  1. hi lizardgirl! I had my consultation with my dr. today and he told me that I'll only have to do 2-3 days of liquid diet prior to surgery, so I guess they have a couple of different ways of doing things! I'm going to take that as an extra blessing of making things easier for me and I'm confident in my doctor because of the research and recommendations I went through. Anyway, I have my pre-op nutritional talk with a nutritionist on wednesday the 10th, gastro meeting the 11th, and endoscopy the 12th, friday morning. next week i'm going to get my exact surgery date - some lucky day in January - I CAN'T WAIT!!! best luck to all of you january bandsters out there! Can't wait to cheer you on!!
  2. Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question! I am so very grateful. You see, 2 friends from my community recommended this doctor, but when I was searching online and on this site, there was hardly any mention of his name and I got a bit worried. Actually I have oxford freedom insurance which is easier. I have an apt with a psychiatrist now wednesday the 19th and my pcp is writing my letter of necessity as well as my three month diet history. That's all that my insurance requires. I'm meeting with dr. pomp 12/8 and my only worry is that he should schedule me shortly after! I've been on a diet half my life and once I decided I'm going for the surgery, I want it now!! my husband did speak with someone at a referral agency and they did tell him that dr. pomp is top and if I can get to him with my coverage I should look noplace else. I spoke with lots of people who've been through this and am reading online too, so I pretty much know what I'm in for - I'm not fooling myself into thinking that it's easy -but I want to do it and I'll give it my best. THanks again, it really means a lot to me to hear that the staff and office is nice and that people out there are using this doctor, and who knows? maybe I'll meet you in the recovery room!! Good luck with your apts and precertification. I'll be glad to keep you posted if I get there first!! All the best, A positive attitude will help us get through this!

    2009 Bandsters?

I'll be joining you 09 bandsters but not sure when. I have an apt. with Dr. Pomp (surgeon) December 8, but I'm so excited about the surgery that I'd love to do it tomorrow. I know I have couple of months ahead, but insurance is fine and I'm going to call the dr. office if I can schedule the other appointments needed now for later in dec, instead of waiting weeks then. wonder if they'll let me do that b/4 the consultation. I spent so many months researching and learning, that once I made up my mind to go ahead, this waiting is driving me nuts! Btw, anyone heard of / used Dr. Pomp, in NY? I'd love to hear about experiences / his reputation... thanks and good luck to all of yous!:rolleyes2:

    Nyc?

Hi! My name is Rachel and I'm new to this forum. I actually made up my mind to go for the lap band but still need to decide on a doctor. Has anyone used Dr. Pomp? I need to decide btw. him and Dr Ren or Dr Fielding. I see lots of people use Drs Ren and Fielding. I've gotten some great recommendations on Dr Pomp - anyone out there been banded by him? Can you share your experience please? thanks:thumbup:
