I was extremely satisfied with my lap-band results. I did not get discouraged with all the complications I read about because I knew that the people that were successful (like myself) were busy going on with their lives and did not continue coming back to tell everyone how happy they are but the people who had problems were staying on to vent and find support. In addition, life weighing 300 lbs is not complication free either and I was so happy that the weight has come off (it took a year and a half to come off). My shortcoming though is that I did not take the time to go to my doctor for follow ups and now I did my first xray in almost three years and discovered a slippage. They took all my fluid out and am going back next week to see if it selr corrected (which I doubt it did). If it is not better, I will schedule to do surgery to fix the position. These six weeks without restriction proved to me that I need the band (I gained 20 lbs even though I vowed to work on maintaining my weight and do not have emotional / psychological problems). I remain the same person with no self control in my eating habits and need the tool. I can't wait to get my band back!
