  1. I was also one of the lucky ones who had some restriction right up until my first fill 6 weeks after surgery. I never experienced the "bandster hell". It must be tough.
  2. I never had a problem until after my second fill, but the prior advice is correct.......small bites and chew, chew, chew. Also, you will learn fast what foods you personally need to avoid. Good luck with your second fill!!
  3. I actually only lost 4 pounds this last month as well. But, I don't think I want another fill because I don't eat that much and can get stuck easily if I'm not careful. I don't want any further problems eating. I still get satisfied on a small amt of food usually. There seem to be some days when I am super hungry. I had no problems eating on the airplane, I ate quite a bit, but was careful. I was fortunate to be upgraded to Business class for the 12 hour flight and was given lots of food. Of course I did not eat that much of it, but had no problems. I did seem to be slightly more restricted the day following flying. I ate fish often while there and did fine with it except the last time when it got stuck and I was a long time bringing it al up.....not fun!! I also got stuck on the crust of a meat pie. I had been eating the filling of them frequently and decided to try a couple bites of the crust.......big mistake!! Other than that, the band was not a problem and my emergency needle stayed put in my suitcase thank God!! I know you other two getting ready for vacation are excited!! I would just say not to get a fill just prior to leaving!
  4. I'm back from vacation and was pleasantly surprised to have lost 3 pounds!! ONE pound to ONEDERLAND!!!!!!! Yeah!! I did have two bad stuck incidents while away, but survived! Congrats to all the other's successes!!
  5. So, may I assume there is no end to this passing gas stuff if you are at goal and still having the problem??

    Medications

Are we not supposed to take any kind of extended release meds?
  7. I guess I should have known that! You sure have had a rough time. You should soon be doing better........you deserve it after all you've been through. You don't have so much to lose so once your body adjusts to the band, you should sail along. You've had a good loss for not being so heavy to start with. I hope you stop getting sick with it very soon.
  8. Ah, well you are right, no gain is good. And, it is so difficult to eat right with people around and lots of activities going on. You travel lots!! I am heading for the airport in about 4 hours. No sleep tonight!! I weighed today and I'm the same, but maintaining the new 2 pound loss so I hope to keep it off these 2 weeks away!! Have a great weekend and get your exercise in!!! I wish I could walk more. My need for spinal surgery makes that impossible right now!! Good luck to everyone while I'm away and lots of successes to all!!!
  9. I actually don't have gout (don't think so anyway!!) I have severe spinal disease and bad arthritis in the knees and back and sometimes get inflammation really bad especially if it gets really damp. This is why I take the nsaids. I do find that diet effects it and when I stay on a healthy diet, especially a cleansing diet, I see a huge difference. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am going on a trip for two weeks so I will be bold and say that I never believed it was a true disease. I know there will be loads of response to that statement. I do know that many people have true pain and suffer for one reason or another. I hope you get your meds worked out. I forgot to discuss it with my surgeon as well when I went for my two fills. Good luck to you!!
  10. I worry too as I have to take 800 mg of ibuprofen quite often when the inflammation flares up too much. I would like to see more information about what we could do to prevent problems. I always try to be sure that I take it around a meal. I use the patch sometimes, but I guess that can effect the stomach as well and it really does not seem to help me much.
  11. I had migraines from the age of 12 till menopause as my mother did. I soooo looked forward to it!!!!!! I still get them occasionally, but seldom rather than most of the time. I sympathize with anyone who does get headaches frequently.

  13. Congrats on breaking the plateau!! I know you're happy! But it seems like you throw up often. Is it possible your band is still too tight?

    Keeping it a secret?

And so the name............"I walk the line"!! Very appropriate. I told lots of people too. I just say "Yes, I'm losing, slowly, but surely like I'm supposed to be doing. I still have to work at it. It doesn't just fall off." Best wishes!! Don't feel pressured. You will do great anyway and everyone will be saying "wow" in a short time!
  15. Thanks! I leave 5am Mt time for Africa so you better weigh in early because I'm checking before I leave LOL!! I swear I do better when I stay off the scale. It's sooooo slow when I get on all the time and it never moves. When I weigh just once a week, any loss, even a half a pound seems ok!! I will check n when I get back and compare notes with you. I hope I maintain while on vacation as I will be even more sedentary on this vacation. I'm with you on the pizza, pasta and Italy cuisine! I'd go nuts. Like in New Orleans, I just had to have the Beneits (sp), bread pudding (yes bread, goes down easy in that yummy sauce!), and alligator bites!! I'm glad I don't like much of the African cuisine.
  16. I spoke too soon!! I was down 2 pounds today. I had been staying off the scales for the past 5 days. Now I have 4 more pounds to reach that magic number too!! Maybe you will drop too if you stay off the scale a few days!!
  17. How long do you have to stay in the hospital? How much are you having done? You will be so happy in a couple months!!!
  18. I confess to never working out either. I occasionally get on the exercise bike. I try to do my physical therapy exercises a few times a week, but they are not a work out. Exercise causes me too much pain, but I'm hoping that improves as time goes on as I really know I need it.
  19. Your trips to Germany and Italy sound more exciting, but I'd definitely gain some weight there!! I am checking your ticker out and you've lost a couple more pounds than me, got banded about the same time and weigh 2 pounds less!!! Are you still losing steadily or are you at a plateau like me right now?
  20. It doesn't happen to most people. Most have no problems flying. Those who do just have to take it easy for a couple days as mentioned. There are only a very small percentage of people who may have enough of a problem to require an unfill. I assume it is caused by the changes in altitude. My Dr. says flying should cause no problems. Ask yours and see what yours says.
  21. I went nuts with sweets while in New Orleans for my son's wedding. I've been stuck at the same weight (up a pound actually) for several weeks. I could probably use another fill, but my trip to Africa is April 4th and I need to wait until after that. I know I won't eat too much there!! I'll probably schedule a fill for early May.
  22. I was wondering why it is always necessary to be totally unfilled before surgery. Congratulations on your great success!! And, good luck with your lift. I hope you report on how that goes. I'm scared of the pain!!
  23. PhaZyme works better and faster than gas x for most people.

    Phentermine

I took it for 6 months and maybe lost 4 pounds!!! I only kept taking it because it gave me a bit of energy due to the amphetemine effect. Even if it works for you for appetite control, if you take it all the time, your body adjusts and it quits working after a couple months. Good luck with it anyway!!
