Terri, Congratulations you!!!! You did excellent! Your feet are NOT ugly, in fact, I think you have cute toes Big huggles! -
......*lips trembling* I'll be thinking of you Amy. Remember chica, no burritos..nacho's margaritas... etc., right before surgery. That's not gonna be good for you. You'll have the worst gas pains in the history of gas if you do. Mexican food gives me gas anyway so imagine right before band surgery. Mira chica, Requerdas..no mal comida ......y, que tengas exito....

Oh gosh Mel, This just freaks me out. I can't even imagine feeling like that and trying to live with it. I'm really thinking about getting a fill but it's just a scary place for me. I hope you are ok and will continue to be ok. Wish I could hug you. Where are you again in Florida? Would love to meet up with you guys. I'll drive :girl_hug:

There are advantages to exercising for 45 minutes v/s 20 minutes and at the pace in which you exercise. If you walk really slow for 45 minutes, sure you may burn a few calories but if you walked for 45 minutes at 65% above resting heart rate, you will burn ALOT of calories, at the same time condition your body and challenge your heart. There are too many advantages to name here but the previous articles I posted should tell you the reasons why.

OMG!!!! 7mph is crazy!!! I've done 7mph a few times, only for 1 minute at a time b/c I'm so short and my legs look like a blurr when im doing that pace. It feels good but shit hurts like hell! You are awesome! You did 6 miles the other day too! That's freakin great!

OOOOhhh Amy! Yay for Amy! Hoooray for Amy!! I'm so excited for her. She's going to do so well. She already knows as much about the band as we banded folk do. She'll do superb and I know she's going to take some Malox plus Praying for Amy!

Trizzy..yes, last year in fact. Cypress Gardens, some mini rollercoaster. I couldn't get in and push the bar over my lap. My belly was in the way and my in-laws were waiting for me to get in. I was holding up the ride. I was so angry, so embarrassed, so humiliated..I vowed to never enter another roller coaster ride until I was under 150lbs. I never want to feel those eyes on me in that same way again. It's a very intense feeling. Another bad thing was I didn't want to ride anything with my lil girl but my mother in law insisted that I did. :grouphug: Almost felt like she wanted me to humiliate myself so that I could see how fat I really was. They kept pressuring me so finally I got in some tea cup ride with my lil girl. All I can say is I almost pulverized her. My body kept moving in sync with the gravity and pushing me into my daughter and I could say I would have really hurt her with this weight on her. Never again!

Yeyyyyaaaaahhh, OOOOoo KKKKK! I will bike today..22.5-23 miles as I did yesterday and maybe jog on my home treadmill. I don't feel like heading to the gym today.
-
Funny, You are my latest hero. You have just dipped in the scales..drastically and I'm so proud of you. You've done extremely well to not be banded yet. You are about to become a bandster and I'm excited about that. I have not bought new clothes yet (cept for gym clothes). I will wait to go shopping but my clothes are extremely baggy and they are falling off, exposing my grandma panties :grouphug: What weight do you wish to reach before you buy new clothes, so we can go on a shopping spree. What-a-ya say?

Thank you Funny :grouphug:  Thank you thank you thank you! I worked my ass off and made it an all day event. I want to do the same today to see how far I can push it..but i'll behave today. I'll just either bike or head off to the gym. I got more than 5lbs off yesterday I believe but I ate like a pig and drank almost a gallon ..and still showed a 5lb loss. I was astonished. I jogged/walked/ran 4 miles with intentions to run 12 miles (didn't happen) I biked 22.5 - 23 miles in the evening I assure if anyone did this, you'd drop 5-10lbs too! I was behind in my goal setting of losing 21lbs per month since I started. I think last month I only lost 10 - 11lbs. I've got 44lbs left, I got 22lbs per month to hit. 22 for July and 22 for August. If I can do this..I'll be at goal in late August - early Sept. Actually, Sept. 11th is 5 months post op for me. Can I do this? I would be velly velly happy!

C-179 (-61 total, -5) whooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo! GOOOO BIKING AND JOGGING ALL IN THE SAME DAY!!!!
-
I had a blast today. I got my workout on, got my grub on and even got my fireworks on
-
I ran 4 miles today in the hot hot Florida sun. I biked 22.50-23 miles in the not so hot Florida sun, it cooled down. I biked to my mother-in-laws for the Bar-B-Que and then biked back. Ipod died on me about 2 miles from my home . Lost 5lbs today!!!! Water weight I do believe, but I'll take it. Can you believe that I lost 5lbs? I weighed myself after I ate a chicken breast and salad and drank 4 bottles of water, still lost 5lbs. If I hadn't eaten and not drank and weighed in, I think I'd of lost 8 - 9lbs in 1 day. That just blows my mind.... (headache now, going to get tylenol). Have a great night folks.
-
Just got back you guys and I have to say, I'm disappointed, we only did 4 miles and got overheated. This Florida sun sucks!
-
God Bless the U.S.A.!!!! As a part of the celebration for the 4th of July, I am about to undertake, with a friend, a 11.5 - 12 mile, walk, jog and run. We leave at 10AM. Then after, we will replenish with a nice finish up at Mother-in-laws (in route) to a nice bar-b-que, fireworks. WHOOO HOOOO. Get your ass's in gear. Don't eat too much and don't undo what you've worked soo hard to do people.

I don't always trust everything I hear or have been told. Have you spoken with your doctor or several doctors about weight training..(over 50lbs to lose), or several personal trainers? I for one did start intensive cardio training in late March. Only 3-4 weeks ago did I start weight training/circuit training and I am ..according to my BMI based on my height, I am supposed to be 115lbs - 130lbs max to be Normal weight. Therefore I am 54lbs out.. Weight training is ideal to me because of my goals. (Body Composition). I was worried that if I started weight lifting, I would build muscle on top of fat, making me look like a fat muscular person and I didn't want that. My trainer and a few online I've spoken to let me know that this would never happen. The muscle will continue to burn the fat off of me through weight training.

Space, talking about fat space v/s muscle space, see below http://www.therealessentials.com/lean.html The Best Way to Burn Fat The best way to permanently shed unwanted flab is through a combination of moderate exercise, weight training, and proper diet. There are three reasons why exercising and weight training work to slenderize the body: 1. By adding muscle, you permanently raise your metabolic rate, since muscle burns 25 times more calories than fat. Muscle is active tissue that continually consumes energy - even while resting or sleeping. In contrast, fat is inert and requires little energy to maintain. 2. When you convert fat to muscle, you automatically slenderize yourself because muscle takes up less space than the same weight of fat. 3. Studies have shown that people with more muscles are more energetic. This encourages them to be more active and do more exercising. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle of fat-burning. Because muscle weighs more than fat, this means that you might not lose weight if you convert fat into muscle. In fact, many people gain weight after starting a weight-loss program even though they look leaner. This can be very disconcerting to people who are conditioned to associating leaner bodies with less weight. If they stick with their weight training, they will begin to lose weight eventually. However, this is not the real goal. A true slenderizing program is designed to make the body leaner, regardless of what you weigh afterwards. Why Weight Training Works Resistance training generates one of the largest rises in growth hormone of any exercise according to a study conducted by Borst et al. in 1994. These researchers found that the activity of lifting weights at just 70 percent of lifting capacity resulted in a tripling of growth hormone levels. Nothing can pare away fat, add muscle, and reverse the signs of aging better than growth hormone - a key hormone that steadily declines as we grow older. In a l990 New England Journal of Medicine study, Daniel Rudman, M.D., showed that growth hormone supplementation increased lean body mass by 8.8 percent while reducing fat deposits by 14.4 percent. Other studies have demonstrated similar results, showing that higher levels of growth hormone in older people can both rev up metabolism and literally resculpt the body, paring away fat as lean muscle tissue is added (Salomon et al., 1989). Walking Aside from weight training, aerobic exercises, like walking or bicycling, are the next best exercise to pare fat and improve health. According to Hippocrates, the ancient Greek patron of medicine, you have two doctors: your right leg and your left leg. He prescribed walking as a universal remedy for all mental and physical conditions. Light walking (at 60 percent of maximum heart rate) is one of the simplest and easiest exercises to improve health, condition the body, and burn calories. Not only does walking carry the least risk of injury of any aerobic exercise, but it also does not require any special training or equipment. According to Marian Minor, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Missouri School of Health, "Walking is probably the most efficient way to burn calories for weight loss." Research conducted at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis showed that walking a 15-minute mile burns almost as many calories as jogging or running, but without the wear and tear on tissues, joints, and organs. "At 5 mph, walkers' hearts beat harder than runners,'" states Wendy Kohrt, Ph.D. Uphill walking can accelerate calorie burning and improvement in physical condition and can also result in better conditioning than running. Start by walking for 20 to 30 minutes 3 times a week. Eventually, you should build up to a 30 to 40 minute walk every day. Ideally, you should be able to walk a mile in 15 minutes. In fact, walking three miles in 45 minutes provides better cardiovascular conditioning than running one mile in six minutes

Your personal trainer told you to hold off on weights??? That's just weird. I've spoken to quite a few and they all say go for the weights. I have been weight training for weeks now and I'm still losing weight.
