    Need some advise

We must concentrate on protein because we are eating so much less than we were before thus it is more difficult to get all the protein our body needs. Protein is the only nutrient the body is unable to store. It is depleted every 24 hours. Without it, we do lose our hair, our muscles start wasting away, etc. This is why we need to eat protein first.
  2. I was sure it would happen as so many said it was inevitable no matter what we did, but I am 7 months out and so far have not noticed anything significant. I would definitely notice because my hair is fine and thin. I try to get in the required protein daily, use the sublingual B12 with b-6, folic acid & Biotin and I use the Biotin shampoo, conditioner and gel. I don't know if these things helped or if I was just lucky so far.

    post op day 3

Both erosion and slippage are very rare. Don't worry yourself about it!! Slippage can happen from frequent vomiting (like daily for a long period of time) or from chronic overeating. I don't think it's really known exactly what causes erosion. If you really want to learn about problems that can occur, there is a forum about lapband complications where people post about problems they have.
  4. Sorry you are having problems so early on. Hopefully they will pass quickly and you will be on your way to great weight loss. But as others have said, you should call about the fever as it indicates an infection. Many Drs put about 1 cc or so of Fluid in the band when they place it to give one a head start and make it easier to get through that first 6 weeks. I think mine put in .5 cc's. It should not have caused you those problems a couple weeks after. be sure to call about the fever and let us know how you are doing!! Best wishes to you!

    Does it get better?

Chicken is one food you have to cut up very tiny and chew chew chew!! You then will be ok! And, try not to let yourself get so hungry and it will be easier. I did that early on, but only once or twice. You learn very quickly as I'm sure you now know!! Not fun!

    6cc and NO restriction?!?!?

I read here that some people just need a few tenths of a cc to make a big difference when they get up to 6 + cc's. Everyone is different. I'm sure I would not even be able to swallow spit with 6 cc's!! Strange how it isn't consistent isn't it?? Any theories why that is anyone??

Some things I need to know

It's normal not to go to the bathroom for awhile. Some people are opposite and have the runs!! Pain pills slow things down too and make stool softeners necessary. I take them ongoing so have ongoing constipation problems. I take colon cleansers sometimes and also use senokot-s from time to time to get things moving!! Hope this helps!! Being tired goes along with having surgery!! Get lots of rest and lots of protein!

    Lets add it up!

    924 + 60 for me = 1524!!!!!!!
  9. Please update weight to 188. Thanks
  10. By the time I was at two weeks, I was allowed to eat egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, along with all the other foods thus far, until satisfied. Those foods along with the protein shakes should fill you up. Don't stuff yourself, just eat until you are no longer hungry and be sure to chew the salads really well too. All the protein should fill you up. I did not care for the shakes. I used to add peanut butter to the chocolate shakes in the blender and that was filling and yummy. You can do this!!!
  11. I have been fortunate because I have slowly but consistently lost 1-2 pounds a week since surgery. I have only had 2 fills, I am unable to do much exercise at all (can't even do the walking!), I focus on the Protein, but do not measure anything and eat when I'm hungry and stop when satisfied. I make sure I get my skinny latte every day, but probably do not take enough of my Calcium supp. I suppose I have been one of the lucky ones, but I love the band and most of all I love that I haven't had to relose even 1 of the pounds I lost!! Good luck to everyone, especially everyone just starting the journey and don't be discouraged because it does come off and will stay off!!
  12. You won't gain it back doing low carb. That's the beauty of the band! It controls how much we eat so we don't gain back what we lose!!

    Tired of it!!

Don't worry! It will stop in a few months. Instead you'll be hearing comments about how you really should not be losing weight so fast because it certainly can't be healthy and remarks like that! You just can't win. Don't worry about it. People will always try to sabotage our efforts one way or another. Most are just jealous in the long run!!
  14. You also might want to consider the long term costs of obesity in terms of health costs because you definitely will save money on prescriptions, Dr. co-pays and other medical procedures in the future. And, we can't put a price on feeling good!!!
  15. I think you know you are too tight. I would insist on a slight unfill immediately!! You shouldn't be suffering like that and by now you know how to eat after you've come this far.
  16. Interesting! I wonder how many people she has banded. Let us know how that goes for you!

    Average Fill Level

But how does one know they want to be a certain number of cc's until they have been there and experienced it? I figure if I am able to lose up to 2 pounds a wk consistently, eat healthy foods easily enough without PBing, and not having any of the many problems I read about on this board associated with restriction, I'm happy.
  18. jms462001

    Average Fill Level

I have had 2 fills and think I'm at around 4.5cc in a 10 band and I do not want more restriction!

    Could I Need Counseling

    Excellent post!!
  20. It's only been a little over a month since you were banded. I'm even surprised you had your first fill before you even would have had a chance to fully heal. Give yourself a break! Slow down and just keep following the high protein and doing your exercise. Protein and vegetables and then add some healthy other complex carbs if you must. Drink the protein shakes......thick ones.
  21. I think getting a fill is a perfect time for getting back on track because you have to go on liquids for at least 24 hours. You will probably be quite restricted (hopefully) the days following so why don't you try to stay on protein shakes for several days and see if that jump starts your weight loss and gets you going again. Just an idea!!
  22. Oh, and congrats on reaching your sweet spot, your big fast sudden wt loss, and most of all your successful graduation!!!!!!!!!
  23. Ahhhhh, I really do need a fill!!!!! I'm dieting!!!
  24. That's a very good point about the hormone issues! Also, be sure you are getting some good B12 supplements, Vitamins, and plenty of Protein supplements.

    No weight loss

My surgeon personally does my fills even though I have only had two. He would like to see me every 6 weeks or so I think. He has me fill out a questionaire of how and what I am able to eat, questions about reflux, etc. and any questions, problems or concerns I have. I also meet with the nutritionist on each visit.
