    Any Long Islanders?

Hi, Did see a nutrionist yet? You could always give them a call or email? I struggle with this too and have read/heard so many different things. First I thought only 3 meals per day - no Snacks. Now I was told 3 small meals a day with 2 snacks! Yikes! I usually eat 3 Meals and maybe a snack: Breakfast: 1oz lowfat cheese or 1 Egg and 1oz Ham/Turkey Sausague If I need more, I'll have a yogurt or 3/4 cup Cereal Lunch: Cup of salad, 4oz chicken or Turkey. Better to have the harder chicken. I thought it was BS when they said the knife and fork Protein keep you fuller but, it true...lol! I add some dressing and if I need a crunch 6 croutons or 3 small breadsticks. Sometimes I'll get a Turkey Burger with no bun. Dinner: 4oz protein, 2oz white or sweet potato and 2oz of some type of veggies. Snack: Fat free pudding or Frozen Yogurt Hope this helps. I'm sure the other ladies will add their thoughts. This is a great group! :smile2: Debbie

    Any Long Islanders?

Hey Everyone, I hope you remember me, it's Debbie and I was banded by Dr. G in Nov. So glad to see everyone is doing well. I'm hanging in there. Finally had my first fill on March 6th - long time! I struggled with reflux caused by eating to darn fast! I finally got under control! I think I have 3.6cc's in?? Anyway, down 40 which makes me happy but like I am reading, I am also struggling a bit. I feel like still I eat too much and have naughty treats on the weekend. It is a struggle everyday! I am happy though and I read someone asking if "anyone had second thoughts"....yes, of course but once you get over the first few hurdles (liquids, eating slow, the surgery itself!, the port pain, a fill etc.) it will be best thing you ever did for yourself! This site has helped me so much! Have a great day everyone. Debbie

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone, I saw Dr. Geiss today (yes, Dr. G in person) and you were right he didn't give me a fill. He said I had restriction in there already and because of my recent reflux problems he wants me to wait 4 more weeks. Good news is I lost 5 pounds (30 total-can't figure out how to post the weight loss ticker - I am hopeless). Think it was those skinny vibes you sent Chris thanks! Hope everyone is well and I'd love to meet up as well. I'm also planning on going on the 20th. I'm still really confused about what we are supposed to be eating. I thought it was 3 meals a day (3 oz pro, 2 oz veggies and 3 oz carbs)and an optional snack if needed. Today I see in the office 3 small meals and 2 Snacks. Any thoughts? :grouphug: Stay warm everyone! Debbie Banded Nov. 13th - Dr. Geiss

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the recent posts. I may not write much but I read everyday. I also have been struggling a bit over the holidays and it was nice to read that I am not alone. I am looking for to my next visit on Friday and hoping for my first fill so I don't feel hungry as much! Wishing everyone good health and success! Debbie Banded Nov. 13th - Dr. Geiss

    Any Long Islanders?

Hey Everyone, Happy Belated Thanksgiving! Nice to hear that everyone is coming along so well. I am finally feeling almost normal since I transitioned to "mushy food" - thank goodness! I won't be able to make it on the 10th because of work and am pretty bummed about that. Thank you Chris for organizing and best wishes on your surgery! Please keep me in mind for the next time and if anyone has time, let me know how it went. I'm still feeling a little emotional over the whole change and really appreciate your stories, questions etc. Debbie

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the well wishes! I am BANDED! Feeling ok, not as good as I thought I would be. I still have a lot of discomfort on my left side and feel like I had a little set back yesterday with the pain. I was thinking it was still gas so I took some gas-x but, it hasn't seemed to work as of yet. So today I am going to just rest all day (again) and hope for a little relief. I also do not feel like eating (drinking) at all. I do my Water and maybe 4 of the 6 meals suggested but of the 4 I do eat, I only drink about half. Any one else experience this? Don't get me wrong, not complaining! Hee Hee.... Otherwise, the process was just fine. The hospital and staff were just wonderful. All my love to those being banded this week! A heartfelt thanks to everyone posting their experiences. It helps so very much to know you're not alone. Deb :rolleyes2:

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone, Susancarole, WOW, thank you for the inspiration. That is amazing, congrats to you! Lisa, we will be thinking of you today! We are here for you. Fran, you are my idol - first, starting liquids early and secondly going to a shower and being around so much food on the first day! Sue, don't be so hard on yourself. This liquid thing is hard! I've been holding my self hostage here in my house since Friday so I don't have to be around food. So I can be a chicken and hide but you can't because you have a family. Hang in there! I never realized how much food meant to me, it scared me a little. PLUS there are a million food commericals on TV, it's torture....lol Srinkinmom (Chris), that is a really nice offer! I'm in! Lisa P and Christine, thanks for the well wishes! Thank you all for your posts! Debbie

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone, I started my liquids too yesterday and was very hungry and tired! This morning I woke up with a headache but I know it will get better. I bought the Muscle Milk Light at GNC and mix 1 scoop with 8oz of Water. I must say it wasn't bad at all. I'm still going to buy some unjury though too. Lisa, how are you doing? Getting close! Please update us when you can! Thanks everyone for your posts. They really are helping me feel like I'm not alone. Sue, see you at pre-op! How do you make the cool signature line?

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone, I am Debbie. I met Lisa, Sue and Fran at the education class last week for Dr. Geiss. My surgery date is Nov. 13th. Thanks so much for you postings, I really enjoyed reading them. I am really nervous too and I'll agree the anxiety has increased since the class. it is really nice knowing I am not alone. Susancarole (Sue) and Slimtobe (Lissa P), thanks for your post on the liquids. I had heard medi-fast was not as tasty as some out there. I went and bought some Muscle Milk light but will now get some unjury to get me through the post-op. I really want to be successful. All the best everyone!
