  1. It's possible he just can't stand the thought of the woman he loves being in pain so he is trying to minimize it as much as possible. He will be there to help and hopefully your pain will be minimal!

Why did YOU get lap banded?

What if you have a heart attack tomorrow? Life is a risk and obesity is our biggest risk. Which procedure you choose to overcome it depends on your own lifestyle and personal preferences. It also is dependent on the reasons you became obese in the first place. If you are an emotional or binge eater, the lapband may not be the best choice unless you overcome those problems first.
  3. Some people do not lose significantly until they have a few fills and say each one subsides in effect after some weight loss due to fat loss around the band. We are all different. I did see a big 5 pound weight loss the week of each of my 2 fills, but have never really plateaued in weight loss. I have been fortunate to be able to continue losing 1 1/2-2 pounds weekly throughout and have not had to relose any of the pounds. I still have nearly the same restriction today as I had a few weeks after my fill in February. I think there are others who have the same experience.
  4. I have felt very fortunate that I only have needed two fills. I have an app for July 15th, but it may only be a check up because I feel a lot of restriction this week and have not been able to eat much. I was afraid I would be in there every month and it would be very expensive! No, it's not good to be too tight and I think people whose insurance cover fills might be more prone to get that way.

    Chewable Biotin

You can get the sublingual along with b-6 and folic acid. I use one made by Wonder Laboratories. I still have not had any hair loss, but recently contributed it to consumption of tuna and salmon.

    Stretched pouch

I weigh 185 and wear a size 10 or 11 jean size. We all have different shapes and builds and heights that figure into our clothes size. Unfortunately, my top size does not match my bottom size!

    Losing without exercise????

Triplets!!!!!!! Wow! Exercise should be no problem for you! On the other hand, finding time to sit down to eat might be. Good luck to you and congratulations!

    CC's?

If you can't swallow food or water, what does he expect you to do? Some people need to work up slowly to more cc's and I've never really heard of a minimum effective amt. I know one man who lost 70 pounds before he had his first fill with what was put in at banding which was less than 1cc.
  10. You will notice that many people with 100+ pounds to lose, do lose 100 within a year so that is well over 5 pounds a month. At any rate, it all adds up in the long run!!
  11. It's often more early on, but I have averaged 8 pounds a month the past few months.
  12. I lost 12 pounds from the day of surgery until the first fill 6 weeks later.

2month post op and not losing

You could leave all fruit out while you are early in the weight loss. It contains too much sugar. My dr's recommend not eating fruits other than berries the first year. In fact, one of the Dr's says to eat only Protein and vegetables that grow above the ground.........nothing else until we have reached our goal. He's very strict (not the one I request lol), but he does have the lap band and has lost over 100 pounds and maintained it for several years.

2month post op and not losing

Each meal should easily be 300 calories. You don't need to count your veggies (non-carb veggies) as part of your 1/2 cup. If you cut up chicken or meat or fish into tiny pieces, a half cup is quite a bit. If you eat chlli or a bean dish, a half cup is also considerable. I also can have a snack. I really don't measure anything nor do I eat 3 meals a day, but I consume at least 1000 cals a day and 1/2 cup normally fills me up. Your 3 cups of milk would be around 300 cals too wouldn't they? Is there a nutritionist in your Dr's office? The surgeons are not always the best ones to give nutritional advise!

    peanut butter?

I put it in my shakes in the blender in the beginning. It really improved the flavor!! I eat it often now on a spoon especially if my weight loss slows down because I'm not consuming enough calories.

    LapBand VS Sleeve??

I agree with you totally and I would bet that at least 75% of people who have problems with their band are having those problems because they keep getting fills in hopes it will cure their emotional eating. And, it does to some extent because they get sick a lot. It conditions them to not eat so much. However, most will give in to slider foods and quit losing. There should be no reason for people to get sick all the time, have reflux, etc if they are eating properly and not keeping their band too tight. The other 25% who fail just can't tolerate the band. The problem is that so many people get the surgery without taking care of their emotional problems first which cause them to overeat or binge. I was like you. I ate very healthy, but I ate too much and enjoy food!

    LapBand VS Sleeve??

My last PB was in April. My second and last fill was in February. I get a bit hungrier now, but still fill up fast and still lose at the same rate with no more problems eating or worrying about anything getting stuck. I still stick to the Protein shake and skinny latte early in the day.

    What is PB

What does your Dr. say about the daily PBing. I don't think it's normal nor is it a good thing to do. Whether it has caused any damage, you would have to get the Dr. to check you out. It sounds like you may be too tight. As far as weight loss goes, that's a tremendous amt in 3 months so I would definitely say you have lost enough. Hopefully, you are healthy and all is well!! Congrats on the loss. See your Dr.
  22. I was on liquids only just the first 4 days and then was allowed cream soups. All Dr's are different. I was eating mushies into the 2nd week. I was never hungry right up until my first fill........ however, this is not always the case I see on this board! You just have to follow your Dr's orders for eating and take in everything you are allowed to that first month so that you do not get hungry and tempted to eat something you shouldn't. You'll do great!!
  23. Don't worry so much about complications. They do happen, but if you google lapband complication statistics you will see that overall they are rare. And, the band and the way the surgery is done has changed in the past year which lowers chances of problems even further. So relax. There's no sense in worrying about that which probably won't occur and that which we have no control over! Just follow the rules and most likely you will do fine and be thin and healthy within a year!
  24. I'm sorry. I thought by pointing out you were a registered nurse you were trying to say you would naturally know more about lapbands than me or someone who is not a registered nurse. Nursenelly would be catchy though, don't you think? It truly was an accident though!

    pbing to much?

We are all different, but when I feel that "should not take another bite: feeling I know I have had enough for that meal and I do not go back for more. Also, anytime I have had a PB, I was told by my Dr. not to eat any more until the next meal. Anytime one has any sort of "vomiting", they should go to liquids for the rest of the day or longer.
