Do You Agree With Brad ??

Don't get me wrong, I like Mormons. They aren't bad, as long as they leave you alone. My ex-roommate converted to LDS so that she could date her boyfriend, who was also a Mormon. I lived with her for 4 years, until I graduated and they got married. And subsequently divorced, the day before their 1st anniversary, as the case was.

Ditto, again. Except here in Kentucky, it's Mormons and Southern Baptists.

Ditto. I went to church every Sunday for 18 years. I tried to believe, to have faith. I didn't. If I could have chosen to believe, I would have.

Oy. Scientists have no better ability to understand partial sentences than anyone else. And I'll keep my other comment to myself. It probably wouldn't go over well.

Yes, they do work together. But they aren't the same. One is a science, the other is not.

Um, what? I wasn't being facetious to you. I seriously don't understand what you mean by "Holidays espcially easter and the resurrection of christ, jesus walking on Water, etc." That isn't a full sentence, just a list of subjects. I need to know what you are saying about them. What about holidays? What about the resurrection of christ? What about jesus walking on water? It's not belittling your character to ask you to type in a complete sentence. Otherwise, people have no clue what you are talking about. It would be like me saying, "biology, medicine, insects." What about biology, medicine, insects? People cannot read your mind! Again, astrology is not considered a science. It is considered to be a psuedoscience at best. Go as any biologist or physicist or chemist and ask them if astrology is a science. They will, without a doubt, say no. Astrology is divination by the position of stars and moons. Astonomy is the study of matter in outer space. There is a vast difference between the two. One is a science. The other is not. Period. And again, NO, I'm not a "christian scientist." I'm an ATHEIST.

    Sweet ideas

I haven't. I like the originals very much, so I try to stay away from stuff that's likely to tempt me to eat more. :faint:

Astrology isn't a science. Astronomy is. Two very different fields. And I'm still not sure what you are talking about with the statement " Holidays espcially easter and the resurrection of christ ,jesus walking on water, etc." I need a sentence, here.

    Sweet ideas

Those are very yummy. The 100-calorie packs that you can get are good, too. The oreo ones are delish, especially if you are like me and like the chocolate cookie part better than the center.

    Sweet ideas

I usually drink Gatorade if I want something sweet to drink. 50 cals per 8 oz. I buy the powder, so I can mix my own. Sometimes, I water it down a little, because it can still be a little sweet.

Speaking as a scientist, how do you figure?

To add to my last post (because editing is a bitch).... Any group can say the same. Any time someone belongs to a distinct group, whether it's defined by belief, color, ethnicity, etc., that group is categorized as a whole, in many cases, usually to the detriment of most of it's members.

Do You Agree With Brad ??

That's a good point. And the same can be said about ANY group, not just Christians. I've seen it about Atheists, Muslims, Hindus, etc. It's not something that is unique to Christians. It may resonate more with you because you belong to that group, but it isn't unique.

Do You Agree With Brad ??

I agree completely. There are "fundies" of every creed. I, personally, couldn't care less about what someone believes in, as long as they leave me alone.

I think most loving Christians would be completely shocked by what a person who is open about their Atheism faces. The people that, to them, are a quiet minority (the people who openly hate) are to us a very vocal minority. So, yes, to us they speak the loudest. You can't say "no, that's not true" until you've faced people coming up to you and telling you that you are going to burn in hell, telling your children that they are going to burn in hell, firing you because you aren't Christian, etc., etc., etc.

Do You Agree With Brad ??

To add to my last post.... And yes, most Atheists do live by their personal standards. But that's just it, they are their personal standards. There isn't any one group of moral standards that they are supposed to be living by, in order to be an Atheist. If one decides to cheat on an exam, it doesn't affect me whatsoever. Yes, that violates MY standards, but we don't have to share the same standards in order to be Atheists.

Do You Agree With Brad ??

I didn't say they weren't doing anything wrong. There are bad people out there, no matter what their personal creed is. But when you get a group of people that are supposed to love their fellow man and whatnot to be in that group, and then one turns around and starts talking about gays and black men as "faggots" and "niggers," it kind of makes an impression. And, good or bad, it makes more of an impression coming from someone is part of a group that is supposed to be loving and caring.

Do You Agree With Brad ??

Honestly, I think that if Christians get judged harder than anyone, I think it is because Christianity is supposed to be about loving and accepting your fellow man. There is no such standard in Atheism, just that we believe that there is no higher power. When we Atheists see people that profess to be Christian (and who are we to tell them they aren't really Christians?) but still speak with hate in their hearts, still despise their fellow man, still rape and murder and gay-bash and....well, you get my point. I think you need to try and see it from our point of view. When the loudest voices of a group are the ones that speak hate, what would you think? Yes, I think they are the vast minority, but they are the loudest.

    So......Hungry.......

Smoothie King, if you live in the South. To the OP.... Just remember, eventually you'll probably get to the point where you'll have to force yourself to eat because you won't feel hungry. Just think of that, and it'll help you get through your day.

    Fat Free Half & Half

And on the original topic.... I just used regular half & half in my tea. I only have 1-2 cups per day, and I'm struggling to get enough calories in as it is. I don't think it will hurt anything.

Exactly. I'm a scientist. I have to have proof. And in no way is "a book was written about it" proof. books have been written that say aliens landed in Roswell. Books have been written that say the Holocaust never happened. Simply pointing to a book and saying, "Well, it said God created trees and trees exist, so it must be right" goes completely against everything that I am. Some people may be able to do that. I can't.

    Smells SO good!

Since I've decided to try eating more non-meat protein, I've been buying lots of beans. Right now, I'm trying a new recipe. I chopped up onion, green pepper, garlic, and celery and threw them in a pot with a little olive oil to cook for a little while. Then I put in a carton of chicken stock, about 2 cups of navy beans, a cut-up chicken breast, and a bay leaf. It smells absolutely heavenly in my apartment. I'm planning to add a can of diced tomatos after it's cooked for a while. :biggrin1: I don't know how it will taste, but it sure smells good.

    Adding protein shakes

www. unjury.com You can also get a Protein sampler from Bariatric Eating - Protein, Vitamins, Gastric Bypass & Lap Band Info, Post-op recipes, and Help. Some of it is low-quality stuff, though, like the New whey Bullet and the canned drinks. Some of the samples are pretty good, though. One of the better rules to follow when choosing protein is 1) no Calcium caseinate, and 2) no collagenic protein. Both are extremely low quality Proteins. Anyway, Matrix chocolate is a good protein, as is Whey Gourmet's Chocolate Peanut Butter.

    Fat Free Half & Half

I don't do decaf. One thing that you'll find by reading this website is that all doctors and nutritionists have different plans for their patients. One requires a liquid diet pre-surgery, one requires it post-op, one doesn't require it at all. You get my drift. Your nutritionist and surgeon will have a list of things that they will want you to do. It's best to follow their advice.
  25. I would imagine they would be mushies. I don't know why they would be considered full liquids.
