Did anyone lose weight with the 1st fill?

CONGRATS on your 1st fill. Restriction will come, as previously stated everyone is so different. I had my first and only fill January 09 (2.4cc) and lost 45 lbs. I just went today for my 2nd fill because I have not really been restricted over the past 2 months. I actually ate way more than what I usually eat over the past 2 months but I didn't gain any weight or lose any weight. So with this 2nd fill I anticipate losting the remaining 35 lbs. Good luck!!
  5. I was the same way after getting my first fill January 10th. I could eat a good lunch but around 6 my band tightened and the same type of foods that went down around 1 would not go down with ease and I ended up PB. Instead of getting an unfill, I just ate more early during the day and drunk a Protein drink for dinner. I'm really glad I didn't get an unfill because a month later, I've noticed that that restriction I initially had is no longer there, so I will need a fill really soon.

    Do you miss fast food?

Hi, Shelly, I was a fast food addict and wondered the same thing as you before being banded December 5. I attempted to eat hamburger since my surgery and it was unsuccessful. I have discovered that I cannot tolerate fast foods. As SunnyRachel said, KFC works best for me if I'm out. I honestly do not desire fast food anymore and am content to stick with fish (cod fillets are my favorite) and chicken thigh. I love my band amd the way it has helped discipline my food choices. I still eat some sweets in moderation, but my weight is dropping. Good luck.

List the BENEFITS of low-carbing PLEASE

I have Lupus, so I initially began low carbing at the advice of my doctor to see if it would positively impact my health. I began low carbing right before my lap band surgery December 5. Let me be the first to say, removing most sugars (I still eat a small amount every now and then), flour, breads, pastas, sweets improved my health 100%. I also incorporated a liquid Multivitamin (Nature's Source of Life) into my daily regimen. I no longer break out with hives and other skin conditions associated with Lupus like I used to. I no longer experience extreme fatigue like I used to. The fevers, pain in my joints, etc. have all decreased so that I have not missed any days of work in 2 months. I would usually miss 2 -3 days of work a month. My weight has dropped. I tend to eat around 40 carbs a day because limiting myself to no carbs is pointless. I have discovered if I can create a daily diet regimen that I can stick to over a lifetime, then I won't gain it back. Since December 5, I have lost 17 lbs. I need to update my ticker below. I feel GREAT! I discovered that certain foods fill me up. I eat primarily fish and chicken. Cod fillets fill me up the most though and steamed broccoli. So, I stick with what works. I am positive I will meet my goal by June.
  8. Hi Lebeed, I too was anxious prior to being banded on December 5, 2008 in Mexico. Having read several people's experiences before having the surgery helped prepare me for after the surgery. The surgery itself was an experience - no complications, but during the 2 weeks of pure liquids, I mentally felt I had made the wrong decision. Not feeling well, excessive pain from gas, etc., all cause you to mentally question the decision. Support, support, support is key to combatting this. My friend who went with me and had the surgery also has been paramount in helping me through that phase. Although I haven't had a fill and can literally eat most things, I know getting the band was a good decision and I am excited.
  9. Hi, I empathize with you. I was banded December 5. I had your same symptoms for 2 weeks straight. Additionally, my stomach was in so much pain. Part of that I'm sure was excess gas. However, you must know your own body. I knew that I needed to get some solid food in my stomach for the pain to stop so that is exactly what I did. After 2 weeks of liquids, etc., I ate some soft vegetables and some fish. That did the trick. Those flu like symptoms diminished and I have continued to eat that way since. I haven't gained weight, but the loss is slow. Nonetheless, I do feel good with the way I'm eating. Good luck on your journey.
