How much should I really expect to lose?

Hi Geralyng, I don't do statistics very well because I believe everyone and situation is different. Statistics pull into account, band removals, complications and failed banded patients as well. You can expect to reach whatever goal you have and the reality of it is whatever you make it to be. I will hit goal, with or without the band, so far I've lost 45lbs this morning and it's 7 weeks post op. I won't say it's all the band, but a majority of it is following the rules and exercising daily. I can be 100% successful in reaching my goal weight because I am putting my mind to it.

Where did I go? Who am I now?

I'm here! I didn't go anywhere, I'm just reborn. I'm the same person, just more confident, more happy. I am not having a difficult time at all. I find myself looking sideways in the mirror 50 times per day. I am not scared of what's to come. I welcome everything.

  6. speaking of discharge... I've got this weird discharge coming from my right nostral. It's rather annoying and I don't think it's band related but I've tried everything and nothing works. It's just a leaker. Tricia? Your take on this?
  7. Hahaha! This was a good one! It made me laugh. I'm sick that way.

    Exercise question

Wow! What Jachut said! Working out, i.e., biking, running/walking/jogging and other home exercises has now become a major part of my DAILY routine that I no longer look at it as an obligation, task or burden. I just don't feel right if I don't do something that gets me sweating buckets. If I eat something with 200 calories, I know in my mind that I need to ensure I burn 200 calories+. Since I know my body burns calories without my asking it to, putting in hours into my workout is a bonus. I am drinking at least 1 shake per day and having yogurt for lunch or tuna, chicken salad and then for dinner either a shake or a real nice 3 course dinner, depending on my hunger. I am putting in about 5 - 6 meals per day, I consider a snack a meal (light dannon yogurt drinks). Working out - well there was a week where I worked out religously and drank my shakes (was still on liquids at the time) and I didn't lose anything. I wasn't sure if it was the chicken broth but I do know that the broth contained 800mg of sodium and I was drinking about 64fl oz to 1 gallon of Water and my body was just holding onto something, I don't know what but too much sodium is not good so you may want to check your sodium intake. I know that 1 gallon of water = 8lbs and if no exertion occurs, my body will go into "camel" mode. Since I know the rules fairly well as far as eating with the band, the weight loss is consistent.

    I can't stop!!!!

I have to tell you guys, the thought of getting a fill freaks me the hell out. I feel sorry for you Marie. I'm sure the doctor will troubleshoot and figure something out. It's not good to not be able to eat anything but junk, (not zoning in on your selection, because I am pretty sure you know what's good to eat and what's not) but I know personally that cheetos kinda melt in your mouth and so it's easy to swallow, (my daughter and husband are extremely addicted to cheetos.) I hope you get help from the doc really soon if you are uncomfortable with your fill. However.... isn't a fill suppose to work this way? Tell me if I am wrong but I just thought that maybe this is how the band is supposed to work. Restricting soo much that you don't overeat and underchew.

GeezerSue???? Stop that! You are NOT hopeless! That's it! Someone throw me the rope, I wanna try something innovative. Broccoli, fish............ Prednisone - Methylprednisone? That's a steroid right? It's the same as Depo-medrol. If so, hon, the side effects are monsterous, to include ramming the fridge like a bull! Don't kick yourself for that. Can you take anything else?
