Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Haven’t posted in awhile so I thought I would give everyone an update. First of all I hope everyone is doing well in their weight loss journey so far. So it all started about a week ago I noticed that something just didn’t feel right, so I told my husband that I was calling my doctor to schedule an appt to have some fluid removed from my band because I was just having problems. I went from eating food to barely and I mean barely eating anything at all, so I thought man why am I so tight all of sudden??? Mind you I’ve had 4.75cc in my band since July and I’ve never experienced this feeling before. Then the pain started and I mean pain all on the left side right under my breast, I thought could this be gas??? I called my PCP right away to get a referral to see my surgeon and then called their office to schedule an appointment. The nurse called me back and says how about Feb; I said nope wont work for me I need to see him ASAP. Anyway I went to see my doctor yesterday (finally) after waiting for a week because he was on vacation and mind you I was in still in pain it even hurt to walk, like I had a constant stitch in my side. So I was telling my doctor what was going on he said it could be two things an ulcer or a prolapsed band (slippage) either way the fluid from my band would have to be removed (sob). I had my UP GI and it showed that my band had indeed slipped. I cannot tell you how upset I was, I mean I don’t PB, vomit whatever you want to call it, I just don’t understand. He was very sympathetic (I love my doc) and said we’ll take the fluid out and have you come back in 4 weeks and then he saw my face and said we’ll compromise and make it 3 weeks instead. As soon as the fluid was removed my pain was gone, I mean I still have a slight tinge here or there but nothing like it was. So I’m taking it easy soft foods and all that but boy does it feel good to eat. Last night I had some creamy soup and you would have thought that I was eating LobsterJ. Anyway just wanted to share this with you and please keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for me that if it doesn’t fix itself then my Doctor and I have a date in the OR. Take care!!! Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi All! Glad to hear that everyone is sticking it out in these rough band times. I went in last week to get a fill and feel no restriction. Honestly, I'm not sure what I am supposed to feel, right now I am trying to maintain my weight. I've lost 90lbs and I'm happy with my weight loss, don’t want to be so skinny that all my bones show (really doesn’t like right with my body shape). It's weird though because I'm so used to restriction that this little bit of freedom scares me. So I’m sticking it out and if I feel like I have too much freedom I’m going back for another fill. I’m currently at 4.75, previously I was at 5 and had a very tough time with reflux and then went to 4.5 so we’ll see. I wonder if I went back to 5 if I’ll have reflux issues again. Take care, Jenn

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi!!! Well I got my first adjustment done since August 08 and I was a little disappointed. You see I have been having issues with Reflux and Heartburn, not all the time but when I it happens its just sooo painful. So after much thought and discussions with my hubby and doctor I decided to have some fluid removed. My thought was just to have a little taken out but my doc had other plans, so I was at 5 and now I'm at 4.5. Wow, I'm scared that I'm going to start gaining weight again. I know I can go back to get a fill but I feel like I'm wide open. I told my doctor my concerns and he said that I look great and that he really doesn’t want me to lose any more weight and he told me that he likes my flat tummy. :bored: I’m 5’3 and I’ve lost 90lbs so I’m down to 150 pounds. I feel great but I think I could lose another 10 pounds but my husband says I look great too. I guess I’m just self-conscience after being overweight for so long and I’m always thinking I could lose a few more pounds. I’ll see how I feel after a few weeks and if I start consuming more food than usual, I’ll make my appt to have my band adjusted. Thanks for letting me ramble on and I hope everyone is doing well.

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hello!!! Just wanted to stop in and see how everyone is doing. I'm scheduled to have a slight unfill in June b/c I've been experiencing some reflux and the funny thing is I haven’t had a fill since August 08 so I guess I'm tight??? The band is so fickle..go figure. Other than the slight reflux I’ve been doing well, I’ve lost 87 pounds and feel good.

Reflux redux?

Hi All!! I've been banded since 4/08 and my last fill was in August. I have 5cc in my 10cc band. Recently I've been experiencing reflux at night, it’s not every night, but it happens at least once or twice a week (yuck). I’m currently on Omeprazole, which I take daily and I take a Pepcid AC before I go to bed just as a precaution. Called my dr today and I’m waiting for a call back. I have great restriction and I can’t even recall the last time I pb’d. Why after all this time would I start having this reflux? Some days with the band, I feel tighter but we all have those types of days. I just want the reflux to go away.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi All!!! It’s been a very long time since I posted so long that I forgot my password and had to create a new login, used to be jamd now I’m jamd1. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and let everyone know that it’s been a good year so far I’m down 80 pounds with only 5cc in my 10cc band. My last fill was in August 2008, I think that I might be ready for another fill but my thought is if I’m losing weight on a weekly basis why get a fill?? My follow up visit for my yearly is May 1st so I figured I’d wait until then to see what my doctor says. I feel wonderful, I have so much more energy, and my new addiction are clothes not FOOD! Jenn

Changes in Restriction

I have a dr. appt on thursday b/c I really cant take the pressure in my chest. everytime I drink something it just sits and then I can feel it trickle down or I'm burping and a little comes up. When I go to bed at night I cannot drink anything prior b/c again it just comes back up. I never had this pressure before and I dont want it now. God I hope everything is okay.. I just had the Upper Gi last week and he said everything was fine..what else could it be??
13. So I’ve been banded since April 08 and lost 65 pounds. My last fill was in August, I have 5cc in a 10cc band. My restriction has always been moderate but in the last month, I’ve gone to being really restricted. At times, I used to be able to eat a 1 cup of food I’m lucky to get in ½ of that and then I’m full. I went last week to get an Upper GI and the doctor said everything looks good. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this strange phenomenon of not being restricted to being restricted without getting a fill.

Possible slippage???

I contacted my dr this morning and I'm scheduled for an upper gi swallow on wednesday morning, I'm hoping all will go well. My dr just believes that its a bad case of heartburn b/c everything that I eat burns while going down and after several hours I still bring up what I ate. I have no issues while sleeping and have no pain in my band or port area. I've also lost 5 pounds in the last several days from not eating mostly on mushy and liquids and honestly who wants to eat if it hurts. I'll keep you posted on my results.
15. Okay.. I thought that maybe I was just a little tight as I usally am at certain times. however, everytime I try and eat it just burns?? I thought that it might be heartburn/acid reflux but I'm not sure. I'm also burping a lot and yes sometimes I burp what I had just eaten (sorry to be gross). Tomorrow is a holiday but I'm hoping my doc has hours.. I thought it was just me but I really think something might be wrong. Oh and I'v been banded since april 08 and my last fill was in august, so really nothing has changed.
