I've got a heating pad on it right now, and I did take a tylenol.

That is perfectly said. You seem to realize that what a person says isn't always what a person does. In other words, like my mom says, it's not what is said that defines a Christian, it's what's done. A person can profess their Christianity to everyone they see, but the only thing that matters at the end of the day is what they do.

I Very Much Agree!

I got 85%, but only because a couple of the questions confused me. The one that was asking which of the following to obey over the other three, for instance (steady red light, stop sign, police officer, or flashing red light). I originally chose the police officer (correct answer) but then chose flashing red light, because I thought it meant the lights on top of an ambulance or fire truck.

Ouch! One question, though. How did he break his hand on a treadmill? You'd almost have to be trying to do that, I think. I guess it is almost on the level of me nearly breaking my nose when I walked into a sliding glass door.

Have they found the Boxes Jesus was buried in?
anonemouse replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
Actually, NO he didn't. He NEVER identified himself as a Communist or Socialist, and you not liking the way he worships God doesn't make his God made-up. -

Getting rather stalker-ish there, Ron. -

Actually, that's a very good question, and I for one would like to hear an answer. But of course, you don't have one, do you, Ron? All you can do is follow people around and post vitriol about them. -
Right. Except for the Christians that are also posting against Ron. So, not really anti-Christian at all, just anti-bigotry.

No one else wants to giggle at the idiocy?:suspicious::eek:

Oh, yeah, I am a great supporter of spirituality. To me, many of the people that define themselves as spiritual really understand the whole point of faith. Too many people get bogged down in the fight over whose denomination is superior or whose denomination is better serving God, instead of understanding what the whole point of having faith is. They forget that they are all serving the same God, and that it doesn't matter who has the larger church or bigger coffers.

It still amazes me that people can look at this vitriol and say that we brought it on ourselves, or that we are worse than him. To me, that shows they have to empathy at all and no idea of how words affect people. Are we supposed to just sit and listen to this crap and not respond? Some people think so. Apparently, some people also think we should be apologizing to Ron, as well, even when he continues to berate us.

You remember correctly. Religion is just one of those things where belief doesn't make sense to me. I can understand and support other people believing in it, but it never sat (set? hmmm) right with me. Other people would talk about "the space that religion fills" or "feeling like a part of you is missing", and I never got that. I don't have any empty spaces or feel incomplete. To me, modern religion is about as believable as the Greek or Egyptian mythologies. It's a great story, but to base your whole existance on it? Other people may be able to do that (and I support their choice whole-heartedly), but I can't. Literally, "can't," not "won't."

By the way, does anyone else think it is sort of funny that Ron is lumping the Catholic Church in with the "liberal denominations" (AKA, the ones who are all going to hell, according to him)? I have never heard ANYONE claim that the Catholic Church was liberal before.

Welcome, CJ! Believe me, it's nice to get new people in this thread. A lot of us really appreciate your posting.

Ron, damn it, you even responded to my post where I did own up to it.

I feel like dancing! I was kind of bummed because I was supposed to be busy all weekend doing stream sampling (getting wet in a stream while looking for aquatic bugs, basically) for my analysis of aquatic ecosystems class, but I just got an email from the professor saying that it was canceled. We got a ton of hard rain yesterday, so apparently the streams are too high to do any sampling. This is wonderful, especially since it is supposed to be cold and snowy tomorrow!:clap2:

That's my entire problem with it, also. If entire Christian denominations disagree about which passages to take literally, how can one man say he is absolutely right in his interpretation? That's one of the major sticking points I have in regards to Christianity in general, actually. All the denominations say they have the right interpretation and that all the others are wrong. So who's right? They all defend their interpretation by saying that the Bible tells them that they are doing and saying the right things. To say that you (generic "you", not anyone in particular) have the right interpretation and everyone else is ignorant and going to hell smacks of arrogance and blindness. *shrugs*

anyone familar with medical grade superglue?

Let it wear off on its own. -
You never said it outright, but you did imply it.
-
Ron, don't you remember, way back on the first page of this thread, implying that atheists were uneducated and wishy-washy about their beliefs? THAT is what started this whole mess. So yeah, YOU started it. I would have to agree with this first statement I have quoted, that while two wrongs don't make a right, there WAS provoking.
-
You did a few minutes ago, but not in the rest of the posts you've made in this thread. You've accused us several times of attacking the conservative Christian, yet you never mentioned the attacks the conservative Christians made against us.
-
I thought it was pretty obvious that "jumps off" was in reference to leaving the discussion. Where's the attack in that?
-
But you seem to be scolding only us, and not Ron. This would come across as true if you had ever said a word against him. Every single time that I have seen you jump into this thread, you've scolded us for attacking Ron, but you've never scolded Ron for attacking us.

Removing my former message, because I don't want to be accused of being "unsupportive". But really, this is getting funny.
