot of phlegm and have all day. I also continued to have gas pain when sitting. I drank that diet coke way too fast. I see why we are not to have it! I really felt my regular meds going down and I have stuck to liquids and soft food today as there could be swelling I guess. I hope to never go through that again and sure do appreciate everyone who tried to help. I'm still impressed with our resident scientist, who without, I still would be puzzled as to why that capsule stuck and would not go down, when it is the same size as another I take. In the future if I want to take a new capsule, I am first going to put it in a cup of hot tea to see how long it takes to dissolve (I'm serious)! Thanks again. All the suggestions given in this thread will probably help some who have stuck food issues. -

jms462001 replied to jms462001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The diet coke did NOT work. It actually made it feel like it was bigger in there for a short time and swelling up while I was drinking it and after. It's still there. I don't have any tenderizer or that would be next. Looks like I might go to bed with it tonight if I can sleep. If it's still there tomorrow, I will try to reach the Dr. I suppose. I have a feeling he won't be much more help than you guys have been or I should say won't be as much help. You guys are great! -

jms462001 replied to jms462001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was a new kind of herbal capsule that I am not required to take and certainly NEVER will take again. I have no prolems with any other meds. I do chew Vitamins. You will see if you read further why this horrible thing does not go down and Oh you guys should have seen the thick dirt looking stuff that came out of it finally in the hot liquid (only the choc!). It seemed to expand and looked like dirt which it probably was, some of it since part of the ingred are roots. I thought about meat tenderizer, but just read the other day that it might not be a great idea because our throat, esophogus and stomach are.........basically meat!!!! Still waiting for that diet coke, sigh! -

Congratulations to you for reaching goal!! That's very inspiring on a day like today. I just called my daughter to bring me a diet coke just in case. She said "you can't have that" I said "just get it. in this case, I can"!! You are right.......it's extremely annoying and feels terrible. I don't want to vomit if I can avoid it. It seems it has to dissolve eventually and go down. Thanks for everyone's help
