  1. Hi all - I am looking for some advice here. I am 2 years, 4 mos post-surgery, and have done fantastic until now. My last fill was about 5 months ago, and I only really go in for a "top-off" about once a year. About 10 days ago, I noticed that I was having much more restriction than normal. Well, it has now progressed to the point of barely being able to get Water down. I do have an appointment with my surgeon next Thursday, but am thinking I need to beg to be seen tomorrow. I am scared. Has anyone had any experience with this? Of course, my mind is thinking slippage, erosion, etc. I also seem to have acid reflux going on, so have been taking Zantac. I am hoping/praying it's just swelling from acid reflux - fingers crossed. Please help with any advice / experience that any of you may have had with this situation! Kristine
  2. Thank you for your responses. I did get in yesterday to see my doc. They took out a lot of fluid, and I am doing sooooo much better. Turns out that I just have been compounded the issue with trying to eat solids and getting stuck, which in turn caused a little ulcer and swelling. So, hopefully after a few weeks of taking it easy, I can get a fill and get back to normal. I am so relieved!!!

    Port issues ???

I am 8 months post surgery - and have just started to experience some really bad pains in my port area. I can really feel it, which is eerie to me. BUT - my main question, is if anyone else is experiening pain when you bend or move suddenly? If so, what do you do to prevent it?

    Port issues ???

I have definitely started working out more, so I am hoping it's just some irritation. I have a call into my docs now. Thanks for your replies!!!

    Question

Everyone's doctors are different!!!!!!! My Dr. told me the same thing post-op, anything I could get through a straw (without using one), was okay to eat. You do not need to be on a clear-liquid diet if your Dr. didn't say too. My goodness people, she is following her doctors advice! Although I will say, the first few days, the only thing I could get down was juice and watered down Protein shakes. Otherwise, I was miserable. About day 4, I was pureeing food to a liquid consistency and eating that. Hang in there - every day will get better.

    Anybody else experiance this?

I'm with ya! I drink enough water during the day, but just don't pee nearly as much as I did pre-band. It's really wierd, and has me a little worried at times. I go in for my checkup on Thursday and that is one of my questions for my Dr. I am now 2-1/2 weeks post op and still having this issue.
  10. I'm just curious to hear how everyone else has done with the MAJOR bloating! I am 11 days post surgery and my tummy is sooooooo bloated. I kinda figured maybe it would go down by now - but nope! How long does this last?
  11. I am having an immense amount of pressure/pain in my port site when I stand or sit. This just started yesterday afternoon. I was fine with walking until this happened, and now the only position I can handle is flat on my back. Does anyone out there no what is happening? It literally feels like a 100# weight hanging from that spot on my tummy whenever I stand now.

    Stomac bug...help!

I'm in the same boat - and am really curious as to how others will respond. My husband and daughter have it. I am terrified of catching it - especially since I was just banded on 10/27/08!
  13. Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and advice! I love this site. I am feeling a little better this evening. Most of that pressure/pain I think is gas as well. Man has that gas been a killer. This too will pass - can't wait!!!! :rolleyes2:

    I can't burp!?!

I also had really, really bad gas pains. The only thing my Doc told me to do was walk and lots of water. Mine did finally subside a bit by day 4 - but then again everyone is different. I'm going to say KEEP WALKING - it does help.
  15. I was just banded on Monday 10/27/08 and I am suffering. I really didn't think I would feel this bad. The gas pains are probably the worst. Is this normal? I also have awful incision pain - only one of them though - the biggest one. I wasn't expecting this. I'm assuming it's the incision where the band was inserted through. It's probably a good 3" long, w:crying:hich I wasn't expecting either. Now - I can't figure out if I'm hungry, or if it's gas pains, or what?? I am really, really struggling. Any words of advice?
  16. Hi there - Actually, during my psych eval she did tell me that people who go through weight loss surgery have a higher incidence for abuse than the "normal" person. This is because most people who have a weight issue, use food as their comfort. When you no longer have that, there is a higher chance of turning to other "bad " things. If you think you have an addictive personality, just be sure to be aware of this and get help if you feel that need surfacing.
  17. You guys are great!!! Wonderful advice. I am getting my heating pad now - my doc didn't even mention heat for the gas pains - just walking and Water. Also - I wasn't expecting my port incision to be where it is. I thought it would be more on my left side. Mine is still on my left side but pretty much right in the middle between my side and belly button. Isn't this unusual?
