Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Hi fellow bandsters I am recently banded and I just wanted to say that this is the most helpful thread on LBT. It not only gives me a good idea of what to eat but also shows me that we all slip up every now and again, you just have to be accountable for it I am 12 days out from surgery and still on mushies (although I have cheated a bit, and tolerated it fine). Here is what I had today: Breakfast: Cookies n' cream protein shake (it tasted nothing like cookies n cream ice cream~sheesh false advertising..haha) Lunch: 1/4 cup fat free refried beans with 1 tsp fat free sour cream and 1 tsp salsa Dinner: 1/4 cup vegatarian fat free chili with 1 tsp fat free sour cream
  5. Well I did it! I was banded on the 17th. The surgery went great and the hospital stay was about as good as staying in the hospital overnight can be. I haven't had a lot of pain associated with the operation, I've only had to take the liquid hydrocodone they gave me twice all week (which is a good thing...narcotic pain killers make me loopy!) My problem has been with GAS! I feel like my abdomen is going to explode. I get gas when i eat and when I don't. I keep hoping it is from when the expanded my abdomen during surgery, but it has been 4 days of cramping and crying. I have tried walking, rocking, curling up in a ball (and crying for my mommy!), liquid gas drops, Gas-x strips (which did nothing for me, except give me minty fresh breath!) I hope in time it will resolve, no amount of weight loss is worth being in pain and miserable. Still, I know I made the right choice having the surgery.
  6. Whoo Hoo...I am going to be banded Monday also!!!
  7. I am on day 6 of my pre-op diet. I started on the November 7th. 10 days of low carb slimfast and clear liquids only. I envy some of the people on here that get to eat a lean cuisine for dinner But on the bright side I only have 4 more days until surgery (Nov 17th!) and I have lost 7 lbs since I started the diet.
  8. I have read your thread about all that you have going on in your life at the moment and and for that you have my sympathy, BUT, all of the positive outcomes in this forum outweigh your bad outcome. I researched the pros and cons of lap-band surgery before ever comitting to it, as I am sure most others have. I know going into this, it is not a given that I will lose all the weight I want to, but really what in life is a given anyway? I am confident in the choice I have made.

    Hello from North Carolina.....

Congratulations on your surgery..You are now an official bandster!! Hope everything went well! So are you going to have to fly to CO everytime you need an adjustment?
  10. Hi everyone! I will be an official bandster on November 17, 2008!!! I start my Pre-op diet on Nov 7th...10 days of low carb slimfast and clear liquids. My family is just as ecstatic as me, we had Thanksgiving dinner the weekend of Halloween, since I will still be in my post-op diet. Like everyone else, I am a rollercoaster of emotions...as silly as it sounds it's almost like I am losing a friend. Food as been such a part of my life when I was happy, sad, mad.....fortunately I have real friends that don't make my butt bigger when I'm emotional...:laugh:Good luck to all the November bandsters!!!

    Hello from North Carolina.....

    Hello from North Carolina.....

Sorry to hear that Peanutband. I know it can be discouraging, but try to stay positive. I work in a doctors office and i know how hard the insurance women work to get approvals, trust in your surgeons office, they will work their tails off to get you approved.

    Hello from North Carolina.....

Fortunately my hospital is a BCBS Center of Excellence, meaning that my surgeon has the go ahead to perform the surgery at his determination without prior approval. I know several people that have had the surgery at another local hospital that also had BCBS, it only took a week or two.
  15. Hello everyone! My screen name is supergirl_nc (don't ask!) I am a 29 year old single mom. My surgery is scheduled for 11/18/08 and I am ecstatic! My journey has went fairly smoothly thus far. I have BCBS of NC and the local hospital is a BCBS Center of Excellence, which means my surgery did not have to get precertified......so fortunately no insurance hurdles here. I look foward to sharing my progress and reading about everyone else's.
