What Is A Soft Spot Or Sweet Spot?

You can also get the oh-so-pleasant soft stop indicator of excess sinus drainage, like I did. For a long time, I thought I didn't have one, until I realized that was happening.

    World has gone to PC

Very true. It's one thing to start a post with "Funny joke about...." It's very different to post something that makes fun of a group of people that had been discussed in a rather heated on-going discussion, especially when you know that there are members of that group currently posting on the board. In other words, the impression changes from "this is meant to be funny" to "this is meant to piss people off."

    World has gone to PC

To me, it really depends on whether the person cracking the joke belongs to the group or culture that he's making the joke about. You know, whether he intrinsically understands the nuances of that culture. Otherwise, it just appears to be a person playing to people's prejudices and hoping to get a laugh by, in many cases, denigrating an entire culture or group of people.

    Imagine my surprise

Guess what I just got? An email from the same damn student that didn't start coming to the lecture until he made a 30 on the first exam (ha actually passed the 2nd one - barely), asking me to send him the powerpoint handouts of all the chapters on next week's exam and the review sheet. Kinda ticks me off. For one, he should have still had those handouts, since we've only met for two classes (one class a week) since the last exam and I gave them out during class. The second thing is that he would have gotten the review sheet if he had bothered to come to class this past Friday. No wonder the guy has a fucking 51 average so far.

    Puppy Pics

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure! My dad's a vet, btw, so I was always obsessed with animals as a kid (and even now, I guess :nervous). I used to sit and stare at a book of dog breeds and dream about having all the unusual-looking ones. I always wanted a bull terrier, just because of the snout. Unfortunately, I found out that I'm allergic to dogs (I get hives when they lick me or if I pet them for very long), so I usually stick to cats now. Although, I may break my "no dogs" rule one of these days, if I can get a Great Dane. Love those.

    Islamobiles!!!

To me (and Derick knows I think he's a good guy, so it isn't that I don't), it's no different than a white person getting up on stage in black-face, dancing around and singing exagerratedly with their eyes bugged out. It's offensive. This statement following the quote wasn't amusing in the slightest.

    Oh god.

Good, I think! You must either be into ecology/wildlife science or read a lot!

Tifferoni, is that a bull terrier or some other breed?

I hate it when people post just to post.....

How do I make a thread? Seriously, you've told me several times where the "new thread" button is, but I still can't find it.

    Thread For Hunters

I'm not a hunter, but as someone with a degree in wildlife and fisheries science, I recognize that it is necessary, especially when it comes to species like deer. Otherwise, you get an extremely large population with high rates of disease, parasitism, effects from lack of available food, etc. To top it off, overly-large populations of deer mean increased probability of deer/human interaction, usually in the form of road accidents. I highly respect the people that do it with dignity and respect for the animal.

    Expectations vs. reality

Like others have said, I thought I would have to take tiny bites and sips. I don't. I can take normal-sized bites and drink normally very easily. I thought that there would be a lot of foods that I wouldn't be able to eat. In reality, the only food that gives me trouble is very soft bread. And even there, I can get small amounts down if I go slowly. I can eat Pasta, meat, and any vegetable just fine. With the soft stop, I thought it would be very easy to tell what it was, that it was going to be a hiccup or burp or whatever. Instead, it took me nearly 4 months to figure out what mine is, and it's a lot of sinus drainage. If I eat beyond that, I don't PB or anything, I'm just uncomfortably full. I thought I was guaranteed to PB or slime. I haven't done either yet, and I've only gotten stuck once (and it went down after a few minutes).

    Cute website for cat lovers!

Aww! He's a very pretty kitty, I think. He'll adjust sooner or later, I think, as long as you don't rush him.

    Obese!

I am now simply "obese," instead of "severely obese!" *dances madly* I love this thing! :biggrin1:

Wheetsin, got a question for you...

I know you know quite a bit about computer crap. I've been looking into buying a new lap-top computer eventually. I'm very attracted to the Alienware computers, despite their price, but I don't know whether I should go with one of those or a more main-stream brand like Dell or HP. Right now, I'm using a Sony Vaio, and I like it, but I don't know if I want to stay with that brand, either. Any advice about which is better?

Do You? You know use that word!

What really disturbs me is that there is over 16% of the people that voted that think there is nothing wrong with saying it. Ick.

    IRAQ WAR your thoughts

Actually, she was the one being accused of anti-semitism, so I think she was just trying to figure out what part of her post was supposed to be anti-semitic.

    Caffeine

It really depends on your surgeon. Some docs let their patients have caffeine, others don't. There's no real hard and fast rule about it. I really think the basis behind it is that it can dehydrate you. I mean, I noticed lately (after I had been drinking more coffee and tea than plain water) that I got very dehydrated, to the point of having extremely salty saliva. The only thing that made it better was to really increase my water intake. I think you'd be fine, though, if you do like you said and made sure that you drank twice as much water as caffeinated drinks.
