November 18th Banders
trishcruise replied to ukcatsfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 25 pounds in the first 3 weeks... feel like it's going to slow down soon. Question for you'll... I have never lifted weights... what type of hand exercises can I do that will tighten up my bat wings... where the skin is loose under your upper arms? Want to get ahead on this before things get totally out of control. -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?

Firedoll: I find that having the shakes in between my meals help keep the hunger at bay. I eat breakfast around 7, have a shake at 10, lunch at noon, shake at 3, dinner at 6, shake at 8:30. And i normally don't feel hungry. I like to add sugar free, fat free chocolate pudding mix... just a small amt to my vanilla shake and it thickens up and is really rich and stays with me... no hunger pangs! I only do 4 oz of water with my scoop of protein drink (20 grams of protein)... so it's not so much to drink at one time... love it.. Hope that gives you an idea to try. Good luck! -

Heather: My doc doesn't want us to go to the gym or at least lift weights for 6 months. I can do hand weights, not over 10 lbs and walk, or treadmill or exercise bike... that's it for now. It's weird how every doc has his own set of rules isn't it? Good luck and get to that gym! -

I was on liquid for two weeks... and pureed for 2 weeks... still have the rest of this week for that part and then 2 weeks of mushies and on to regular food. On the pureed, I've been having a packet of instant grits for breakfast, 4 oz of pureed soup or whatever for lunch and 4 oz of soup or whatever for dinner. Been pureeing whatever I make my husband.. for ex, did a roast in teh slow cooker with potatoes, carrots, peas and green beans, crm mushroom soup. Take some of that, add a bit of water to make it more liquid and puree it. Good flavor and stays with me. In between, have to have 4 oz protein drink in the morning, afternoon and after dinner. I bought vanilla flavor because I could add flavorings to change it up... I like to put some sugar free, fat free pudding mix in my shake. It thickens it up and tastes really rich... stays with me. Every doc has different specs as to what they'll let you eat... drives me crazy. I've been doing the treadmill or the exercise bike 30 minutes a day... Going to try soon to add some time in the morning and then 30 min at night and go from there. I find if I exercise too long at night that I don't sleep well... Hope that helps. But remember, every body is different. We're not going to lose at the same rate... so be glad of what you've lost and keep at it. It will come off! -

Hi everyone. I'm doing much better... and my cry baby day was only one day. Whew! I'm down 25 lbs and tomorrow is 3 weeks. My doc is happy with me. Last week of pureed foods and then on to mushies. Pureed has been fine for me as I've just been pureeing what I make my husband... good flavor at least. Have a great day! -

OH GOSH! That sounds scrumptious! The on line link you provided does have a store locator on it. Found three stores in my area that should have it. Can't wait to go and get some. Thanks so much! By the way, I was banded on Nov 18 and am down 25 pounds since surgery... tomorrow is 21 days. -

I bought vanilla flavored protein drink powder. Mix a scoop with 4 oz Water, add in any flavoring you want... for example, some sugar free, fat free choc pudding powder.. dump it in, shake it up... gets nice and thick.. add some ice and its good. -
Fish oil pills??
trishcruise replied to Angelhope1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician told me to switch from Centrum Silver to regular Centrum because Silver doesn't have enough iron in it. Might want to check that out. And I have chewable Centrum -

It's funny, but for me, today has been a bad day. I'm carrying my emotions on my shoulder, which is definately not like me, and I'm really witchy as well. My husband works from home and I so bad just want to tell him to go somewhere... anywhere... and let me have a few hours by myself. Once again, not like me. I called my nurse earlier and she said this was normal... after any surgery... Sure hope it's short lived cause I don't like this me. As far as how I physically feel... doing ok. Still some port soreness, but don't feel the other incisions at all. Not really hungry. Having some difficulty with gassiness when I drink the protein drinks... but til today, was doing really well. Looks like I've lost 10 lbs since surgery day. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and hopefully will start off better. -

day 3- Optifast
trishcruise replied to Angelhope1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Nov 18th too. I'm on day 2 of the modified liquid diet. My head is killing me... didn't know that would be a side effect... hope mine goes away after tomorrow like yours did Angelhope. And I keep having low sugar attacks. Have a call in to my doc to see which med I can lower to make that stop happening. I too am really worried that I'll only lose 45 - 50% of my weight. I keep telling myself that if I stick to this and continue exercising that I have to lose more. Perhaps the "average" is because people stop exercising or start cheating. I just can't figure out how you couldn't lose more if you only ate a cup or so three times a day. Either way, we just have to keep our chins up and support each other. We can do this! -

My doc says no diet drinks ever again... no carbonated drinks period... says it stretches your new stomach. Also says no caffeine... that it makes you crave food. -

I'm sorry. Isn't it weird how much the diets vary according to which doc you go to? Good luck! -

V8 makes some good cream soups... find them in the soup aisle, but they are in cartons... soup at hand has some good soups. My doc said I could have scrambled eggs, low fat cottage cheese, oatmeal, grits... so that's helping me some. Need to call your doc and see if he's allowed that. I find the v8 soups are very satisfying and of course oatmeal is very satisfying too. I'm on first day of liquid too... my surgery is Nov 18. good luck! -

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. My banding is scheduled for Nov 18. :cool2: I start the liquid diet Tuesday. I'm excited and scared at the same time. For the time being, I'm wondering what type of protein drinks you found to taste good. I don't do well with a lot of liquid sloshing around in my tummy. It was suggested to me to get a protein drink and add some sugar free pudding to it... would thicken it up. Plan to try that, but the protein drinks seem to come in huge containers and I really don't want to spend $$ on something that I might not like. Any help would be appreciated. :confused:Thanks
