  1. Ok first off just remember the most important thing, why you are doing this. I know surgery is scary but it will be over before you know it. I've only had one other surgery in my life and it was on my knee so I kinda know what to expect. And don't think about the friday the 13th thing. That is just a superstition and they only way superstitions have their power is if you believe in them (I know it sounds corny lol but just trying to help ) Think of it as the first day of you becoming the person you've always dreamed of. I'm a couple days after you and I'm more excited than nervous now. You will do just fine and I promise you, you will look back at this realize it wasn't that bad . Good luck to you and stay in touch.

I mean, i know deep down that i'm going to be fine. I've had oral surg, under the same anistesia (sp?). Its just such a HUGE deal. I'm excited, but scared, happy but nervious. I think everyone goes through these emotions  Thank you!

  2. I dont think i've posted here yet, but my date is the 12th! I start my pre-op diet on thursday (the 29th!) as each day come closer to surg. i get more and more nervous!

Luckly me and a girl from the pre-op class have been talking on here and she has surg the day i start my pre-op diet! She's going to hook me up with the blow-by-blow details!

  3. What are some of your favorite staple foods? Quick meals? I start my pre-op diet on the 29th and plan on going through our freezer/fridge/pantry and giving all the stuff I won’t be able to eat to my skinny friend's. I'd like to stock up on quick meals and what I should just keep around in my pantry for when I’m actually able to eat.

I bought the book "eating well after weight loss surgery" and she had some good staple foods to have around, but I’m curious to see what you all have around.

Also, if you go out to dinner, where do you go? what do you get?

I'm just trying to get some ideas! I appriciate it!

  4. Hi:

I use those 4 oz. containers and I use those "snack-size" zip loc bags too. I bought some plastic baby spoons too because when I started eating I was taking too big of a bite. I also had issues with eating too fast, so I bought a bunch of one-minute timers to slow me down. The timers can be found on www.unclesgames.com They're cheap, so I bought a half dozen of them so I could keep one at work, one in kitchen, one at desk, one at my best friend's house, etc.

I wish you well with your band. I hope you grow, (I mean shrink) to love your band like I love mine.

    Sue

What a great idea, about the timers! I have a 2 year old daugter, so we have plenty of those spoons!

    Great idea's!!

  5. Alyx--I am also with Richmond Surgical (Dr. Brengman). I will be having surgery at St. Mary's. I have the nutrition workshop in a couple of weeks and have done everything else...I am pretty effing nervous, but this is exactly what I need to turn things around! Keep in touch; maybe I will run into you at the office!

I had my nurtriton class on the 5th of this month. I just got my surgery date in the mail today Feb 12th! I'm so nervous, but i'm really excited. Everyone kept saying how booked up they where, so i wasnt exspecting to get it until march!

  6. So, I've been going through the process to get banded! I've completed my Nutrinist and Psych eval.

I did the Psych eval, tuesday, he said he would try to get it faxed by friday. So hopefully monday i can call and set up the rest of the process, which i believe is pre-op and post-op classes & surgery scheduling.

I'm going to Richmond Surgical Group & with Dr. Shroder (sp?).

My story is pretty typical. I've struggled with my weight my whole life, my family is overweight...blah blah blah.

So it should be fun to have some folks to share with, since no one i know actually KNOWS what its like to go through all this

    So here we go!
