The same thing happen to me. When I went for my consult with the surgeon I also told him I wanted a Lap band. The day after my surgery when I was leaving the hospital they gave my a card with the # of my realize band. I said to my husband it must be a mistake but I also said it was to late to do anything about it. When I went for my follow up appointment I did not see my surgeon because he was on vacation and the dr I saw really did not know what to say. He said they only use Lap band if you request it, I said I did. He was not sure what to say next. To make a long story short, everything has worked out great and I'm very happy with my realize band. I'm sure you will be fine, but I no it can be shocking at first. Good Luck!!

how much can u eat now???
dbeers replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my dr two weeks ago and it was the first time since I had my surgery that I did not lose a lot of weight. I only lost 1 lb in 2 months. Well she made me feel like I gained 20lbs. I knew they were going to tell me I needed a fill, but I'm going to Punta Cana in Aug and I'm afraid I might get sick and have to throw up, from the food and water. I have not had to throw up since having my surgery. I could not believe she told me I should get a fill now and have it taken out before I go on vacation. I thought "ARE YOU CRAZY". I feel great, can eat almost anything and get very little heartburn. I have only had one fill and I had problems for months after it, terrible burning and pain on my right shoulder. I have also read many posts about people that get filled, unfilled, filled, unfilled and have many problems. I told the dr, no fill and I will wait till my next visit. She said ok, see you in 2 months, I said no 3 months. I'm happy and taking control!! -
Lost Morivation! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
dbeers replied to mila86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat as you! I lost 102 lbs and was doing great. The last 2 months I can't seem to get back on track. I go up and down the same 2 lbs. I have to go back to the dr in a week and I know I have not lost any weight since the last time I was there. I want to get to my goal but I keep making the wrong food choices. I tell myself each day I will start new and then I mess up by eating something I should not. I don't exercise has much has I did before and I push myself to do a little a few times a week. I hope someone gives you a answer and it can help both of us. -
No weight loss in over 2 months : (
dbeers replied to Nonoma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 3/4/09 and every time my weight lose stopped it was because I was eating more and the wrong things. Sometimes its the little things that you might not think about. With me it is more snacking and eating sweets. I did not lose any weight in over a month, but I also ate cheesecake, not sugarfree candy and bread. I was still working out so I thought it was ok to eat more. I was wrong because I gained 3 lbs back. Last week I started back on track and this morning I was down 4lbs. This is a new way of life for me and I have to stick to it. I know there will be ups and downs but I do not want to end up at 289 every again. -
I'm so happy, because this morning when I weighed myself the scale finally moved and I have now lost 100lbs since I started this journey. I also went to see my lap band dr today and they told me I'm doing great and keep up the good work. The scale has not moved in weeks and it was really getting me down. I'm so happy and now I know I will reach my goal!!!

Help! Having MAJOR second thoughts....
dbeers replied to Tracytma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had to do many things before I had my surgery. Go to 6 months of classes, group meetings & ect. I think the whole time I was doing that I never really thought it would happen, because I was turned down a few years before. I remember when they told me my surgery would be 3/4/09 and I was scared and unsure if I really wanted to do this. The night before my surgery I cried all night thinking maybe I should change my mind. I will tell you this is one of the best things I ever did for myself. It is not easy and takes lots of work, but I feel great. Everyone has second thoughts and no one knows what will happen in the future but you will succeed if you work hard and follow the rules I wish you the best of luck and hope you decide to get a band, I don't think you will be sorry. -
I want to thank everyone for all your kind words. Getting the band was one of the best things I ever did for myself. It was the thing I needed to jump start myself to getting in better shape. I now work out 25-30 minutes, 5/6 times a week. I also now make much smarter food choices. I don't eat bread, potato's or sweets. When I was at the dr this week, we talked about even with the band how hard it is to stay on track. I said I think it it 50% band and 50% will power. She said "No" it takes more will power and I think she was right. Thanks Again

I'm in the same boat as you and I feel so down because I keep going up 2lbs and down 2lbs. I have not lost anything in weeks. I also lost weight great the first 9 months, but the last few have really slowed down. I was hoping to be at 189 by my 1 year date, but I've been the same weight for weeks. I have been eating healthy and working out everyday and still no weight loss. I hope my scale moves soon because it is very hard to keep on track. Best of luck to both of us!!

I had a moment today!
dbeers replied to NewYearNewMe2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wearing a size 26 before my surgery. I remember I did'nt buy any new dress pants for work, because I just kept sewing my old ones in. When I had to go shopping to buy a new pair of jeans, I did not no what size to try on. I started with a 20 which were a little big, so I got a 18. I started to laugh and talk out loud "Oh my God, they fit", then I got tears in my eyes. When I went home and told my kids, they said people in the dressing room must of thought I was crazy. I said I did not care, I fit in a size 18 jeans. I recently got a sz 14 and it still feels great when a smaller size fits. Good luck to you and many more smaller clothes. -

dbeers replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just finished the Valentine challenge, so I would like to join the Easter. It helps me to keep on track, when I have to check in every week. I would like to lose 17lbs by then, that would put me at 180. -
Valentine Day Challenge?
dbeers replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 1lb this week, I did not make my goal of of 16 lbs. I did lose a total of 8lbs. -
I had my surgery 3/4/09 and my hair finally stopped falling out around 8 months. It started at 2 months and every time I washed my hair I would have to clean the drain because of the amount of hair I lost. I was scared because it was getting thinner and thinner. It did slow down around 8 months and by 9 months I only noticed a few hairs falling out when I washed it. I have noticed the last few months that my hair grows faster now then it ever did. It is also getting thicker. It will stop, but I feel your pain!

I lost 3 lbs this week and also I went under 200 for the first time in over 25 years. -
I have a "Health o Meter" for almost a year and it works great. I got it a Walmart and it cost around $40. It had many good reviews so that is why I got it. It measures weight, body fat, water and goal weight, and you can set it for 4 people. I love it and every time myself or my husband have gone to the dr it has been right on. Check out walmart's web site, I had it shipped right to the store (I checked and they still have it $34.88 - 42 reviews)

Plateau - trying not to get discouraged
dbeers replied to 20zmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/4/09 and I lost weight almost every week until about a month ago. I knew over christmas I was eating junk and sweets so I was happy I did not gain. Then after the holiday I thought I would start losing again but I did'nt. So last week I started exercising twice as much and getting back on track with my eating habits and it worked - 2lbs this week. I had to keep telling myself, "you can do it, you can do it". I knew I was eating to much and making wrong food choices. -

6mo supervised weight loss - how much did you lose?
dbeers replied to LuuLuu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to also do a 6 months supervised diet plan. I started at 289 first visit (290 2nd visit) and was 283 at 6 month class. They told me as long as I did not gain weight, I would not have a problem with my insurance has long has I do everything they required. They were right because I was approved no problem. -
