    Bad day

I am so glad I don't work in customer service. I feel so sorry for you guys, I really do. There are some people in this world that just need to be slapped.

    For those who have PCOS

PCOS is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It's basically a condition where women have an abnormal level of androgens (male hormones), caused by cysts forming on the ovaries. Well, that's the short and dirty version of it, anyway. It can cause lots of very irritating problems, such as male-pattern hair loss, hair growth in unwanted areas, acne, infertility due to not ovulating, excess weight, etc.

    For those who have PCOS

I've never tried spiro, but I've heard that it is a very common drug used to treat the symptoms of PCOS. Honestly, the only thing that helped my acne was going on birth control. I even tried Accutane before that, and while it did get rid of the very worst of the cystic acne that I had, it didn't do as much as it should have, considering that it is used as a last-ditch acne medication (it has some rather nasty possible side effects). It probably didn't help, though, that my doc had to keep lowering my dosage because my liver function shot up when I was on a regular dose. That crap was expensive, too. The first month cost me over $1200 out of pocket. Well, actually, I have to ammend that statement. Proactiv actually really helped, too. I went on BC and Proactiv at the same time, and my skin cleared up beautifully. I mean, I still have some acne (mostly blackheads and random zits), but it is SO much better than it was. With the excess hair, the only thing that's worked for me is laser treatment. I just had my first treatment on the 19th, and I can already see a major difference. Of course, I have very fair skin and extremely dark, coarse hair (think chin-pubes), so it might not work as well on people who are darker skinned or have lighter hair.
  4. The only thing I can think of that would be even remotely similar to what s/he was talking about is that I've heard many times that if you get a port-site infection, it can travel to your band, causing a major infection around it and making removal of the band necessary. I don't think it has anything to do with erosion, though.
  5. I totally agree. Unfortunately, I think the time to tell her about the price increase has already passed. That should have been done back when you first knew that all you had to go on was a picture. But, on the upside, you can use it as a learning experience and let your future clients know that they can either give you the pattern that they want or they have to pay an extra fee if you have to do all the legwork yourself.

    biggest insult ever-sex related-from dh

I'm gonna have to agree with what just about everyone else has said. Your hubby was being more than a little bit of an ass. Seems to me like he's trying to drive you away, maybe because he doesn't have the balls to end the relationship himself. No offense meant, but it was clearly warned in the title that the thread was sex related. If you couldn't handle the very real possibility of some details that you think are TMI, you shouldn't have come in.

In Your 20's And Had Surgery?

I was 23 when I was banded in July. So far, I've had a wonderful experience and I'd do it all over again if I had to. Luckily, I seem to have had a fairly easy recover, compared to a lot of people. Many people have bad gas pain or referred diaphragm pain in their shoulder. I didn't. All I had to deal with was the usual incision pain.
  8. Honestly, I had a bunch of stuff that I never needed. The only thing that I brought that I actually used was my pillow, which I used like Longhorn did.

    sorry i have to ask...

I've not tried that, but I do eat other types of pasta. In fact, I had spaghetti tonight. I can't eat very much of it, but I do enjoy it from time to time.
  10. Heh, so I went ahead and applied for this today. I figure, if I get it, that's great. It would give me a paycheck while I'm trying to finish my thesis and then figure out what I'll do after grad school. If I don't, I always have teaching undergrads to fall back on.

    What doctor did your banding?

Dr. Virginia McGrath-Weaver St. Francis Hospital Memphis, TN

    Inside Brookhaven obesity clinic

I've always been very turned off by that show. You'd think that the administrator would realize that sometimes, the "easy way" is the best way, especially considering the health of a lot of his patients.

    Customer Service is no more!!!

Yep, Publix is a grocery store. I'm not sure if they are in Arkansas. Most of the ones I've seen have been in the deep south (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, etc.). I've always loved them though, because the ones that I've been in have always had excellent service.

    Customer Service is no more!!!

Isn't it? Some of it is obviously exaggerated, but if even half of it's true, there are a lot of nasty and inconsiderate people out there.

    Yes, she does! :biggrin1:

    America's Most Obese Cities

Memphis made the #1 spot. Not surprised at all, to be honest.

    Tennessee Lap Banders

I'm from Crossville, but Dr. McGrath-Weaver at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis did my surgery.
  18. There used to be a function in the control panels where we could ignore entire forums, but I don't know if we still have it or not.
  19. Ditto. The fact is, if anyone "accidentally" goes into RnR, it's only because they aren't paying attention to what they are doing. Even in the "new threads" section, the forum that the thread is in is clearly identified on the right side of the screen. So unless you've clicked before looking to see where a thread is or clicked on a link someone posted in another thread, you're pretty darn safe.

    Crappity crap

Yep, that's pretty much what I've heard. Several of his patients now see my surgeon, and that's basically the story they've given me when I've talked to them. He apparently has HORRID bedside manner, making several of them cry.

    Remind me...

SO far, I've succeeded. I've only stayed up to 5am a couple of times. I've usually gone to bed before 3, for the most part. I can't help it, I'm a natural night owl, I guess. :noidea: I'd much rather stay up at night than get up early.

    Remind me...

Please remind me never to stay up until 7 AM again, please. It really screws with my sleep schedule, especially when I have to be up at 6:45 tomorrow morning.

    Remind me...

It's the Blood series by Tanya Huff, and the Smoke series that came after it. It's a vampire mystery/romance type thingy. If you've ever seen the Blood Ties series on Lifetime, it's based on the Blood series of books. The show's campy and corny as hell (I still watch it, though :guess), but the books are pretty good.

    Remind me...

It went very well! A little painful in spots, but nothing intolerable.
  25. anonemouse

    Vaniqa

Sounds pretty accurate. The most painful spots for me were right on the tip of my chin, and at the edge of my jaw. I have a few spots where the hair is very heavy there. Not comfortable at all. Otherwise, though, I didn't feel much.
