If you will do a search, you will find some very nice (and expensive) medical ID bracelets available.

   I thought we had this surgery so we wouldn't need to take appetite suppresants.

Help! I am 3 days post op and miserable. I knew there would be adjustments but this is terrible. I am severely constipated and cannot get down anything. Even taking a sip of Water with a pill causes me pain and hiccups. How do I distinguish heartburn from gas? I have Prevacid and gas-x but they don't seem to be helping.

Insurance Has Been Approved!!!!

"One of thoses doctorly quirks that they garner from their experience with patients I think." Anyone who questions the need for shrinking the liver only needs to watch the surgery. There are several websites available. Why take the risk? -

Minnie: A cup is usually 8 ozs. -
Tidge: I am doing great! Once I get that fluid out, I did a 180. I wish I had called my doc sooner and not let myself suffer so long. Hope you are better.

Albuterol/Asthma/Allergies and Surgery
lovechunks replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You always start coughing when the a/c comes on? Could it be the filters need to be changed? Seriously, I have had asthma for 30 years and have taken or am taking ever drug ever known for asthma. Sometimes the answer is not more medication. Also, please do a search on nasal irrigation. I have found a lot of nighttime coughing is brought on by postnasal drip. As far as the surgery, if you need it, the anesthesiologist can put a little solumedrol in your drip to ease the breathing. Best wishes! -
FIONA: Go to lowcarbfriends dot com and check the recipe boards. They have lots of quiche recipes. Not necessarily lowfat, though.

Try some warm liquids. I am newly banded also and can tolerate chicken broth better than anything. Hope this helps.

How long should I wait to go to the chiropractor and get my back adjusted? I get my mid back aligned aout every 2-3 weeks and I have to lay face down on the table. I also have a hip that goes out but I know it can be done laying on my back. Thanks! p.s. I am 7 days post-op

Thanks, ladies for your kind replies. Naturally, I will discuss the matter with my docs. I was hoping to get a reply from someone who has some first-hand knowledge of back adjustments after banding. Anybody out there?

Pain and hiccups with every swallow
lovechunks replied to lovechunks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I posted this on another thread. After the pain became unbearable I went to the doc and he found fluid in my band! Wasn't supposed to be any in there. Immediate relief. I should not have let myself suffer for so long. -
You there, Jack? Or does anyone else have the answer? Thanks!

Well, after almost a week of misery, I went to the doc and I am glad I did. He checked my band and pulled some Fluid out of it. Evidently, when they insert the port, they have to fill it with fluid and then remove the fluid to make sure there is no AIR in the band. Meanwhile, I am so sore and swollen in my stoma that I can barely get anything down. He is giving me 24 hours to see if I am better; otherwise I will go into the hospital on an I.V. until the swelling goes down. I knew there had to be something wrong because I usually bounce back very fast from any type of surgery.

Tidge: I am 7 days post op and on my way to the doc. I cannot swallow anything and I have tried everything.

Pain and hiccups with every swallow
lovechunks replied to lovechunks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Today, I finally had to call the doc becuase the pain had become unbearable. They said it is spasms in my esophagus and put me on pherergan. Now, I can get the liquids down without screaming in pain but there is constant air and belching. Any suggestions? -
Wendy: You just made my day! :clap2: I am so happy to have helped. I have suffered with respiratory problems for many years and have taken TONS of steroids which I blame for most of my weight and other health problems. After spending years of suffering and lots of $$$$ on treatments for various symptons, heartburn being one of them, I learned about nasal irrigation. It seems kind of gross at first, but it feels so good it is easy to get addicted! Especially in the cold and flu season.

Pain and hiccups with every swallow
lovechunks replied to lovechunks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you both. I am a little better this morning. I know I am dehydrated. That is why I keep trying to drink anything I can get down. The pills I am taking are either very tiny or being crushed. The most frustrating thing is having pain with every teeny tiny swallow and then the hiccups start. I have been taking the M of M already. Today will be better! -
Ok, what does it mean when every tiny little sips hurts to go down-hot cold-everything? Banded 3 days ago.
-
Wendy: That really sounds like post-nasal drip. It will wake you up coughing. Do a search on nasal irrigation. You simply rinse your sinuses with a salt-water solution before bed. Works wonders!
-
KATE: I too was banded on 5-9 and am itching. Are you taking Lovenox or any other blood thinners? I know from family members that this causes itchng. Sue

You can get the protein water from drugstore.com. It is rather sweet but can be diluted with a little flavored water.

Anyone experience changes to eyesight after drastic weightloss?
lovechunks posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok-this may sound trivial, but I am getting ready to purchase new eyewear. My last ones were over $600, so I wonder if I should wait a few months? Not banded yet. Soon. -
I, too am a cereal lover. I make a warm flax cereal using ground up flax seeds (use a coffee grinder), splenda, cinnamon, vanilla, and enough water to liquefy. Heat in the microwave for about 90 sec. If you can afford the calories, a little half and half makes it wonderful.
