And they are VERY interesting. Too bad they can't be linked from certain messageboards (not LBT). If they could, it might open a few eyes!

Yup! And then we get to mock the dumb-asses. :whoo:

I really don't want to hate my family...
anonemouse replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
But seriously, neveragain, I know how you feel. My dad has three degrees. My brother also has three, including an MBA and a law degree. My branch of the family is apparently the high-achieving section of the family and I get a lot of pressure to excel. It's like, "Your dad and your brother did this and did that. Now what are you going to do?" You get so much pressure to succeed that you feel like you have to do it better and faster or else you're a failure. It's not enough just to do something, you have to do it better. -
I really don't want to hate my family...

I guess I'm one of the minority. The thought of marriage is actually unpleasant to me, honestly. I truly get the creeps every time I think of getting married to a guy, settling down, and having kids. I like the thought of being able to quit my job and move to a new town without having to consult someone else. Most men (at least where I'm from) expect their wives to be "the little lady" and do all the cooking, all the cleaning, stay home, etc. I'm just not wired like that. I'd go nuts and kill him or shove a pot roast where the sun doesn't shine. -
Dr Christopher Evanson from Indiana (so disappointed)

Try Dr. Curry in Cincinnati. His office is a center of excellence. Here is his website: Trace W. Curry, M.D. Lap Band Surgeon :: Home -
Yep, avoid collagenic protein like the devil, along with anything that lists calcium caesinate as an ingredient. Both are VERY low quality sources of protein.

I think my new favorite kitchen tool is the Blender Bottle I got with my Protein sampler pack from BariatricEating.com. It's just a plastic bottle with a whisk-ball inside it, but it works amazingly well to get all those pesky lumps out of Protein drinks. I'm attaching a picture of it. Note to anyone that wants one: Don't buy it from BariatricEating.com or even the manufacturer's website. You can get them for much cheaper from the Home Shopping Network website, in either a set of two small ones (20oz) or a set of four large ones (28oz). Seriously, I'll never go back to mixing my drinks with a fork or spoon, 'cause this thing rocks!

I've recommended Matrix chocolate (Syntrax), whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter (PVL), and nectar Fuzzy Navel (Syntrax). This time, I am recommending IDS vanilla Cinnamon Protein powder. Believe me, I wouldn't recommend something that I wouldn't drink myself (and I'm very picky about my protein drinks). This one is really good. I am pretty sensitive to tastes, so I don't like many Protein drinks, I like this one. It's light, with a slight cinnamon flavor. And the best parts? There is no horrid aftertaste like many protein drinks have, it shakes up into a very smooth drink (I LOVE my blender bottle), and there is no overwhelming artificial sweetener flavor. Links to online stores with good prices for all the above products: Matrix and Nectar: Netrition's Syntrax Prices Whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter: Netrition's PVL Prices (not all the flavors are available here, more are available at BariatricEating.com's Whey Gourmet page) IDS Vanilla Cinnamon: IDS

Yet another protein shake recommendation
anonemouse replied to anonemouse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only vanilla shake that I've liked was the IDS Vanilla Cinnamon, but of course, it isn't plain vanilla. And like I posted, it's better suited for weight-lifters than bariatric patients. Have you tried the new nectar Vanilla? I've heard that it's pretty good. -
If you haven't posted it here, you need to. I loved that post. It really did a great job at answering all of the questions that newbies SHOULD be asking.

What really bothers me is when people post proudly that they just had a fill and can't eat more than a tablespoon at one sitting without PBing or barfing. Or when people complain that they are too loose because they can eat a whole 1/4 cup of food. Even I, as a newby bandster, know that you should be able to eat at least that much at one sitting, if not more.

I don't know, I guess I have two different opinions on this topic. Ideally, I wouldn't be against a total ban on guns. The problem with that is that there are way too many guns out on the street at this point, and I don't think a total ban would work. My second opinion is that people should be allowed to own guns, but with severe restrictions. I don't think anyone with felony convictions, or certain misdemeanor convictions, or a history of mental illness should be allowed to own a gun. I think that everyone in a household where a gun is present should be forced to take at least a yearly safety course in order to be allowed to keep their gun. I don't think fully automatic weapons should be legal, with the exception of legitimate collectors and law enforcement personel. I also think that there should be a requirement to have guns kept in a locked gun safe or kept with a trigger guard.

I can't remember if I've replied to this thread or not. Anyway, I like a little bit of everything. Currently, I'm most into classic rock, but I also like a little country (Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, classic Garth Brooks, etc.), blues, pop (yes, I was an Nsync fan, stop laughing), even hip-hop (Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas, etc.).

I like it, but again, I don't know a heck of a lot about PDAs.
-
I'm not sure. You may have to route it through your phone or something, but that should be simple if your phone has Bluetooth.
-
Ooh, the Nokia Internet Tablet looks great! It comes with a built-in wireless card and costs about $360.00 right now.
-
I think you can. Of course, I think you'd have to buy service or have some form of free wireless, but a lot of the new ones can access the internet. I just looked at CircuitCity.com, and you can get a Palm TX for $279.00, and it's WIFI capable.
-
Have you thought about just getting a PDA? I think those can be used to check internet/email. If so, that would probably work best, since you already have a phone.

Yet another protein shake recommendation

Disregard this one, folks. Just found out that this protein mix is better suited for weight-lifters than bariatric patients. -
Diet drinks and Artifcial sweeteners

It causes cancer. -
Yes! I absolutely LOVE mine. Mine came with the protein sampler pack from BariatricEating.com. Although, I have found them for a lot less money on the Home Shopping Network website. You can get a set of two 20oz cups for about $13.00 or a set of 4 28oz cups for $20.00. Every other place I've seen them, they cost about $8-$9 per cup, minimum. They're great for mixing basic protein drinks. I will never go back to mixing with a spoon after using it.

OUCH, Wheetsin. And here I was, worrying about throwing up (I felt like puking most of yesterday). Well, I hope you continue feeling fine, and that the weight stays off.

I already made posts recommending Matrix Chocolate (by Syntrax) and Whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter flavors. This time, I'm recommending a fruit flavored powder. Nectar Fuzzy Navel (also by Syntrax) is pretty good, almost like drinking those orange/pineapple/peach mixed juices. I'm not sure if I would be able to drink it every day, but it would be a good change from the standard vanilla or chocolate shakes.
-
I got the mini protein sampler from BariatricEating.com, and I just tried the Whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter sample. It's REALLY good. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes peanut butter.

Believe me, it's so stupid that you don't want to know. Someone on the board is feuding with one of my friends here, and the person decided to PM me to yank me into the middle of it.
