Boy, I'm feeling sick all of a sudden. I'm taking anti-nausea pills (really glad I go them refilled last week), but I still feel like puking. I really hope I'm not getting sick. Throwing up is the one thing I am really dreading. I'm so worried that my band will slip if I do.

Get a slight unfill. You should always be able to get liquids down after a fill.

Matrix Chocolate or Cookies and Creme?
anonemouse replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should try the Whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter protein mix. I got a sample of it in BariatricEating.com's mini protein pack (sampler pack), and it's pretty damn good. I could drink that every day. -
Tell me your story I can't pick a MX surgeon!!

I think so, too. I think it's pitiful that people apparently feel the need to make multiple personalities to defend their opinions. -
I am sick to death of people trying to drag me into their feuds with other members. Leave me out of it, people!

I had ordered the mini protein sampler (without the book) from BariatricEating.com. It came with a bottle of Vanilla Very Berry Protein Delite On the Go, where it has a premeasured scoop of powder in the bottle and you just add water and shake. Apparently, this brand has chunks of stuff in the powder, freeze-dried fruit in this case. I just tried it, and it is pretty damn disgusting. The flavor of the actual protein drink is not horrible (not good, either), but the problem is the chunks. I have found that I don't LIKE chunks in my protein drinks, it makes me gag. Plus, it looks like vomit. It mixes up to a grayish-purple with dark chunks in it.
-
I really don't like the flavor enough to go to the trouble of straining it. It's just not good. I haven't tried that one yet, but their Roadside Lemonade is gross. The Apple Ecstasy and Strawberry-Kiwi flavors aren't too bad, if you like very sweet, candy-flavored things.

You know, the fact that Passive Viewer sent me a PM, in which (s)he bashed WASaBubbleButt, called her a liar, and tried to convince me that she was not one of multiple personalities only makes me think that WABB may be right. Especially since I had NEVER PMed or posted anything to Passive Viewer before, or even seen his/her SN before I received the PM (I was out of town for the last few days). The only people I had posted anything about in this thread were B A looser and My Lap-band, and that was only to show the similarities between their posts, so WHY would (s)he PM me, when I had had nothing to do with the discussion between herself and WABB? -
Matrix Chocolate or Cookies and Creme?
anonemouse replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd go for chocolate. WASaBubbleButt sent me some Cookies and cream Matrix samples. They're okay, but not as good as the chocolate Matrix. The cookie bits kind-of settle out, making it very gritty towards the end. It's a little too sweet for me, also. The cookies and cream is way better than a lot of the Protein drinks I've tried (stay far, FAR away from Protein Delite mixes), but still isn't what I'd call "yummy." I've not tried the Matrix orange cream flavor, but I've tried another brand's orange cream flavor, and it SUCKED. If you want something sweet and candy-flavored, try the nectar Apple Ecstasy and Strawberry-Kiwi flavors. I couldn't drink them every day, but they aren't bad for a change. -
Well, we definitely want you to feel better.

Why, for Pete's sake, do my students think I want to know about their health issues? I mean, I DO want to know if they are going to be missing class, but I don't want to know every single detail about their diarrhea or how they've been in the hospital because they haven't had a bowel movement in two weeks. Haven't they ever heard the expression "too much information?" I just want to say, "Thanks for telling me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go stab my ears."
-
Well, the one that was very detailed about her diarrhea was an older woman, and the one that said she was in the hospital actually was in the hospital (she showed me her discharge papers). I guess the older woman could have been lying, but she didn't strike me as the type, since the older students are usually my best ones.

I don't know why I keep going to ObesityHelp.com. It is seriously RNY-centered over there. Every time someone posts a question about Lap-bands in the main forum, they get sent off like a leper to the Lap-band forum. It's like they give bandsters their own little corner of OH and then expect them to stay there and never come out. On April 1st, one of the guys from the band board went and posted on the main board. It was meant to be both an April Fools joke and a poke at the RNYers that act like their surgery is the best surgery to have. Of course, it started all sorts of crap. People were flaming each other and the thread got locked. Now the lap-band forum has a stickied post at the top, reminding all who post there that the whole point of OH is acceptance, yadda, yadda, yadda. Of course, there isn't a post like that in the RNY forum or in the main forum. Only the Lap-Band forum deserved to be scolded as a whole, apparently. Pisses me off to no end, especially since a some of the RNY folks who post in the main forum like to make outright mean and misinforming posts about the lap-band and the people who have that surgery.

I have had way too much caffeine this afternoon, and it's all starting to hit me now. I went to Starbucks on the way home and got a venti vanilla iced coffee and downed it in less than 5 minutes. Guess I was thirstier than I thought!

No restriction. Time to Freak Out!
anonemouse replied to want2beme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The period between your surgery and your first fill isn't about losing weight. This is when you are supposed to allow your stomach to heal. It's not that much longer until your fill. Just try to watch what you eat. -
Not that brand, at least. I still have a bunch of other samples to try, so I'm hoping the others are better.

Protien shake recommendations...Please
anonemouse replied to mbanja's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I have a recommendation for a brand you shouldn't try, Protein Delite. See my thread here for details. -
I've had two fills so far, for a total of 1.8 cc in my band. My surgeon put 1.4 in the first fill and another 0.4 ccs with the second one. When I went for the second fill, she could only draw back 1.0 cc, but she said not to worry about it, that that happens with many people. After the second fill, I had really great restriction for the first few days, but I definitely feel looser now. Right now, I'm debating about whether I should go ahead and make an appointment for a fill or wait to make one for the same day I go to the nutritionist for my 3 month post-op checkup in October. I REALLY want to get the fill as soon as possible, but it is a 6-7 hour drive, you know? And with gas prices the way they are, it's hard for me to justify making the trip twice within a couple of weeks. On the other hand, if I wait, that's an extra couple of weeks without optimal restriction.
-
I don't really have a set appointment. I just call and make one whenever I feel like I need a fill. But I figure that since I have to be in Memphis in October for my nutritionist appointment, I might as well make one for the same day to get a fill, just to save a trip. I think that's what I'll do. With my luck, I will probably have to wait a couple of weeks to get an appointment for the fill anyway, so I might as well go ahead and make it for the same day in October as my nutritionist appointment.

Help, my Daughter doesn't want me to have lapband surgery
anonemouse replied to jeanne352's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do what GR8 suggests, and if she still doesn't come around, tell her, "I'm sorry that you don't approve, but this is my body and my life. You've told me your concerns, now respect my decision." -
Yeah, definitely sounds like a doctor to avoid.
-
Ditto! Although, it is a bit like passing a car wreck on the interstate. You can't help but watch.

Like other people have said, I'm sick of hypocrites. You know, those folks that use the prejudices of other people to make their careers. Then what do we see? Those people are exactly what they speak so strongly against. It's disgusting. I'm also sick of people who act like they are oh, so holy, and that their shit doesn't stink, yet are the first to attack people who don't fit into their white, heterosexual, conservative Christian world. It's the ultimate in hypocrisy, in my opinion, and those people are completely undeserving of even an iota of respect.
-
I think Boo Boo Kitty is in the right here. Like it has been said so many times on this board, people should follow THEIR surgeon's instructions, not other people's surgeon's instructions. Telling someone that they can absolutely do something and have no adverse reaction is wrong. There is no way around that. It doesn't matter if your doctor says you can do it. Her doctor may not agree. The correct action here was to tell the OP to ask her surgeon.

"Courtesy" parking for pregnant women and ones with children
anonemouse replied to thebrick's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
That sucks, that they'd put officers before women and children. Oh well, that's the military for you, I guess.
