Thanks for the honesty! Did you have lots of cutting (skin) done with the reduction or was it more like lipo??
-
I had a breast lift 8 yrs ago during which a lot of skin was removed. I still have not forgotten the pain and did not even go back for the free revision he was going to do that he assured me would be a piece of cake after what I'd already had done!!!!!! I would really like to have the TT and underarms done, but I'm not sure if I will get up the courage. Did you have lots more done? What do you think caused the most discomfort?? I hope you feel good soon and you will look great really soon!!

Is Celebrex safe to take after lap band?
jms462001 replied to judiostudio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is the new flector patch for inflammation which is supposed to work better than Ibuprofen or celebrex. I have it, but unfortunately Ibuprofen works best for me. I am allowed to take it, but only do when I feel I must. My knees also have severe arthritis and I was in severe pain with lots of swelling also. The swelling is all gone and I only occasionally have pain in them now. I need spinal surgery and still have considerable back pain and cannot be on my feet for long periods, but I have improved greatly from a year ago when I never wanted to even get out of bed because of the pain!! Anyway, people needing something for inflammation might want to check out the Flector patch . Ask your Dr! -

Band Filled to its Capacity
jms462001 replied to Heather520's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I have read, they all hold more cc's than the size they are so you probably have nothing to worry about! The allergen lapband now comes in 2 sizes, 10 or 14, small or large. My Dr. said he determines what size to use by the size of the person usually. -
So, was your slippage caused by vomiting too much or was your vomiting a result of the slippage? Glad you are OK now!!
-
It's true. If one has a stuck incident that is not a simple one which comes right back up, but rather one that takes considerable time and involves something similar to vomiting, there is a lot of irritation. In those cases liquids are necessary for a period of time which each individual can probably determine themselves. For me, it's at least 24 hours and then soft foods for a couple days, similar to what I had to do after my 2 fills. One person on this board, who I think is an experienced member, said she takes Ibuprofen for the inflammation which I believe was ordered by her Dr. Everyone ask your own Dr. of course!!! My own does not restrict it as long as I take it with food or milk (I do not take it after a stuck incident for that reason!)

Any Advice on Getting "Unstuck" Quickly?
jms462001 replied to Holabbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you drink a little water, bend over the sink or toilet and give gentle pushes under your diaphragm, the water comes right up, and for me, everything stuck then comes right behind it. -
Help i swallowed a hard piece of candy
jms462001 replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope her candy has gone through by now, all was good advise! On a similar subject, the no drinking water when stuck. I know this is how it is supposed to be. But for me, when I am stuck bad, really uncomfortable or in pain, a small amount of water is the only way I can get it up. The water will not go down, but if I give my diaphragm just a little push as the water is coming back up, everything stuck comes right behind it. Gross subject, I know, But this is what works for me and thankfully I don't have to use it often, but I did last night hence my response to the water issue! -
Damn, way to go!!!!!!!! I ordered a pair of size 13 Junior jeans and had to return them this wk for a size 11. I have never worn smaller than a size 14. I know how you feel. Isn't it Wonderful????

Optifast, medifast, other protein shakes...so many!
jms462001 replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should work for them! I just had to order a 12 pack to try!! Hope I like it. I have about 12 open cans of various Protein powder brands. If anyone would like to try them, email me, I will tell you what kinds I have, and I will send them for just the cost of postage. I wasted so much money! I would love to see someone get use of them. None are over 3-4 months old. -

Can You Eat the Day of a Fill???

No restrictions before a fill for me, only after. -
Is this Stuck??? Or just eating to fast???
jms462001 replied to AudsMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's stuck and either it will go down or come back up, and it can be quite painful in the meantime! It usually happens if you take too large of a bite or do not chew really well or eat a bit too much. It is more apt to happen soon after a fill as you are more restricted and may need to stick to softer foods for awhile longer! -

Question for thought on success rates
jms462001 replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I said being self pay had probably helped me a lot, but as one other poster said, she never succeeded with other costly programs nor did I. I mainly do well because my hunger and cravings are under control and when I am hungry, I get full quickly. Also, I have been conditioned to know that certain foods will cause me great pain thus I would not think of eating them!!!!!! Thankfully, I got over the junk food eating years ago and was quite a healthy eater most of the time. I just ate way too much for the cals. I burned. I believe the main component of success on the program is to get past the psychological aspects of overeating. If a person has serious problems causing emotional overeating, they definitely should get treatment for that first or probably will fail. Most places do not do an adequate psych exam from what I have read. -
Anyone ever purchased foods from Bariatric choice

The Chef Jay protein puffs and the cinnamon crisp protein bars are great, but if you google them you can usually find better prices. -

when did you lose clothes sizes not just lbs.?
jms462001 replied to pappyny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jean sizes moved fastest for me and I wasted money. I started at a tight 18 and just this week got to a size 11. I started at a 3X top and now wear an XL and still some 1X. I have problems with tops due to a breast lift 7 yrs ago and a Dr who got carried away with the necessary implants!! Good news is I did go down 1 bra size and shopped with excitement for those over the weekend after being measured!!! -

It is really nice. what color will you be wearing? I thought you said before that you were a size 18 now. If you are a 16 now, you certainly want to get a smaller size. -
