BMI Index Analysis Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 31, you are currently classed as moderately overweight. A healthy BMI for your gender and age is between 20 and 25 and a reasonable weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds a week. DUDES!! I'M NOT OBESE ANYMORE! OH MY LORD!:clap2: :clap2:

OOH Funny, careful on the refried beans. There's like 800 mg of sodium per cup of the beans and can really make you retain water. LOTS!

EmileeKaye, TriciaK, Funnyduddies, MoOrLess, You guys make me happiest today. Thank you for being here for me. Everyone in this club that is. I am going through a bit of self-ism right now. It's all overwhelming, this whole weight loss thing. With every pound gone..some part of me leaves too. I can't begin to explain it. Just glad to have real online friends __________________________ MysHerr.... Below 800 calories per day is considered starvation. I realize you are drinking most of your calories right now because you have to and frankly, trying to get in anything more than 600 calories through liquids is really hard to do. (I stayed on liquids for 5 ). However, once a body feels it's starving, it will begin to store. I know that you cannot do too much strenuous work or exercise but keep on moving and as Funny said, this is not a time to focus on weight loss but a time to heal and recover. I always like to give this imagery, some of you have read it numerous times already but here it is again: Your body is a constantly working machine, constantly needing fuel. In order to burn, you need fuel right? If you take in 400 calories per day, your fuel burning/calorie burning (metabolism) will slow to turtle speed. You HAVE to get in those calories so your body does not think it's starving. You have to correct your metabolism by eating right and getting in your minimum calories per day as well as exert. What you take in, you should burn it out. In order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. Treat your body as a Train. Trains need coal to run. When you begin to exercise, you will eat more because your body demands it. That is what I am struggling with now. I work out every single day now..(don't remember my last day off). I am always hungry. I eat/drink 6 meals a day. I am eating meat and drinking shakes every 2 hours, no lie! I'm still dropping weight in spurts with an occaisonal stall. Your body will need to adjust as you progress. But remember.. with eating and exercise, you'll drop the weight. I know you know this already. Just wanted to re-review or summarize what you already knew.

Girl..... :frusty: You know I need hugs. Lots and lots of hugs right now.

Well ...thanks guys but I think I am going out of my mind with this weight. I'm pushing for an August deadline because I was planning to meet my family then. They haven't seen me since all of my weight loss and I wanted to at least get near the goal weight I wanted. I surprise myself when I do go on the Saturday and Sunday excursions that have me losing 4 - 5lbs each time but, if not for those weekend days, I'd not be losing weight lately. The lifting is really toning me up but my appetite is animalistic.. as I said before. I just want to eat all day and all night. I DON'T eat all day and night but I really want to. A fill is still in order.

I count my 5lbs prior to surgery b/c when I realized I wanted to have the WLS is when I began to try to lose on my own. 2 weeks into it prior to surgery and I lost 8lbs in doing so, however I went on vacation 5 days before surgery and when I returned home, I had gained 3 of it back. The 5lbs I lost of the 240lbs was indeed a direct effort on my behalf to lose. I count it in. It should never be dismissed. Therefore at pre-ops, 235lbs was my "weigh in" number. Amy, I'm glad you are counting your 60+lbs lost prior to surgery. You are doing and will be doing great! I lost 4lbs today from my 6.5 - 7 (definately 6.5 but I think maybe more since I added an extra route home) and I'm going to count it in. 175lbs today, whoo hooo

Greatdame you rock girl! Your message counter inspired me. I remember when running just for 5 minutes really almost killed me. That was weeks ago. You are doing great and I'm estatic to read you are making a gym room at home. That's hot! I'd love to come check your bed and breakfast out and do the marathon or walk-a-thon. Details. I need details.

LOL Greatdame, I wish I had re-sell copyrights to these songs. But if you're into Hip Hop, R&B and Pop then this CD is for you. I mean, who would workout to classical music right? lol

I was never obese, but rather teetering from normal weight to slightly overweight. For my height, 145lbs is overweight by 10lbs. Growing up, I was the most active kid in the household. I played Field Hockey (Capt. of the team 4 years), Tennis (3rd string), Track and Field (shot put and 55 yard dasher- sprinter), Drill Team (J.R.O.T.C.), then swim team in college. I was in the best shape of my life, even after I had my son right after highschool graduation. Before I got pregnant with my son in 1994, my weight was in the 120's. I skyrocketed to 205lbs at my highest weight while carrying him. I lost all of my weight in 3 months, hitting the gym daily like clockwork. For years the weight stayed off, till 2001 when I got pregnant again. In 2002, after I had my second child, my weight shot up to a whopping 240lbs. That's almost gaining 100lbs during pregnancy. After she was born I began to lose weight and went down to 209lbs. Somehow, during the 4 years post delivery, I gained every single pound back up to the highest weight of 240. It's almost as if my body remembered the weight and just wanted to go back there. I think that the decision to have the lapband surgery hit me hard last December, after I turned the big 3 0. I realized that I could no longer say "I'm still in my twenties". I also realized that I could no longer use my daughters birth as an excuse to carry around the excess weight. I knew I needed to do something drastic, weight loss surgery was my only answer at the time. I began to research it. After 4 months of off and on interest in the lapband and gastric bypass surgery I contacted a bariatric surgeon's office. After the first conversation with the coordinator, I made a "Yes" decision. I took out a loan to pay for half of my surgery costs and forked out the rest of the $$ from my savings. My husband is paying for half of my bills for the remainder of the loan which is almost paid off. He's great! Currently I had my surgery April 11, 2006 in Monterrey, Mexico and since have lost 61lbs...59lbs...61lbs. It's been up and down a bit lately but all is well. The downside, which in turn may be a major positive thing later, is that I am losing my hair due to the surgery. I didn't know that hair loss was a side effect of losing weight so fast or hormonal imbalance. But I'm hopeful. I have received several PM's from members telling me that their family members or themselves have lost almost all of their hair after this surgery but have had unbelieve regrowth with full thickness (some thinner). I am taking in lots of Protein and Vitamins. I have an appt with a Dermatologist next week. Whether my hair comes back or not, I would do this again in a heartbeat.
