Hmmmm Barbara, good point. BJean you are right. Clinton was a great president, whether he ran it or not...he was indeed my kinda guy. A president for the people kinda guy. Though I am a minority..though I am partially African American decent and though I was very happy to see G. Wilder as the first elected Black Governor for Virginia...I will 100% vote Hillary in as a very capable, very upstanding American Citizen that could turn this country back around where it was when they left office, and better. Hillary 2008!
-
I will have to change my standing on which party i vote for when Hillary runs. I will be volunteering for her campaign. I will do everything one person can do to see she gets into office.
-
Exactly my point. That woman is a phenomenon. She's got it all. I truly believe she ran the entire office to include President Clinton the entire 2 terms he served. I believe she was the real president behind the president.
-
Speaking of women in politics I'd vote for Hillary Clinton should she run for President. I would love the Clintons back in office.

12 Yr old Girl has Liposuction to LOOSE WEIGHT !
Telly replied to coltonwade's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm upset about this surgery for this child. The anchorwoman repeatedly asked her family about Brooke's diet and exercise and the family did not state what all Brooke actually eats. They slipped up and said that Brooke knows what she can and cannot eat but that they don't watch her. *shock* and when the anchorwoman asked about exercise, they never once said she exercised, they just kept saying she's been on a diet since 3. But the real question is..what is her diet? Does she exercise? Lipo is not the answer to weight loss and maintenance, it's a sculpting tool for when you are happy with your weight but need to tweak your shape a bit. I am appalled that the parents allowed this to happen. -
I am sure all of you already know this, however I'll reiterate. This is how my weight came off...coupled with exercise. I don't eat greasy foods, no pastas or rice (small potato only), I do not eat sweets. I do not believe in deprivation however I believe in eating to live. Eat foods that are light and non-greasy. Eat organic. Eat fruits. Dairy is important as well. Complex carbs are better to consume. Lean meats only! 1 can of Albacore tuna is 6oz of Protein and it has approx 1.5 grams fat per serving, 2 in a can. salad dressing has soooooo much fat and carbs in it. Take a look before you pour it all over your healthy salad greens. Too much dressing may become a double cheeseburger. B- 8AM - Isopure shake S-10AM - Yogurt (light dannon yogurt drinks) L-12PM - 1/4 - 1/2 can of Albacore Tuna, 1 cup of Salad Greens, lime juice or light dressing (very light). S- 2PM - 1/2 of Grapefruit (any kind of fruit) D-4PM - 1oz of grilled chicken breast/tuna, 1/2 cup of broccoli, 1/4 cup of baked potato S-6PM-1/2 of Protein Shake or Protein Bar 64 - 128 fl oz of Water throughout the entire day Low fat, low carb foods in moderation, every few hours. 3 bites preferrably. 3bites with good restriction. If you are exercising and the weight isnt coming off (Tann in your case 5lbs is quite alot so please don't fret).....then you need to keep a food journal. With constant snacking, one could forget exactly how many ounces of "snack" foods they actually ate, wondering why they aren't losing. I know people think it's ridiculous to count calories but it has worked for quite a few of us banded folk here on lbt. If you exert 500-700 calories in the gym per day plus extra calories your body is already burning without doing anything special, say an additional 1000 calories...and you eat 1000 calories...guess what? You will lose weight. You lose because you burn more calories than you consume. Say you eat 1,500 calories and you have only burned 1,500 calories (basal) then you maintain. Say you eat 1,500 calories but you burn 1,000 calories....then you will gain. Very simple guide. If you look at body builders, they eat like horses. They eat good foods high in protein all day long. They eat but they burn it off right away. Keeps their metabolism in full force. Working out not only strengthens your metabolism but it helps promote all over physical fitness. Exercising Benefits: Burn calories, increase circulation, improve heart health and increase endurance. The same goes for any other cardiovascular activity such as running, walking, stair climbing, dancing and so on. Cardiovascular exercise is one of the best health insurance policies you will ever find. But despite its calorie-burning and heart-protecting benefits, its effect on weight loss is limited for many people, especially if it's not coupled with dietary change. Cardiovascular activity is great for preventing weight gain and great for weight management, but when used alone, it's not the perfect method for weight loss.

Sunshine, good questions there. If you are working out then you will naturally eat more. You are burning alot of calories and hence you will need to replenish. Yes, your doctor recommends 3 meals per day, up to 3oz per meal. However if you work out 2 hours per day, once in the morning and once at night, you will be burning burning burning all day. I ate 1-3oz per meal, up to 6 per day, that's sticking good food in your mouth every few hours, i.e., Protein shake, Protein Bar, fruit, salad, yogurts. Eating 6 meals per day is definately not following your doctors guided 3 meals per day. But they say that under the assumption that you aren't going to be extremely active. If you are active such as the 2 hour workouts per day then you adjust your eating. Adjustable Gastric Band - Adjustments (fills), adjustments of active lifestyle? Adjust your eating too.

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
Telly replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I met my husband when he was about 220lbs @ 5ft 8. He's not particularly tall and not average weight, he's a big guy, now he's 235lbs and I'm soo attracted to him anyway. He's considered morbidly obese but I don't care. Don't see it really. -

Karey, I have been working out, against my doctors orders. I walked 7 miles a few days ago and 6.5 the other day and cleaned my entire house yesterday. I am 4 weeks post op and I am ok to go. I love that I did it. I'd do it 100 times over.
-
I drove about 1 week and a half after the surgery, just to go to the post office. Awesome that you are going to see Dr. Romero. He looks like a Mexican Sean Connery, just very short. He was shorter than I am. I'm 5ft 3..last I checked...lol. He's very thorough with his questioning and recommendations. I wish you luck.

Hey I am still wearing the compression garment. I'm supposed to wear one for a few months for optimum results. I have to buy a new one b/c the one I have is too big now. The doc said that if i can slip an arm in it then it's time to rid of it and go to phase 2. I am still swollen. I am 4 weeks post op today. Swelling lasts for up to 1 year from what i understand but i have an extra binder that I put on top of the garment around my waist so the recovery is faster. Doc told me to do it. Thanks.

I am such a potato chip (Doritos, Salsa Flavor) Peanut butter - ice cream, candy or jar of this but I am just a big nut for peanut butter Since surgery I have been really good. I don't go around, eat or even shop in these aisles anymore. :clap2: Question too, are there any people that are nearing their goal weight but are having problems with the last 10 - 15lbs? If so, do you think that your favorite food plays a part in the resistance?
-
I'm extremely happy I got the band! Even if I only lostt 50lbs I'd still be very happy. Karey I did use hydroxycut but I used the caffeine free and I don't think it worked for me but then again, I did lose pretty fast so maybe it did work. I just don't know.

When people ask me how I lost all of my weight I tell them firstly that I had a gastric band and that I worked out almost everyday and ate differently. I never leave the band out. Some people may think that the band is a cop out way of losing weight..as you said, "dishonourable" but also as you said, we do what we have to do to be healthy.
