  2. Hey yes I am excited but nervous. I hope it works for me! I have another appointment on Wednesday, I get a nutrition, sleep doctor, and stress test all in the same day.

  3. hi i read one of your messages to indio girl and i saw what you said about potato chips. i am not banded yet - i will be next month but i was in my cubicle at work yesterday and i was eating potato chips and i was thinking to myself how easy it will be to get these chips to pass through the band and it scared me. i could envision myself cheating with them. please let me know how you are now... my name is kelly.

  4. hey girl hows it going?

    NA'ers?

Hi Debbie, ya same with me. I am not sharing about it. My sponsor, my grandsponsor, boyfriend (who is program) and my parents know and that is it. My sponsor will hold my pain medication that way I am not in control of it. I will have two years clean this saturday on the 10th! I live in Simi Valley. I am getting excited and nervous for the surgery. I should be banded in February. Yay! So when you say you are getting back on track what do you mean... did you get another fill? How often do you fill? Do you attend any support groups? Who banded you?
  7. Hi, where are you in Cali? I read your post about not telling everyone. I feel the same way. I told my boyfriend, mom and dad, and boss. Thats it! Good luck with your surgery. I should be going mid February. I cant wait.

To tell or not to tell?!?

I have told my immediate family, my boyfriend, any my boss and that's it. People are too judgemental and if I don't lose according to their standards, I don't want to hear about it. I just told an immediate support group. I can always tell people later if I chose too.
  9. Hi Kareen... my name is Kelly and I am from LA. I am getting banded in February.... any advice for beforehand?

    NA'ers?

Hi Debbie thanks for responding. How is the band working for you? How did you handle the pain medication and how did you handle it with your meetings (as in sharing about it?) How long do you have clean?

    NA'ers?

Hi my name is Kelly and I am an addict from SO CAL. SO happy to see a post from NA members. SO cool. Doesnt look like there are any recent posts from anyone but hopefully someone will see this and get back to me. I will be getting banded in February.
  12. So I finally found a surgeon who is in my network. I scheduled an appointment to meet him in December. I attended his seminar last month. What will happen at this first appointment and what will happen after? How long will I have to wait until my surgery?
  13. Yeah good point about being honest about it. My appointment is friday and i am excited and nervous. :cursing:. Looking back on the scheme of things... the past six months have gone by pretty quickly so i can wait another six months...although i want it right now! do you have any kids? i have a three year old little girl. are you in school?
  14. Hi Greeneyed Lady. Looks like you have a plan... Good for you. It will all be worth it... just the waiting SUCKS!
  15. Ok ya I am young too... 26... and totally healthy except for my weight. I have no other problems whatsoever. Its just that I have been fat my whole life and on and off diets for my whole life. I wish I had the funds to just go and pay cash. A girlfriend of mine did it a year ago and she looks soooo good. I am soooo jealous! Where you from? what do you mean they have to get the wording just right? do you have any suggestions about what i should say in that big packet that they gave me? someone was telling me that i should say i have sleep apnea.
  16. oh crap so i was thinking that once i got my ppo that it would be a breeze from here... i work for medical billing too! but i bill private workers comp insurance companies not group. so do you have sleep apnea or any morbid conditions?
  17. Do you have HMO or PPO? I hope that I don't have to go on a six month waiting period. I have been waiting 7 months to get my PPO because my HMO kept turning me down...

    the last supper

Wow... I am feeling for you. That is going to take some will power. Good luck to you! You can do it though. It is going to be SO SO SO worth it. Keep you chin up! I just found a surgeon who is in my network and I attended his seminar and I scheduled my first appointment with him. Can you tell me what I should expect for my first appointment? What happens after that? How long do you think it will be before I get the surgery? Thanks, Kelly
  19. Hi I am desperately trying to find a surgeon who is In-Network for an Anthem Blue Cross Ca PPO. I live in Ventura County but am willing to travel to the San Fernando Valley if necessary. I can not seem to find a contracted doctor. Blue Cross gave me a list of 30 some odd doctors and I have called 19 so far and have had no luck finding a doctor. Can anyone help me? Oh and Dr. Paya is not In-Network. I had to cancel my appointment.
  20. OH wow CONGRATS!!! that is SO cool! Good luck! Would you mind telling me your process? First I attended the seminar, then I just called and they sent me the info packet, and my first appt is Dec 5th. Can you give me an idea of what to expect at that appointment and what you did before and after? How many appoinments did have after that first visit and how long did you have to wait for the actual surgery? I have no idea what I am going to have to do.
  21. Hey thanks! I actually attended one of his seminars a few months ago and spoke with their office last week. I have an appointment December 5th and am filling out a long packet that I have to turn in. Did you use him?
  22. Hi I have had a HMO for the past two years and have tried to get referred for the Lap Band three times and have been denied every time. I just finally filled out the paperwork at work to switch to the PPO. My doctor said as soon as I get my PPO finalized, that I can call her and she will will write me a prescription for the Lap Band. Now that seems so easy. I have had almost a year of discouragement with trying to get the Lap Band. Does anyone know what my process should be once I get the PPO? Anyone know of any doctors in Ventura County or San Fernando Valley? Thanks!

Anthem Blue Cross PPO in Ca

So what is this nutrition consultation? Was that from the lap band doctor? Did you see your primary care physician at any point in this process? You are so lucky! I will keep you posted as I find out more. Good luck... when do you think you will have your surgery? Oh and I noticed you said called and got the pre auth for the visit. Do I need to do that too? I have no idea what I am doing ha ha ha. My doctor wrote me a prescription and so I just started calling doctors.

Anthem Blue Cross PPO in Ca

Hi... how did you find a preferred surgeon? My work said my PPO was effective as of November 1st but Blue Cross said it still hasn't been processed yet. I am so nervous because with my HMO I got denied THREE times and they kept telling me switch to a PPO... but now I am just sure something will go wrong. My insurance says that I have to pay 20% of everything up to $3000. After that they will pay everything at 100%. So I am planning on financing it at this point. I am 26 and am ready to put on a skirt for once. Let me know how it goes... what was your process?
  25. Hi my name is Kelly and I am 26 years old. I live in Simi Valley, CA and I have been trying to get approved for the Lap Band for almost a year. I have been denied three times with my HMO so I just switched at open enrollment to a PPO. I am not sure what my next steps should be once Anthem Blue Cross switches me over to PPO. My doctor said that as soon as I get the PPO to call her and she will write me a prescription. It is that easy with the PPO. I am wondering though because I have heard stories that it is still difficult to find a doctor. Anyone know of any near where I am at that accept Anthem Blue Cross? What should I do next and how much out of pocket is it?
