I'm definitely sore right now. My surgeon gave me prescriptions for Percacet and Phenergan (anti-nausea). I have to say that the worst thing about the surgery was getting in and out of the bed afterwards. It's gotten a lot better since, but it HURT at first. My surgeon is very liberal with her post-op diet, too. I didn't get to have anything but water and ice chips on the day of my surgery. For breakfast the next day, though, I got 2 ounces of diet jello and 2 ounces of apple juice. For lunch, I got an ounce each of pureed squash, pureed rice, pureed chicken, and apple sauce. The pureed vegetables were actually really good (not sure if it was because they were good or just because I was hungry), but the chicken wasn't appetizing at all. It needed to be a lot more moist, because it seemed pretty dried and gritty. My surgeon also told me that if I started to get really hungry in the next several days, I can start on solids. Apparently, I didn't have a lot of fat around my stomach, so I probably won't have much restriction until I get a fill.

Hi, guys, I'm back! My surgery went fine, although there were a few things that I wasn't expecting. I don't know whether it was the anesthesia or the morphine drip I was given after surgery, but something made me horribly nauseous. The first time I got up to go use the bathroom, I wasn't sure if I was going to make it there and back to the bed, because I was swaying so much. I also apparently had some breathing problems in the recovery room, because I remember the nurse that worked there shaking me and telling me to breathe. I am incredibly tired, also. I spent the entire day of my surgery in bed (other that going to the bathroom, of course), and then spent most of the next day in bed, also. Right now, I am fighting to stay awake at the computer. It's not too bad, as long as you have someone driving you. Take a pillow, though, so you can brace your stomach.

Several people have sent me their stats or updated them, so I've attached an updated spreadsheet. I am leaving for Memphis in the morning, so this is the last time that I'll post until I get back in several days. I'll try and post an update ASAP, though. See you guys on the loser's bench!

Thanks, guys. It's not any problem for me, since I'm always messing with Excel anyway, and I thought it would be interesting to do and a great way to keep our moral up. Sounds great! Click on my username in one of my posts, and select "send a private message to Laurend." Or, if you want, you can post it in the thread.

Thanks, guys! I'll try to post as soon as possible after my surgery, but it will probably be at least a few days before I can. It's going well. I haven't gotten stats from a bunch of people, though, so I am only going to post the spreadsheet with the stats of everyone who's sent their stats to me. So far, I have 72 people on our spreadsheet, but only about 15 or 16 people have sent me their height and their beginning weight, and I only have updated weights for 3 people this week. I've attached two spreadsheets, one that lists everyone and one that only lists the people that I have stats for. Remember, everyone, I can add you to the spreadsheet at any time. Actually, I already have everyone added to it (I think), so all you need to do is post or PM me your height, beginning weight, and then post or PM me your current weight every week.

I've got you added to the spreadsheet. Tomorrow (or next week, for the next update posting, if you want to wait until then), if you want to PM me with your updated weight, just click on my username in one of my posts and select "send a private message." If you post in the thread, I'll probably catch it, but I can't guarantee it. Good luck! Ckbw, I've got you added to the spreadsheet, if you would like to post or PM me your height and weight.

Don't forget, guys, that you need to weigh yourself on the 30th and PM me with it, if you want me to put it in the spreadsheet. For all the new folks, I'm trying to get everyone's stats together and put them in a spreadsheet. I'll be posting it every so often (hopefully every week or so) so that we can see how everyone is progressing. Kind of a moral-booster, you know? If you want to be included on the spreadsheet, PM me with your starting weight and height, and I'll add them to the spreadsheet. Just to let everyone know, though, I may not be posting until Sunday, since I am leaving tomorrow for my brother's wedding and won't be back until then. I'll try to get the updated spreadsheet posted at that time, if anyone wants to send me their updated stats between now and then. I'll be leaving on Monday to go to Memphis for the surgery, since I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 on Tuesday. It may be several days after my surgery before I'll be able to post again. I'm not sure where I'll be staying afterwards (one place has dial-up internet, the other doesn't have internet at all), so I may or may not be able to give an update on how everything went.

Sorry for being away so long, guys. I've been in Memphis, getting my pre-op labs/xrays/EKG done and seeing the nutritionist, and didn't have access to the internet while I was there. They took 8 tubes of blood from me and had to use both arms, since one stopped giving blood after 5 tubes. And you won't believe this, but I missed my other nutrition class, too. I think I told you all (or made a thread about it, I don't remember) that I had missed my first nutrition class. Well, I thought the second one was going to be at 5:30 yesterday, but apparently, they only do the night classes every other month. I could have SWORN that I had confirmed that the class was at 5:30 when I called and found out that I had missed the first one. I think it said that the class was at that time on the fliers that I got, too, but I lost them. When she told me that it had been at 10:00 that morning, I just stared at her and said, "You're kidding, right?" Luckily, she agreed to go over both classes in the hour that I had to meet with her, or I would have wound up with a delayed surgery. I am doing okay. I've slipped a few times, mainly while I was in Memphis (it's hard to follow a pre-op diet when you are eating out with other people for every meal), but I've been pretty good, considering the circumstances.

    Well, I did it.

I finally deleted my OH account. I just couldn't take it anymore. After getting attacked in the middle of a thread last night, I decided that OH just wasn't worth the stress of basically always having to watch my back. I'd thought about doing it before, but decided that I could just avoid the threads with the feuding. But how do you avoid someone popping up in the middle of a random thread and going off on you?

Hi! It'll be nice to know some more folks in the area.

I am not on total liquids, but I am restricted to two protein bars or shakes per day, one good meal (protein, veggies, fruit, carb), and several pieces of fruit per day. Low-fat/low-carb/low-calorie, I guess. It's not as bad as it could have been, but I'm still pretty hungry, since I'm not very fond of a lot of raw fruit. I've been playing with the schedule, though, to see if there is a way to keep myself from being hungry. The schedule the doctor gave was to have protein shakes/bars for breakfast and lunch and then have the meal for dinner. I've found that that makes me very hungry during the day. I've been doing better since I switched the meal to lunch-time and eat the shakes/bars for breakfast and dinner.

    Well, I did it.

You guys are exactly why I love LBT so much. While OH can be a great resource (if you can wade through the horrid format), it always made me nervous. It really reminded me of a high school. People were friends one day and enemies the next. One minute, they'd be posting about how much they appreciated someone, and the next, there'd be a mob of folks bashing one or two people. Whenever I posted there, I really wondered whether I should duck and cover, because other than a few people, I never knew how everyone's moods were swinging that day. I never really understood just how beneficial and stress-relieving LBT is for me. Yes, you can fight and bitch to your heart's content here, but you know that almost everyone that you are fighting with or bitching with (or at, in some cases, especially when I've been under some extreme stress in RL) is still your friend. At the end of the day, even if they disagree with your beliefs, they are still wonderful support and great friends. So, I want everyone here to know just how much I appreciate them. You guys really are the best.
  13. I had to switch because my insurance wouldn't pay for my original choice, Dr. Olsen at Centennial in Nashville. I chose to go with Dr. McGrath-Weaver in Memphis, and I am so glad I did! No offense meant to folks who had Dr. Olsen as their surgeon, but I just wasn't very comfortable around him, once I had my consult with him. He didn't have a very positive attitude about the lap-band, and even made a comment about how people getting the band weren't as committed to losing weight as people who chose RNY. To be quite honest, his bedside manner sucked. Plus, he didn't have much experience with bands, only about 25 or so, according to OH. I was really quite relieved to learn that my insurance company wouldn't pay for him, because I was having some severe second thoughts about having him as my surgeon. Dr. Weaver, on the other hand, is a wonderful woman. She has a lot more experience with banding, having performed over a hundred when she was doing her fellowship. I met her for the first time this past Wednesday, and I was very impressed with her. She went into all of the possible side effects of the band, without basically telling me that I wasn 't committed, like Dr. Olsen did. She really seemed to care about me and my success, which means a lot. I mean, bedside manner (or lack there-of) isn't a deal-breaker, but it helps a lot.

I have no idea. I haven't been back to look, mainly because I hate their format, too. I did post with the same name over there.

As much as I hate exercise, it sounds like a good idea, Lynette.

My surgeon said I could come to her or she could arrange for a closer surgeon to take me as a patient for the fills. I think I'll try to stay with her, since it gives me an excuse to go to Memphis, which I LOVE. Sure, I'll add you to the spreadsheet! Welcome to Lucky 7s!

I'll post an update every Saturday, starting on June 30th, okay? I'll need everyone to PM me (so that I don't accidentally miss it in the thread) with their updated weights by Friday each week, if they want them posted, so that I'll have time to update the spreadsheet.

With the way it's calculating, Indiogirl55, it calculated your BMI as 42.05. If I lower your height to 5'3", your BMI comes out at 43.4
