Who have you had enough of ??

Ugh, don't get me started. I've been getting calls from at least two collection agencies, looking for two different people. I'm getting pretty darn fed up with it all.

    "Know-It-Alls"......bug me to no end

I have to agree. Some people think that "support" is all about agreeing with whatever they are doing. It isn't. They want to hear "yes, what you are doing is just fine" and "you're right, that's the perfect plan, you'' be very successful." The plain fact is that there are certain things that bandsters shouldn't be doing, and it isn't "unsupportive" to point that out. People scream that they are being attacked when someone points out that they shouldn't be eating solids or an entire bag of candy or a quart of ice cream (when even they have said that they've jumped ahead in their diet). They scream attack when they ask people to give their input and someone gives input that they don't like. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Support isn't always about saying "yes, dear." It's about pointing out where people might be going wrong and trying to help them rectify the situation. And like it or not, the best people to do that are the "oldies" who have been around the block a time or two. Call them "know-it-alls" if you want. I personally call them inspiration. I sure as hell hope that if I suddenly start posting about how I eat nothing but junk food and don't exercise and that I'm wondering why I'm not losing weight, that they'll slap some sense into me. THAT is true support, not them telling me that I'm doing wonderfully and to keep doing what I'm doing.

    Customer Service is no more!!!

I would imagine that the reason your husband got somewhere when you didn't was simply because he's male, to be honest. There are a lot of people out there that will be very nasty to women customers who are complaining, simply because they think women are push-overs who aren't willing to take part in a confrontation. Men, on the otherhand, are much more likely to be treated with respect, in many cases. Oh, and has anyone ever been to this website before? It's a blog community where people working in customer service post about the horrid customers that they have. It's rather interesting and eye-opening.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Awesome! You are very welcome! I stole the recipe from the mother of one of my brother's exes. For the mother of a health-food addicted nutritionist (I'm still convinced that the woman was in recovery from an eating disorder, she was so obsessed over food and calories), she could sure cook! Ditto. Ick. Kashi tastes like cardboard to me, to be honest. I'd rather eat grapenuts. And I HATE grapenuts.

Never had that, but I LOVE TGIFriday's fried green beans.

    Vaniqa

I've heard of freezing or burning them off, but I don't know what the procedure is called or if you could get it done at a spa. :noidea:

    Vaniqa

Sorry, guys! I meant to post right after I got back from my first treatment last Monday, but I wound up going to my parents' house and didn't have internet. Anyway, the treatment wasn't bad, for the most part. A lot of it, I could either just barely feel or not feel at all. Some of it, though, felt like I was being jabbed with a handful of needles and the person jabbing me was raking them down my skin. Luckily, that was only in a couple of places, apparently where I had large patches of closely-packed, extremely coarse, dark hair. The technician was very good, though, stopping whenever I needed to take a break. The whole think only lasted a few minutes. I can already tell a difference, I think. The spa is making me wait 8 weeks betweeen treatments, so my next one isn't until the middle of January. I'm rather happy with the experience, since everyone was very nice and the treatment wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Plus, if I don't have to use all 5 treatments that are incuded in the package, they'll give me a credit for what I don't use, so that's nice.

    Calories at Starbucks

Hope there isn't anyone here who regularly eats Starbucks' pastries. Has anyone else checked out the calorie content of them? OUt of all the varieties available at my local Starbucks, there are only three with fewer than 360 calories. The pastry with the fewest calories (chocolate fudge brownie) still had 280. That's a MAJOR portion of calories, leaving relatively few calories for the rest of the day, especially when you consider the portion size. And if you pair it with a drink, unless you get non-fat/sugar-free variety (other than plain coffee or cappucino), you're adding at least 100-150 calories, maybe as many as 700 (for the venti white chocolate frappucino creme with whipped topping). Believe me, if you want to remain in the dark about Starbucks' calories, you don't want to go to their site.
  9. Has anyone tried these? I saw them on the Bariatric Eating website, but I didn't want to pay $27.00 for a case of 12 when I'm not sure I'd even like them in the first place.

YES! That's it! I love those commercials.

    Project Runway?

Anyone else going to watch the season premiere? I'm almost embarassed to admit that I watch it, but it's addictive, I tell ya!

Fudge. Not Geico. The duck commercials, whatever insurance company that is.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. (BTW, that was said to the "nah, nah, nah" of the goat Geico commercial.)

No prob! I hope it turns out well. Don't be surprised if the juices run over in your oven a tad. You may want to put a layer of aluminum foil on the rack below it. Otherwise, your oven might smoke a little on the next use.

LOL, it probably would, but I think anyone eating it would probably have an instant heart attack from all the calories and cholesterol.

Here it is: Ingredients: 13 x 9 baking pan (glass is best), sprayed with Pam 2 lbs lean ground beef 1 TBSP minced garlic 9 lasagna noodles 8-12 ounces of ricotta cheese (I use whole-milk ricotta) 1-1.5 cups parmesan cheese 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 4 eggs 1/2 TBSP dried oregano 1 jar Bertolli Olive Oil and Garlic spaghetti sauce 1 jar Bertolli 5 Cheese spaghetti sauce Directions: Preheat oven to 350. Cook lasagna noodles until you can just barely pierce them with a fingernail. Brown ground beef with garlic and drain off the grease. Combine with both jars of sauce. Mix eggs and ricotta cheese together until smooth. Add oregano. Add a handful each of mozzarella and parmesan. Lay 3 noodles on bottom of sprayed dish. Spoon 1/3 of sauce mixture evenly on the noodles, then spoon 1/2 of ricotta mixture on. Sprinkle on a handful each of mozzarella and parmesan. Add another layer of 3 noodles. Spoon another 1/3 of the sauce and remaining ricotta onto the lasagna. Add remaining noodles. Top with remaining sauce. Cover with remaining mozzarella and parmesan. Bake for 45 minutes to an hour. I usually bake for an hour, because my family likes our lasagna to be rather dark. Like I said, it is definitely NOT low calorie or low fat, but it's one of my family's favorite "sometime dishes."

I've got an awesome (and very easy) recipe for lasagna, if you want it. Seriously, I've gotten compliments and "give me that recipe" from everyone that's tried it.

    I wanna slap 'em!

Believe me, they amaze me, too. And not in a good way, sometimes. :straight At least the good ones generally make up for the bad ones.

    I wanna slap 'em!

For Pete's sake! I just checked my email. Guess what I had? An email from one of my students, dated around 9 PM, asking me to email her the handouts because she lost them. The test is TOMORROW MORNING!

    Remind me...

Yep. I very rarely stay up past 2 or 3 AM if I'm just on the computer. But with a book, I either lose track of time or want to finish it before I go to sleep. I'm completely zonked today. I wish I could just go home and curl up under my down comforter, but I still have to teach another lab and then make the 2 1/2 hour drive home for Thanksgiving break. I'm seriously considering just parking my car in the far end of the parking lot and taking a nap before I leave.

I think I'll just stick with my regular home-made lasagna. It's got more than enough calories in it just by itself, with 2 pounds of ground beef, whole-milk ricotta cheese (8-12 ounces), 4 cups of mozzarella cheese, and about 1 cup of parmesan cheese. It's definitely not an "anytime meal."

    Caffeine

I have to agree. One piece of chocolate cake won't make us fat again, and a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate every so often won't kill us.

No, don't do that! Believe me, Rants and Raves does wonders with relieving tension and stress. Plus it's a great outlet for bitchiness! :biggrin1:
